Week 13 Discussion

Couple MACtion games tonight. Quasi-division Championship between Bowling Green and Ohio (though in a convoluted tiebreaker, Buffalo at 5-2 wins the division over both 6-2 Ohio and Bowling Green should Bowling Green win)

Also Ball State-Miami Ohio battle of 5-6 to go to a bowl.

Really, I just wanted to make this thread to go on a rant about the downside of the turnover chain equivalents that most schools do. Ohio has TWICE tonight intercepted Bowling Green on 4th down when both times it was advantageous to drop it and take the ball at the spot of the snap. But way too many defenders are now all about the individual selfishness of getting to pose for the camera with the belt and good of the team be damned. They may want to give it to someone on a 4th down stop, since that achieves the same thing and then explain to the players why it's actually selfish to be picking off a pass you shouldn't just to wear the belt.

Re: Week 13 Discussion

Cincinnati should have converted 4th and 15 and then some, WR had it hit him right in the hands and dropped it. Tulane hosts Central Florida for the American so long as Central Florida doesn't inexplicably lose the War on I-4.

Iowa, with a chance to clinch the division, loses at home to 3-8 Nebraska. Purdue can take it tomorrow with a win over Indiana.

North Carolina ties the game on the final play of the game, then loses in double OT. Glad their last two losses matter and they wouldn't somehow get into a playoff game by accidentally beating Clemson next week.

Re: Week 13 Discussion

It was Tulane's first Top 25 win since 1984.

Re: Week 13 Discussion

I don't think you would have had to worry about North Carolina somehow sneaking in anyway. Of all the potential "chaos" teams, North Carolina was probably going to be at the end of that list.

USC was probably the first one in regardless if any of the top 4 lost And if somehow both USC and Clemson lost then it would be Pac12 champ Oregon or one of a few other candidates that would probably be in before NC.

I wonder if Lane Kiffin potentially being in the couching carousel was a distraction to the team, or if they just weren't nearly as good as they looked when they were beating up on mostly bad opponents. 3 straight losses to end the season is bad regardless. Congrats to Miss St for getting that win though.

Florida just tied it up with FSU.

Missouri goes from coach on the hotseat to bowl eligible.
Arkansas is lucky they beat Ole Miss last week. Otherwise they would not enjoy bowl season this year.

Why in the world is Michigan-OSU a 12pm game tomorrow?

Other notable games tomorrow:
Oregon-Oregon State
Notre Dame - USC

And of course Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt (aka the kings of the SEC). Can they make it 3 wins in a row!?

I guess grabbing the facemask is legal these days.

Wasn't a grab, was a 5 yarder that doesn't exist and wasn't worth a flag as his fingers never grabbed it. The pass interference call earlier in the drive to extend the game was worse.

I'm sure I would be upset if that was a FSU QB though.

The PI was the right call. There was clear PI there. There was also a facemask there. Oh well. I hate the Gators more, so it's okay seeing them lose on a blown call.

Re: Week 13 Discussion

NC ST v UNC was a great watch, NCST with a 4th string QB pulled that off, crazy. Florida v FSU was another great watch, back n forth action, I miss that ****
