Who was the better college QB?? Charlie Ward or Tim Tebow

Today on ESPN First Take they showed where Bobby Bowden had said that he thought Charlie Ward was a better QB than Tim Tebow. He said Charlie was a better runner and passer than Tim Tebow. They debated on first and 10 with one saying Ward and the other saying Tebow. I figured it would be an interesting thread seeing as how we have alot of guys hold enough to have watched them both play so I decided to post it here. So what do you guys say Tebow or Ward?? I wonder if the results will be as one sided as I think they will be.

Well with the amount of SEC homers on this board it will be painfully one sided, but Charlie Ward was a better QB than Tim Tebow. Had he played in the spread offense the numbers he put up would have been insane, but FSU's offense wasn't centered solely around Charlie Ward with the other players they had back then. He did throw more interceptions, but FSU's 'Fast break offense' was predicated on more deep throws and thus taking more chances than Tebow's offense requires him to take.

Over the 4 years Ward was at FSU (1990-1993) FSU went a mind blowing 44-6 winning 1 MNC, but not being lucky enough to get into a MNC game with a loss. As of right now Tebow's Gators are 35-6 during his reign. Total wins in this argument are pointless given teams play 2 more games a year now. Ward's accomplishments get dismissed now because he chose not to play in the NFL to pursue an NBA career. Had Ward gone into the NFL instead he would have either revolutionized the game or would have been too far ahead of his time for a fairly non-inventive NFL.

In an interesting trivia note, Charlie Ward and Chris Weinke actually originally signed in the same class and were on campus together before Weinke signed with the Blue Jays (before he enrolled in classes). In his first couple of seasons Ward served as the punter after backing up Heisman runner up Casey Weldon.

Tebow hands down. 2 National Championships and 2 Heisman trophies. One more than Mr.Ward.

Charlie Ward. a better passer is a given, but IDK about a runner as Ward wasn't a bruiser as Tim Tebow is. Plus as a starter he only lost 2 games, and that Notre Dame game FSU could have won (probably my personal G.O.A.T. game)

LOL @ twelve...also Ward was drafted to the MLB...so he coulda played 3 diff. professional sports....he runs and throws better than Tebow...now yes Tebow does have 2 titles but the 1st one couldve been won witout Tebow, he came into a good situation...and Tebow had better talent than Ward...everybody raves about Tebows leadership N will but its easy to get jacked up with that supporting cast
