Victorious Road

For anyone who's played the game, is it worth purchasing a japanese ps2 just to play hajime no ippo 2: victorious road? I really want to play a boxing game with a deep career mode. Also, is it easy to understand the instructions in career mode, give that everything's in japanese?

The career mode is ridiculously deep. But since it's mostly in Japanese it's hard to understand - especially setting your diet and training.

But this site has some excellent tips and manuals:
http://westbound.proboards.com/index.cgi

But the career mode is so good man. All the real belts, serious training, diet, various fighting styles, etc. It's very, very deep.

Thanks man. How long does it last? Is there a predetermined age that you retire or a predetermined number of fights before you retire?

Boxers Road 2 has the best career mode in a boxing game I have ever heard.

Preach!

Still the most fun i've ever had with a boxing game.

I'll elaborate tomorrow.

No. As you get older you slow down and when you get in your 40s, you get so slow that you can't compete. like your opponents will be younger and faster and your guy will simply not be physically able to compete in his 40s. however, the diet and conditioning system is so deep that it's possible to develop a good diet and training system that allows you to fight into your 40s. It's a very hard hard game to even build up your guy correctly. you have to read FAQs and sample diets. it takes a while but it's worth it. great game.

if you aren't careful you could lose all your speed and stamina in your late 20's. it's ultra realistic. you have to keep your bad health at a minimum.
