This is a more tilted toward Obama. The poll I found (not linked, sorry), had a 53-37 Kerry margin. This one, as of now, is 56-19 Obama. Draw your own conclusions.

Oh, I see we're already off topic. Nevermind.

Yeah I agree.

I definitely won't vote for BHO but McCain really doesn't excite me enough to get off the couch and vote.

+1

And that's even from someone who has found his second term incredibly disappointing, but not so much from the things he did but rather the things he didn't do.

4 years ago, if I recall the threads, there were a lot of "holding their nose" or "lesser of two evils" voting. I tend to view the word "supporting" in a narrow sense - just because one voted for someone, doesn't mean that one supports that someone. I don't recall the last time I voted for a president and it certainly won't happen again this year. My vote will actually come down how Colorado polls before the election. The only thing I want to vote for is gridlock.

As far as the board leanings, no one can accurately say because most judge others from their own political position on the spectrum but it does hearten me to hear the perception that there are too many libertarians here.

But according to the results of this poll so far, there are not enough. Sab said it best.

Bucc - you realize I'm not Noop, right? You can tell us apart, yes? The point is, that if you look at general American polling data, you would damn well see that white men generally lean to the GOP. My point here isn't to say that its good or bad - just guessing. If this was a group made up primarily of 30 something lesbians, I'd guess it probably leans Democrat.

And this board was never overrun with conservatives. A strong libertarian leaning plurality that maybe you thought were Republicans.I have no idea what you're talking about here. I'm pretty sure we have the same pointless political pissing contests here (although less often because it seems everyone has hashed out their position multiple times by now and no ones changing anyones mind). As for people afraid to speak out in 2004? Really? (Besides, not that it matters much, but weren't you in Korea 4 years ago?)

Yes, four years ago I was in Korea but working with Americans and alot of my infernce was I suppose from being on this board. It just appeared after 9-11 the whole either with us and against us pervaded the society. I didn't need to live on applebrook lane, in South Bend Indiana to see that. But, that aside I agree with some of your assertions. Though I can't say the same about voting for Bush todayI did vote for him in 2000 but voted thrid party last time around. I too am starting to lean towards the Libertarian way and wasn't referring to their basic platform it is more the neo conservative/ staunch republican positions (some not all) that am against.

Maybe for the first couple months (and even then I remember and can show you plenty of examples of people vocally disagreeing with our invasion of Afghanistan and not being sent to jail) but by Nov 2004 I assure you we were well back into partisan gridlock.

For serious commentary on the election, there's no way Obama should lose. Based off the metrics with economic growth, presidential approval rating and incumbency, he has <2% chance of losing, and he's facing a candidate who has run a terrible campaign to date. Yet somehow he keeps losing ground and McCain has nearly tied him in the polls. Presumably this is the post-nomination consolidation where the media puts out all the bad stories and by the fall Obama can sweep through, but he really does seem to be fucking up left and right and in the process of rectifying one wrong he causes two more. Short of a war on Iran starting in the next 2 months, the entire DNC should quit out of embarassment if Obama doesn't pull at least 350 electoral votes. And the entire RNC should have quit years ago for letting it get to this point. Yay two party system. (Don't blame me, I voted for the Dolphins fan.)

Well, I'm a good little American that keeps my tires inflated so I'm doing my part already to save us from having to drill. No need to vote for the puppet, err..Messiah, known as Obama. Either voting third party or McCain (depending on his VP pick).

I'm not an Obama fan, but I sure as hell wouldn't vote for McCain either. I'll either vote Ron Paul (even if he is insane, and I have to write him in), or I won't vote at all.

I'm not a big fan of McCain. Not a fan at all really. But he gets my vote because I don't think I agree with any of Obama's fundamental Democrat beliefs. That being said, I will support Obama when he is my President even though I did not vote for him.

Oh, one other thing: McCain will be a puppet too. You can't attain the presidency without owing a lot of favors to a lot of people/organizations/corporations.

Hey, look!!! We can argue about politics even when we're 2,000+ miles away from each other too!!

I'm going to sort the votes by state to create an electoral college. I'll just go by the location listed in your profile. If you plan on voting in a different state from that, or didn't list one, feel free to PM me and let me know. Also, if you want to put in a vote but didn't want to vote in the public poll, you can also PM me.
