The Little Things

I don't know how this thread disappeared, but I saw something today that I have never seen in over a year of playing this game non-stop, and I had to start this thread to post it.

In my second game with DJWolfpack, Derrick Thomas came on a delayed blitz from the nickle on 3rd and long. I didn't look his way, and so didn't see the blitz coming. DT got there, and when he did, he swung his right arm around my QBs back and slapped the ball out. He even stayed upright to try to make a play on the ball. The animation was super cool, and I can't believe I've never seen it. DJ got the recovery, and I had to replay it a few times just to see what the heck happened.

What "little things" have you guys seen recently that have reminded you just how cool this game is?

Sad that the original thread has disappeared.

Yeah, that play by DT was sick. Too bad I couldn't tie the game up.

One thing I've always liked about this game is how the RBs will put their hand on the back of an OL and "feel" the block and make the appropriate cut to the inside/outside.

Any defender that has the Ball Strip ability will attempt to do this on the QB. For some reason they only try this on the QB. Too Tall has done this a few times for me.

The coolest play I had was off line. I had my WR catch the ball in the snow and slide on his but like O.J. did and when the defenders came he bent backwards to miss there diving tackles and got up and kept running!

Re: The Little Things

That's interesting, 'cause in all the games I've played I've never seen it. I guess the fact that they only try it on the QB makes it extra rare--it's not too often that Tatum or Butkus get to the QB. And DT should get to the QB more than he does, IMO.

Re: The Little Things

I'd love to figure out how to get those ball strip guys to pull the ball out of non-QB ballcarriers' hands!

I saw a fumbled snap a couple of days ago and whenever I see a big hit I get so pumped because they are rare and therefore awesome. I also did have Jack Tatum plaster a WR today and knock the ball out... very rewarding!

Saw a cool animation from Charlie Taylor the other day. Someone tried to press him with Lem Barney, and Taylor punched him in the chops and knocked him on his arse. The guy replayed it in disbelief and I got a good chuckle out of it. That Bump Buster thing is no joke.

Re: The Little Things

I saw a pretty awesome INT against Trojan with Lester Hayes. Willie Gault caught a deep post off playaction and was just lit UP by another player, coughs up the ball, and lester picks it off.

I'm convinced Rod Woodson has the strongest ball hawk ability on this game. Every time a ball is in the air and it isn't caught, you better be ready for Rod to get a shot at it!
