Let's see...

Harrisburg, PA til 1987
Enola, PA for part of 1987-88
Camp Hill, PA from 1988-1998
Several places in Bloomsburg, PA from 1998-2002 (college)
Two places in Santa Monica, CA from 2002-03
Mechanicsburg, PA from 2003-05
Dauphin, PA from 2005-07
Harrisburg, PA in 2007
Hartford, CT from 2007-11
New Haven, CT from 2011-12
Two places in Mystic, CT from 2012-present

So that's 11 moves to different areas, and then a few moves within those areas. Overall, anywhere from 16-18 total. I guess I don't like to stay in one place.

Might have the single city record.
I have loved in 9 different places in San Francisco in the past 16 years. Reasons for moving include deportation, fire, shooting and mice.

If I only count places I lived at for a year or more I'm at 13 in 34 years. If we include places I lived at or was stationed at for less than a year I'm at 18 moves in 34 years.

The 6 years I spent living on Fort Lewis from January '07 to November '12 is the longest I've lived in one place.

I'm thinking this crowd moves above average for someone in the US (our non-USers accepted). Does that seem right? Or do I underestimate how much the average person moves in this country?

7. wife's condo after marriage (6 mos) [Owings Mills]

Definitely not in the running, but interesting to see where everyone's been, so I'll add mine.

1. Born in Portsmouth, NH
2. Move to Woodstock, GA
3. Move to Gainesville, GA
4. Move to Exeter, NH at 5 years old
5. Move to Newburyport, MA at 23 years old
6. Move to Springfield VT at 26 years old
7. Move to Plainfield, VT
8. Move to Walden, VT
9. Move to Bath, ME

Nine moves but I spent my formative years in one town, in one house. Makes for a contrast in the family with my oldest sister who moved a lot and only lived in that house for a few years before getting married. To me that's our family home, to her it was just another place.

Wonder who has the biggest move in terms of distance? I can put up Cardiff, Wales to LA which is around 5400 miles but I'm sure there are a bunch in thread who already have me beat

Under 4 years of age was pretty sketchy. Moved a lot and parents got divorced, so there may be 3 or 4 spots there, but we'll start counting when my mom moved in with my step-father:

1. House in Avondale, GA (4-8)
2. House in Stone Mountain, GA (8-18)
3. College Dorms (2 different dorms in 4 years, 3 rooms in the second dorm) (18-22)
3.a. Lived in Valdosta, GA for 3 of college summers.
4. I'll count my 3 different apartments during law school as a/b/c, because my name was on different leases there.
a. Apartment in Charlottesville
b. Room in House in Keswick, VA
c. Room in House in Scottsville/Charlottesville/Brown's Mountain, VA
d. Lived in my parent's house in Dunwoody, GA after my first year of law school
e. Apartment in Westwood, CA after my second year in law school.
5. Apartment in Los Angeles with wife (her original apartment) for about a month after we got married. (lived there one month)
6. Apartment in Los Angeles with wife for two years.
7. Bought house in Hollywood...lived there 8 years.
8. Moved to Studio City (another house) two years ago.

Put me in cuervo's camp.

3. Lived in Sedgeford (Norfolk) until I was a teenager
4-5. Sporadically lived away from home after the age of 14(ish) and stayed in digs in various places - most notably Hunstanton and Norwich.
6. Moved back home to Sedgeford (Norfolk) when I was 16-17
7. Went to University in Brighton (Sussex)
8. Moved back home to Sedgeford after leaving Maths/Business degree.
9. Moved to Cromer (Norfolk) for work before going back to university University to Study Software Engineering.
10. Moved to Hove (Sussex) to attend University for Software Engineering.
11. Moved to Shoreham (Sussex) during my second year doing SE.
12. Moved to Crawley (Sussex) for my second job.
13. Moved to Pulborough (Sussex) when I was working freelance
14. Moved to Kingston (London) when I started working at Sports Interactive Ltd.
15. Moved to Worcester Park (London) when I settled down with my wife.
16. Moved to Royston (Hertfordshire) when we realised schools in Worcester Park weren't that awesome.
17-18. Moved through 2 other addresses in Royston.
19 Moved to Viera Florida when we emigrated
20 Moved to Melbourne Florida where I am now

Thats 20 odd moves and I think around 15 unique towns.

The strange thing is - I don't think I've moved around that much - never felt 'unstable' and I always generally have felt at home where ever I am

PS - This list ignores various places where I stayed for periods between 1-3 months when working in the aviation field (but included Oklahoma, Berne (Switzerland) and a few other random places where simulators happened to be installed).

I didn't include Spain or Japan here, because all my living stuff was still back in the States.

This doesnt include places where i/we lived for short periods of time
Perth Amboy,Depew, Berlin, Ulanbataar, etc. 2-3 months or so each

Quite a bit of moving for 40 years

I've added one more home on Ashton in Buffalo and I bought a house in Europe since then.

While I don't have a huge amount of homes over the years I think distance wise combined I have the most here

I had no idea what either meant until I just went and urban dictionary'd it. And if it's the meaning I think it is, which was not what I expected, I now have this image of Jon as a chain smoking valley girl from the south, which doesn't really make much of an image at all.

This one's easy...

1) Born in Millville in 1969
2) Moved to another area in Millville in 1990
3) Moved to Mays Landing in 1997
4) Moved to another area in Mays Landing in 2007
5) Moved to another area in Mays Landing in 2012

Almost had a move to San Diego in 2003 (thankfully that didn't happen as I heard the company didn't turn that position into a permanent position like they said they were going to).

Almost had a move to Biloxi in 2004 (glad I didn't thanks to Katrina, it also would have meant a required move to St. Louis as the company I almost went to work for had their headquarters destroyed in Biloxi and turned a secondary St. Louis office into their headquarters afterwards); came real close to that one but they couldn't wait and wanted me there immediately so I said no thanks.

Basically 4 moves and have never been more than 20 miles from the home I grew up in.

I would find it hard to move away from here to be honest. I have friends that I have known since I was 4 that I still get together with (we play poker every couple months).
