"I got a" made me think of the Georgia Sattelites song [edit - Keep Your Hands to Yourself}, but I didn't think it was right because I thought it started out "I got change in my pocket"

But then it hit me that it is "I got a little change in my pocket going janga langa lang" A quick check verified.

AC/DC hit me right after I left work And damn, I should have had Dirty Laundry (I figured it was I make my living, and I'd heard the song today!).

I'd also submit as an alternative:

The Way It Is, Bruce Hornsby & The Range

Standing in line, marking time
Waiting for the welfare dime

You guys are doing great... but I wonder - why keep reprinting your own edited list of blanks, when you could have just used mine? Just seems like you went out of your way to add a lot of typing and hassle, when you could have just used my original list. Who knows, maybe that would have helped you with some of your tough calls... and by using your own list, it seems to me like you've totally ignored that one row of clues is listed twice (on purpose, of course).

I had noticed that...and was trying to figure it if you meant for us to use the same solution twice or not, or if there was another song that applied.

I'm not sure why nobody copied and pasted your list.

I can sing the whole who can I song in my mind but damn if I know the name of it. By a girl. I think it is "How can I live without your love", but not sure by who. Also that is not the first line.

"If you ever leave, baby you would take away everything good in my life"

Dola, "Now how can I, get through the night without you, if I had to live without you, what kind of life would that be." or maybe I am completely wrong and it is "how do I" in which case I have wasted some precious brain cells.

Now, how can it be that a love carved out of caring, fahsioned by fate, sffer so hard from the games played once to often but making mistakes is part of life's impefections. Born of the years is it so wrong, were only human after all. (SOmething like that the song is a little jumbled in my mind)

Song title- Something about you

BY- Uhh, err, The Thompson Twins? I guess I don't know.

WHOOOOOOHOOOOOO! and Goodnight!

Well... looks like most of this has been solved. Anyone care to pull it all together, and point out where at least one of your answers differs from mine... and how you can be sure (you can).

Well lets see...taken in the original order, the artists are alphabetical. I guess 'ABC' as the first group should have been a tipoff. From our list, we would have:

ABC
Adams, Bryan
Brickell, Edie
Culture Club
Dexy's Midnight Runners
Dolby, Thomas
Duran Duran
Naked Eyes (?? either out of order, or going by Eyes)
Fogarty, John
Gabriel, Peter
Geils, J.
Georgia Satellites
Henley, Don
AC/DC
Hornsby, Bruce
Level 42 (not the Thompson Twins, but the right song)
Nails
Naked Eyes (ah, this is where we belong)
Stray Cats
Talking Heads
Van Halen
Wang Chung
Phil Collins
Young, Paul

So it looks like we have 2, maybe 3 that we need to find the correct answers for.

Now, I haven't been able to figure out if there is a next step, as there was for the last song puzzle. I'm guessing there may be.

I thought so, too... but alas.

Nope, nothing more... just a few more holes to fill here.

This all got started as Mrs. Q and I have started playing this like a "name that tune" trivia game... see how many words you need before you can name the song. "I walk along" was the first that we found that had two good, strong answers... but now I can see that there might well be plenty of them.

Actually, the AC/DC song is a lot more prominent than the song I picked for "She was a..." -- but I'm still hopeful that someone can get it.

Doing lyrics-based puzzles is tough in the internet age. Mrs. Q is very sharp, especially in the 80s, without any assistance.

Well, I did a little searching (yes, it is tough not to in the internet age ), and "Always Something There To Remind Me" was also released by Burt Bacharach (who knew?), The Hippos, and Marvelous 3, none of which fit the puzzle.

I'll have to tax my brain some more, but it could take a long time Maybe I should ask Mrs. Cuervo, she probably remembers 80's music better than I do.

Indeed - I'm looking for a different song, also from the 80s (and very well known, I'd say), which also happens to start with the words "I walk along."

This looks like a fun puzzle, sorry I missed it.

Dumb question, but I can't tell from just scanning this thread: which ones are you still stuck on?

cuervo' list just above gets you pretty well caught up to date... the ones he bolded and questioned didn't fit the alpha order - I count three remaining open.

"She was a" and "I can feel".

I was searching for 'Eurythmics', thinking they might be the answer for "I walk along" and found this. So, I suppose the answer is Flock Of Seagulls, I Ran .

edit: dammit, I can't seem to spell 'seagulls' today...

OK, thanks for the catch-up.

My first thought for "I can feel ..." was "St. Elmo's Fire" from Man in Motion, but if I remember right that was David Foster, which doesn't fit the alphabetical theme.

I'm pretty sure that was by John Parr... whoch also doesn't fit.

My theory was that at this point, the alpha clues would be the way to fill in the blanks - like curervo searching Eurythmics, since he knew that one rested between Duran and Fogerty. There aren't all that many bands down there in the bottom of the alphabet, seems to me.

Whitesnake comes to mind...but that doesn't strike me as being right.

Yankovic, Yes, Yello (Oh Yeah has no lyrics...),

She was a bebop baby on a hard day's night - And We Danced, Hooters

A couple of years after Hooters' hits, my high school was arranging to come and have them play (they were from Philly). Well, they couldn't sell enough tickets to fill the gym (I believe it was to be held there and not the auditorium), so they scrapped the show.

Yes - Leave It.

I was not as familiar with that one, I'm sure I've heard it, but not very often. Funny, some of the elements in the song remind me of The Art of Noise for some reason.

edit: I had to search for that one, but this late in the game I figured that was ok. What's funny is that I found it with "Wakeman" in the search string rather than "Yes".
