Sea Us Rise: A Seattle Mariners Franchise (The Show '22)

Seattle - A Five year plan is finally ready to come to fruition in Seattle. The organization has spent the past few years rebuilding from the ground up in the farm system, and now the fruits of their labors are ready to unleash themselves on the rest of the league. Logan Gilbert, Jarred Kelenic, Kyle Lewis, and Julio Rodriguez are all names that Mariners fans have heard for years now, and have been told are the future, and the answer to ending decades of heartbreak in Seattle. Now all four are in the fold, with the last piece, Julio Rodriguez, who may be the brightest star of them all, lighting the organization a buzz with a torrid spring, after which they could not deny the youngster a spot on the opening day roster. After a wild 2021 where the team won 90 games, and just barely missed the playoffs, fans are counting on the young guys taking a leap, and the acquistion of three all-stars, including the reigning AL Cy young winner, being enough to push these Mariners over the top, and end a 20 year playoff drought in Seattle. Here are your 2022 Seattle Mariners.

Season Predictions

Our Panel is picking everything from major awards, to who will ultimately raise the world series trophy in October. Here are our predictions for the 2022 MLB Season.

AL East:

1. Toronto Blue Jays
2. Tampa Bay Rays
3. Boston Red Sox
4. New York Yankees
5. Baltimore Orioles

Summary: The young Blue Jays just barely missed the October dance last year, but with their young core still coming into their own we think this is the year they take the reigns in the AL East.

AL Central:

1. Chicago White Sox
2. Detroit Tigers
3. Minnesota Twins
4. Cleveland Guardians
5. Kansas City Royals

Summary: The White Sox definitely have the most talent in this division, and have for a couple of years now, it's just been a question of whether that talent can stay healthy. We think it will.

AL West:

1. Seattle Mariners
2. Los Angeles Angels
3. Houston Astros
4. Texas Rangers
5. Oakland Athletics

Summary: Yes. We are predicting this is finally the Mariners break through and end their playoff drought. Seattle is adding All-Stars Jesse Winker, and Adam Frazier to a lineup that will now get a full season of Jarred Kelenic, who last September started to flash the star potential everyone saw from him in the minors, as well as adding AL Cy Young winner Robbie Ray to a rotation with the steady Marco Gonzales, and young phenom Logan Gilbert. This should be enough for the Mariners to finally breakthrough and win their first pennant in two decades.

NL East:

1. Philadelphia Phillies
2. Atlanta Braves
3. New York Mets
4. Miami Marlins
5. Washington Nationals

Summary: After winning the world series last season the Braves shockingly let the heart and soul of their franchise leave for the other coastline as Freddie Freeman moved on to Los Angeles. The Mets spent big time money this off-season, but injuries are already a problem again as Jacob deGrom starts the year on the IL. That leaves the door open for a surprise, and we think it will be the Phillies. Philadelphia made sneaky good off-season moves adding Kyle Schwarber, and Nick Castellanos to an outfield with the reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper, and in a wide open division we think that is enough to push them to the top.

NL Central:

1. Milwaukee Brewers
2. St. Louis Cardinals
3. Chicago Cubs
4. Pittsburgh Pirates
5. Cincinnati Reds

Summary: Three teams in this division look like they're in rebuilding mode which leaves a two team race at the top between Milwaukee and St. Louis. We think Milwaukee's dominant pitching with three all-stars in the rotation will be enough to send them into the division title.

NL West:

1. Los Angeles Dodgers
2. San Francisco Giants
3. Arizona Diamondbacks
4. San Diego Padres
5. Colorado Rockies

Summary: The rich keep getting richer as the Dodgers reloaded this offseason with a former MVP and world series champion in Freddie Freeman. Meanwhile a Padres team that looked poised to compete with them for years to come just last season is suddenly mired in questions. The pitching staff is iffy at best, and Fernando Tatis' injuries are starting to pile up.

AL MVP: Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
NL MVP: Bryce Harper

AL Cy Young: Shane Bieber
NL Cy Young: Corbin Burnes

AL ROY: Julio Rodriguez
NL ROY: Seyia Suzuki

WORLD SERIES PREDICTION

Los Angeles Dodgers over Toronto Blue Jays

Ray Dominates as Mariners Start Campaign with Win

Eugenio Suárez rips one of his four hits on the night.

Seattle - Nothing about Thursday's season opener at T-Mobile park will quell Mariners fans optimism about the 2022 campaign. Their new staff ace was dominant on the mound, their new third baseman was dominant at the plate, and the Mariners got a dominant 7-0 win to kick off their season at home. Robbie Ray went the distance allowing just two hits, while striking out twelve as he doesn't show he's lost a bit of his Cy Young form from a year ago. At the dish it was Eugenio Suárez collecting four hits and knocking in three runs to lead the Mariners charge in front of a sold out crowd at T-Mobile Park. The celebrations will need to be short lived however as fun as Thursday night was, there are still 161 more of these to go, and it starts tomorrow night when Logan Gilbert takes the mound for the Mariners opposite Casey Mize for Detroit.

Mariners Lose Frazier, Game to Tigers

Seattle - The joys of Thursday night's season opener quickly turned to an agonizing time Friday night at T-Mobile Park. Adam Frazier, one of the Mariners key off-season acquisitions appeared to dislocate his shoulder diving for a ground ball in the fourth inning, and was taken out of the game by trainers, and the lineup that dominated the opener was shut down in this one as the Tigers got a 3-2 win over Seattle. The M's were held scoreless until the ninth inning, when a two run blast by Eugenio Suárez gave them life, but Jose Cisnero was able to finish Seattle off after that for the save. The two teams will be back here tomorrow, when we will hopefully find out more on the status of Frazier's injury. It will be Marco Gonzales taking the mound for your Mariners opposite Tarik Skubal.

Seattle - Mariners starter Chris Flexen was effective going eight innings for Seattle, while the M's blasted three home runs out of T-Mobile Park on their way to a 7-3 win over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday afternoon. Mitch Haniger, and Ty France went yard for the second day in a row, while Luis Torrens also took one deep in his first start of the season behind the plate. Mariners Hang On for 3-2 Win

Jesse Winker hits his first home run for the Mariners.

Seattle - Jesse Winker hit his first home run as a Mariner, as Seattle became the first team to defeat the Los Angeles Angels this season as they held on for a 3-2 win. After Max Stassi opened the scoring with a solo shot in the second inning off rookie Matt Brash, who was making his MLB Debut. Jesse Winker answered in the bottom of the third off the very first pitch. Sending it high up the seats out in right field to the delight of 37,000+ at T-Mobile Park. Seattle was able to add onto the lead in the sixth while getting stellar pitching once again from the bullpen. Matt Brash was shaky in his first start with four walks, but was able to get the outs when they mattered. The two teams will wrap up the quick two game set tomorrow as Robbie Ray (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will get his second start for the Mariners matching up with Shohei Ohtani (1-0, 0.00 ERA).

Re: Sea Us Rise: A Seattle Mariners Franchise (The Show '22)

Mariners Chase Ohtani, Sweep Angels

Seattle - The Mariners were able to get to Angels phenom Shohei Ohtani on Tuesday. After Robbie Ray had a rough fourth inning in which he gave up four runs the Mariners were able to bounce back and get to the Angels dynamic two-way player. After that Ray settled down, and the Mariners got a 7-4 win that pushed their record to 5-1 early on in the season. Jesse Winker homered for the second straight game, and tacked on a double as he continued his blistering start to the season. Seattle will now hit the road for the first time this year with a travel day tomorrow, before facing the Minnesota Twins on Thursday at Target Field.

Re: Sea Us Rise: A Seattle Mariners Franchise (The Show '22)

Mariners Ride Win Streak to Five in Extras

Abraham Toro turns the game ending double play.

Minneapolis - Going on the road did little to slow down the Mariners blistering start to the season. Seattle rode an outstanding effort from Logan Gilbert on the mound to pick them up while the bats struggled with rookie Joe Ryan from the Twins. Gilbert allowed just one run on two hits in seven innings, but was matched blow for blow by Ryan on the mound. Seattle was able to get the clutch hit in extras that the Twins could not as J.P. Crawford got the RBI single to give the Mariners the lead. Paul Sewald was then able to close the door for his fourth save on the season. The two teams will take tomorrow off before getting back into it on Saturday. It will be Marco Gonzales (1-0, 2.35 ERA) taking the mound against Chris Archer (0-1, 10.38 ERA).
