I disagree with that. You can have all the features......at a price. BC is available on the 80 GB machine. Similarly, new versions of the 360 have also been much higher in price when features are added (Elite as an example is only $50 cheaper with no HD media player). Some consumers wanted a cheaper version of the PS3 and Sony evidently cut what they felt they needed to cut in order to meet that need and still provide a fully functioning gaming system and BR player with Wifi built-in. I agree that some may not like that move and may not buy yet (or at all) as a result, but there are also going to be a lot of consumers that jump on the cheaper priced PS3.

I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying that. My automobile comparisons may not be to your liking, but that shouldn't distract from what the situations currently is in the market.

I should mention that my opinion of luxury automobiles may not be the same as yours. They're nice, but I'd never drop a dime on one as they are severely overpriced and not worth it IMO.

I think your putting too much stock into the niche features of video gaming systems. Whatever company puts out a quality system at a fair price and can back it up with a range of quality games will win the war.

But you have to remember that people in japan rarely have people over to their places. So it's not surprising that Japanese people have a bigger abandon rate.

But the families in houses will keep the wii going strong.

Also, Nintendo's making money on each one sold-- unlike M$ and $ony.

I would mention that we don't know that Japan has a bigger abandon rate. We don't have any U.S. data to use as a comparison, so we really can't jump to that conclusion.

No one can argue the economic model with Nintendo. Making money on a sale of any type is always better than losing money on each transaction.

You seem to have missed my point. There is some value in those features to some, but my point spoke specifically to the fact that the niche features in the PS3 are what is hurting its sales figures, especially given the high price that it was released at.
