2010 Texas Longhorns team thread

Might as well start it now.

Gilbert considering the circumstances was pretty much as good as you could ask him to be last night. He showed flashes of greatness that he had at Lake Travis. He has the tools, just needs to get that swagger.

Texas HAS to develop the running game more. Newton, Johnson, McGee and Whittaker are all coming back. My problem with the RBs, and even Johnson is that they are all finesse based. No one like Ingram or Richardson who are pure muscle.

Malcom Williams needs to grow some finger to go along with the nubs at the end of his arms.

Gideon needs to learn how to take an angle. Hopefully Christian Scott can learn to pass Algebra and be eligible.

I'm assuming Earl is as good as gone? Oh well, we'll have Brewester, Wells and Scott back their, too.

These receivers are p****** me off. Malcomn Williams is officially trash. Darius White, please come save this receiving corps.

Hopefully now that the #1 spot is open it will generate competition. You know some of the WRs probably didn't like that Shipley was the man and got a majority of the passes. They will be fine as long as we have 1 develop into a possession guy with reliable hands.

If they didn't like it, they sure did a good job of not doing anything about it.

I just hope the odds are on a size that at least 1, if not 2 will step up huge and put themselves in the national spotlight. Williams, Hales, Chiles, Kirkendoll, Fitzhenry, Monroe, Timmons, Payne

Everyone of these guys was a 4* recruit except Fitzhenry. Not to mention these guys are verbally commited.

Darius White, Chris White, Mike Davis and John Harris. All 4* recruits #3, 10, 18, 29 rated WRs

Scratch Dan Buckner from that list. He is transferring following a misdemeanor tresspassing arrest.

Re: 2010 Texas Longhorns team thread

Marquise Goodwin is going to be a good WR. He and Gilbert had some good connections throughout 09 during garbage time, and Goodwin is just way too fast. He gets open all the time.

Texas needs a Tight End. A TE with good hands could really help Gilbert.

Re: 2010 Texas Longhorns team thread

Well since David Thomas Texas has had the worst luck with TEs. D.J. Grant who is 6-3 220 was supposed to be the starting tight end before going down with a season ending injury. Then they just phased out the TE position completly as far as pass catching, then they phased out the sorta-TE position with Dan Buckner the last few games.
