Ospreys Escape With a Win Against Terps
”North Florida’s pulls off what could be the upset of the year."

Going into the game Maryland didn’t expect any troubles. They were supposed to win this game easily and move on in the tournament. Unfortunately for them, poor play and foul trouble allowed the Ospreys to take a lead into halftime. Maryland didn’t bounce back until it was too late. They cut the lead down to 3 with just under 2:00 left to play, but Tom Hammonds answered with a huge 3-pointer the following possession to seal the deal.

“I can think of maybe 12 people that thought we would win that game, and they were all sitting on the bench beside me. You guys can bash me all you want. Call me inexperienced, say it was beginner’s luck, and predict that this team won’t win 5 games again this year. As long as I have my team believing that we can win we can beat anybody on any day. I didn’t come here intending to rebuild this team, I came here intending on making a winning team right away. Both the players and the people I’m recruiting are believing in my system, and I will tell you now that the North Florida Ospreys will be a team to watch out for as a top contender in this conference within the next 3 years,” Coach Matthews said as he gave a passionate opening statement .

Again, an animated coach Matthews had a lot to say after the game.

“Yeah, so pretty much you can call this the best North Florida team EVAR! I mean come on we are obviously extremely good, just nobody gives us no love round here. We’re pretty much the Little Engine That Could ya know? Yeah we pretty much rocked them like a hurricane.

Obviously we took a blow with losing one of our two big time players in Grimballin *insert Jim Jones impression here*, but I don’t think we need him against Florida anyways. We expect to go in there and claim the title of the best basketball team in the state. Oh, and for those that want to know he won't see much of any playing time against either Florida or UCLA.”

Well with 2 big wins already under your belt I am not sure how much luck you will need against the Gators, but I do say that would be huge. I always liked the idea of starting with North Florida too. You get good instate recruiting and lots of instate games against bigger schools like Florida, FSU, Miami FL, UCF, plus all the smaller schools.

Gators Shut Up Coach Matthews, Hammonds Hurt

North Florida played the Gators well up until when Tom Hammonds, the Osprey’s leading scorer went down with an injury. Without their two leading scorers, UNF never stood a chance. Florida pulled away and never looked back. Both Hammonds and Grimball are expected to miss this weeks game against UCLA as well, so it’s going to be an ugly day again.

“Let me put this in a way that you reporters can understand. We are the Little Engine That Could. The Little Engine ran into a rock today…….a VERY big rock. The engine can’t move forward with a big rock blocking it, end of story. But seriously, take Brady and Moss away from the Patriots last year and do they still go 16-0? I don’t think so. Wait until our two big guys are back and we won’t expect to lose another game. Thank you..have a good day,” coach Matthews didn’t wait for questions.
