The one thing I will miss about using TPC

I am glad that we will soon have the option to use buttons to throw punches instead of just the stick. In the past three fight nights, I have always used buttons because there is a lot less margin for error when throwing the correct punch you want to throw. I agree with people who say that TPC is more challenging/rewarding to use. While that may be true, the fact of the matter is that we are controlling world class boxers who in the heat of a fight, never have to THINK about what punch they are throwing or worry about possibly throwing the wrong punch. They simply see the opening and react naturally. I feel that using buttons to throw punches best represents this aspect of the sport. Because of this, I'll be switching to buttons once the DLC becomes available.

With that said, there is one aspect of using the right stick for punching that I will miss. I think that the blocking aspect of this game is superb and very intuitive. As the controls are currently, your thumb is always on the right stick. Either your throwing punches with it, or you are blocking high/low with it. All you have to do is press RT to transition from offense to defense. Because of this, its very easy to get off counter punches and fight realistically for the most part. There are even times when I am blocking and release the block right after my opponent throws a punch and I will throw a PERFECT quick counter without even intentionally trying to. Just by taking my finger off RT and still having my thumb on the stick.

I think that once the buttons become an option, my defense may suffer. It will be a bit harder to transition from offense to defense. Right now, that aspect of the game is perfect.

I will use both...stick clicking drives my wife nuts. When she's around I'll use buttons. Because of defense I prefer sticks.

Who's crying?

I explained why I'm switching to buttons. I can't always throw the punch I want with the sticks. I can the majority of the time, but sometimes I can't. With the buttons I've never thrown a punch I didnt intend to. That's the bottom line.

Because of everyone complaining about buttons, we're getting buttons for DLC. Could we have perhaps gotten more boxers instead? I don't get it. All of you so-called "gamers" out here, and can't learn how to move a stick. EA wanted to put in a level of skill development in their game, to possibly reward those patient enough to learn how to play. Does it make it more realistic? No. But at least you have to learn something. Instead they decide to cater to the cry-babies.

I feel the same. If they could just somehow redesign TPC then I would probably use it for just the reason you stated... the transition from off to def is smoother but till they do I'll use the buttons.

Considering how big being able to block and counter is in this game, I think you button pushers are going to pay severely once this DLC comes out. This isn't the parrying system where you hold the stick a certain way and the opponet's punch gets parried. This is a reactionary system in which you need quick reflexes to be able to see what you opponent is doing and react quickly. What good is being able to throw your punches with 100% accuracy when you are getting hit in the face 15+ more times per round?
