I understand that retirement is a personal decision and that I might very well be conflicted too when it is time to leave a job that I love.

But was it really worth coming back just for the one year? I figured that when he decided to un-retire, it would be for a few years. Why tarnish the legacy for one year? Makes no sense to me. But, as noted above, maybe it just makes no sense period because it is a hard decision.

I was hoping he would return to the Jets, have another mediocre season, and further delay the team finding their next quarterback. Oh well.

Imagine how good the Packers would have been had they handled their defensive line as well as they handled their QB situation.

Sports radio in Milwaukee were pissing their pants over the news. They keep insisting it is huge, but I'm not sure why at this point.

I'm a Jet fan, and not giddy with glee. I am mildly happy, as I felt Favre kept them out of the playoffs last year.

Yes, I'd rather have Favre than Clemens.

But, if Favre comes back, there is no other option. I am happy about this because it means they will likely have someone else other than Favre or Clemens starting next year.

Yeah, they interrupted talk about the A-Rod steroid story up here in Green Bay to bring folks on to discuss Favre's retirement.

Not that I particularly want to hear about either story, but I think A-Rod is slightly bigger news than Favre retiring for the fifth year in a row, or whatever it is.

We've moved on from both topics in Oklahoma. The big deal is that the Oklahoma State basketball coach got in trouble for cussing at a player.

It's too bad Favre decided to come back and tarnish his legacy. Jets fans applauded his retirement and Packer fans could care less. Once the Packers get a real defense to go with their offense, Favre will be long forgotten.

Great line (paraphrased here as well as I can remember it) from new Jets coach Rex Ryan on the Jim Rome show today. Rome was trying to goad Ryan into a Packerish "he said he's retiring so his ass can bloody well stay retired" comment. And Rome pretty much got what he wanted, IMO:

Rome: "So you've made the decision that even if he decides in July he wants to come back, that Favre will not be quarterbacking the Jets next season?"
Ryan: "Jim, I think that decision has been made -- by Brett Favre."

That's close, anyway. The tone definitely hinted that the Jets were pleased to be rid of Favre.
