Better college RB: Herschel Walker or Bo Jackson

Just want to see what people think, I have some friends that preach up and down that Bo is not only the greatest RB, but the greatest college football player of all time

This should be interesting since there's only a handful of us who actually saw either of these guys play. Both were among the best RB's to ever play the game.

I'd probably go with Herschel. Statistically he had the better career by a mile.

Best college RB I have ever seen was Barry Sanders and it's not even close, for the record.

Saw both play and in my opinion, Bo was the better back. Yes, Herschel had more career yards, but he also had nearly 1000 rushing attempts vs Bo's 650. Bo averaged 6.6 yac and would have smashed herchels career total had Bo had the same amount of carries. Both were clearly the most physically gifted players on the field whenever they played. Its a travesty that neither were able to have a great pro career due to injury.

I would agree 100%, but I never saw his college career...but I did see the bulk of his pro career and based on what I saw there, I can only assume he did the same things in college. From what I've heard about it though, the thing people may not remember about Barry Sanders 1988 season (and Mike Gundy pointed it out awhile ago in an interview) is that he racked up some of the most prolific and gaudy numbers we've ever seen, in 3 quarters...Barry hardly played in the 4th quarter as his team was winning by so much all the time

Barry's Heisman year remains the greatest single season I've seen by a college rb, but the fact that he only had one great year at OSU puts him behind Herschel and Bo, imho.

Speaking of which - has a school ever had a better tandem of running backs than OSU's 1987 duo of Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders?

I'd take Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis over those two.

USC had Charles White and Marcus Allen in the same backfield. Both won Heisman's.

Auburn had Bo Jackson and Lionel James.
