Can the Thunder Take the Next Step in the NBA?

Oklahoma City put together the blueprint that every other re-building team in the NBA seems to trying to emulate for getting out of the lottery and into contention. OKC has the best young player in the league, and the early favorite for the MVP in 2011, in Kevin Durant, and a great young core around him. Coming off a 50-win season, the Thunder brought in Cole Aldrich, perhaps the best center in college basketball last season, giving this young bunch another long, physical defender. Scott Brooks has this team playing some of the best defense in the NBA and with Durant, point guard Russell Westbrook and forward Jeff Green, OKC has plenty of offensive firepower as well.
Prediction: 1st Place, Northwest Division
