Anyone play UFC 2010?

I don't watch much MMA, i could care less about it but this game is a great representation of their combat sport...

The stand up, just moving around jabbing and throwing hooks feels so much more natural than FNR4...If they were to cut out all the grappling, submissions, tweek the controls for boxing and give us a ring this game would EASILY be the best boxing sim on the market...

Tell me how UFC has superior graphics yet they're able to fit a ref in the octagon but EA still can't figure out a f****** way to put one in the ring for FN? It's not just that, the presentation in the demo as a whole is superior to FRN4 and its the little things that do it like a tale of the tape...

I don't understand how a sport that has been in the mainstream for less than a decade gets a better sim than anything us boxing fans have ever experienced in gaming...WTF did we do wrong to constantly get arcade oriented garbage shoved down our throats?

Im with you on that.. i like the style and look of FNR4.. but these guys got the presentation down perfectly.. they took great care in paying attention to detail.. and yes its smooth.. and they dont have that ******** slide back.. **** that we have to deal with from the crowd that plays fnr4..I seriously hope they get it right this time alot of hard work and research has been done in order to aid them in the development process i hope these guys dedication to wanting a better game does not fall on death ears.. of the .. The presentation is sick to me, along with the possibilities.

It seems like EA thinks a bunch of 10 year olds play their games. EA has to realize they have pre-adults, adults, and sports fans.

I don't think it is. They got the middle M down pretty good but I find the first M and the A are severely lacking. There's too much focus on the martial part with very little on the mixed or art parts. The submission system is poor and trying to use wrestling you get stood up way too fast so that puts a big dent in the mixed bit. Too easy/too many KOs due to overly agressive AI that end up walking into your shots, also causes pacing issues along with speed of the game itself. Then there's the unstoppable Machida takedown, the Shogun instant escape from the bottom and over powered Rampage clinch. So there's hardly any art in it. There's also at least 2 ways to trick the AI into constantly repeating itself.

Presentation is great, other than those ugly ring girls but that's hardly the games fault.

Like i said i don't watch much MMA so maybe i over spoke when i said its a great representation of the sport...

My point was UFC 2010 is still a lot better than the juvenile arcade crap EA has been shoveling at us boxing fans for years now...Boxing is one aspect of MMA, you'd think it would be easier to make a boxing sim...

You guys have had how many games since MMA went mainstream? 3 maybe 4? Look how far MMA sims have progressed in so little time...It took 4 fight night games for EA just to finally figure out how to add robes to entrances...

Simple...

It's EA Sports....
(Not trying to be smart ***...These guys just don't get it)...

Oh and Goh is on point..

But still, Ive enjoyed UFC 09 more than FNR4....especially online...Online FNR4 is nothing but "lets see who can throw the most punches" no strategy whatsoever...UFC 09 had some kind of strategy to it..

ufc 2010 is a fail of a game. FNR4 is way better. End of story.

Re: Anyone play UFC 2010?

Hi all,

I play UFC 2010 and also own FN4 (along with UFC 2009). When I first got UFC2010 home I wasn't sure that I'd like it after the first few games but then I really started to love it. Some things annoy me a little such as the submission "shine" system and the fact that online, both players can't choose to play from left to right (that was a nice touch by EA in FN4) but overall it gets my thumbs up!

With regards to Fight Night - I stopped playing it a few months ago because I found it frustrating after they had introduced the patches which slowed down gameplay and online resulted in chess matches rather than exciting "edge of your seat" type fights that I had enjoyed pre - patch.

Just my thoughts though,

Still.
