Re: Don't mess with Texas - A Texas Rangers Franchise
Feeling the heat, Rangers make changes
As unlucky as it may have been for the Texas Rangers to miss out on their first pennant, it wasn't for the want of trying. The team looked solid behind career seasons from Mike Napoli and Ian Kinsler. However, things won't be staying exactly the same.
Today the Rangers announced a new committee member, John Shelvey. Shelvey, 32, will be brought in under the new role "Head of Operations", involving assessing player trades, roster moves, free agency and promotional aspects. John Shelvey, who grew up in Arlington across the way from the ballpark, is a lifelong Rangers fan and understands the pressure of expectation.
"These fans here are the best in baseball," Shelvey began, "but I also want to help make them the happiest fans in baseball. We did so well last year but just couldn't capitalise but we are ready for another run, so there are exciting times ahead."
