Legends of Wrestlemania Roster Wish List
Plenty of great ideas fail: Pepsi Crystal, New Coke, trading for Victor Zambrano, the original Hulk movie and…Legends of Wrestling. The concept was sound, but the gameplay did not come through. Now with WWE Legends of WrestleMania releasing in time for WrestleMania XXV, a do over is upon us.

We can go over The Rocks, Hulk Hogans, and Steve Austins forever, but they’re the obvious choices. I’m going to go over the wrestling legends who haven’t gotten their time to shine.

Randy “Macho Man” Savage

Apparently Vince McMahon doesn’t think highly of Savage, but that shouldn’t stop Yukes from including one of the most decorated and charismatic wrestlers in WWE/WCW history. “The Macho Man” won the WWE title at WrestleMania IV against Ted Dibiase and again at WrestleMania VIII against Ric Flair. His rap career wasn’t as big a success, but Randy Savage is definitely a legend of WrestleMania.

Brock Lesnar

He was only in the WWE for two years, but the mark he made was undeniable. Originally managed by Paul Heyman, Lesnar tore through the WWE in his rookie year, winning the King of the Ring, the WWE Undisputed Championship, and the Royal Rumble. He’s only 31 and he has moved on to the UFC, but a WWE return is not out of the question. Lesnar’s WWE run is highlighted by his WrestleMania XIX match with Kurt Angle.

Bruno Sammartino

Most young wrestling fans don’t know what he looks like, let alone his name and credentials. Sammartino held the WWWF title for over 10 years in two different reigns, by far the most ever. He left the WWE for good in 1987, competing in a battle royal at WrestleMania 2 at the age of 52.

The Ultimate Warrior

The Ultimate Warrior is one of the most elusive and enigmatic characters in the history of the business. With a real name of Warrior, the artist formerly known as Jim Hellwig has left quite an impression on the industry, influencing current stars like Batista. He defeated the immortal Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VI in Toronto, becoming the first man to hold the WWE title and Intercontinental title.

Yokozuna

Upon his arrival in the WWE, Yokozuna was unbeatable. He defeated Bret Hart at WrestleMania IX in Las Vegas, before losing the belt the same night to Hulk Hogan. He further cemented his legacy when at WrestleMania X, he beat Lex Luger to defend his WWE title. Though he lost to Bret Hart later in the night, Yokozuna’s WWE career was a successful one. He passed away in 2000, which is all the more reason why WWE fans should be able to play as him in Legends of WrestleMania.

Here is a list of some other wrestlers from WWE, WCW, and ECW who have appeared in recent WWE games or should definitely be in this game as well.

Mr. Perfect
The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase
Taz (ECW version)
Bam Bam Bigelow
Bret Hart
Owen Hart
Mick Foley
Eddie Guerrero
Rowdy Roddy Piper
Dusty Rhodes
The Undertaker
Shawn Michaels
Goldberg
Sandman
Sabu
Tommy Dreamer
Terry Funk
Ric Flair
The Road Warriors
The Iron Sheik
Vader

There are plenty of wrestlers who can be a part of this game, some I listed, and some I missed. Who do you think should be in Legends of WrestleMania? Who do you think is overrated and shouldn’t be in the game? Be sure to let me know!

I haven't been tracking this thread, but is there a chance Sting(crow) can be in the game?

If you watch the videos on IGN these names are confirmed in the game

1. Hulk Hogan
2. Andre
3. Bobby Heenan
4. Iron Sheik
5. Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake
6. Big John Studd
7. Junk Yard Dog
8. Shawn Michaels
9. Bam Bam Bigelow
10. Sgt. Slaughter
11. Dusty Rhodes
12. Stone Cold
13. The Rock
14. Roddy Piper
15. Ultimate Warrior

I must say I am surprised by Bam Bam, Big John Studd and Dusty Rhodes. I am happy to see JYD made it in. He was one of my favorites as a kid.

There will be another roster video on Monday.

I think the novelty of this game is great. I can't wait for it.

That's a solid first list and I saw the video yesterday as well. Nice to see that in the vids of Dusty they didn't show him with the polka dots which was a bit of a surprise to me.

I wish Macho Man would be in it... whatever happened between him and Vince must have been epic.

Well if the "sex with young steph" rumor is true then yeah it's EPIC!

Ok... I thought this was Legends of WrestleMania, and Dusty Rhodes was only in one WM. Bam Bam was only in two of them. And I'm sorry, but I would hardly call Brutus a Legend.

And from watching the videos, it looks like they are going for arcade gameplay (it was even stated as such in one of the movies). As a lifelong fan of the WWE, I find this incredibly disappointing. Nobody should be able to suplex Andre the Giant. And, in this generation of video gaming, the characters animations should not be shared, and here they are. Again, Andre doesn't "feel" like Andre should, the way that he was loosening up in one of the videos for example. And look at HBK; quite frankly, he looks awful.

I know that it may sound as though I'm nitpicking, but I'm so sick and tired of wrestling game developers being so lazy.Trust me, this is going to be a rental, and probably not too far off from the Legends of Wrestling games that plagued us a while back.

I'm going to pass.

I would say Bam Bam's match with LT makes him a Wrestlemania legend by itself. Sure, it may not be a great match or popular among diehards, but at the time it was big.

I'm debating if this is a buy or rental. I'll probably end up buying it and being disappointed later

I hope guys like Tito Santana, Ricky Steamboat, Jimmy Snuka, Ted Dibiase do make it in. Santana, Dibiase, and Snuka were in quite a few Mania's too.

Yeah...I can just imagine Macho Man saying "Break into a Stephanie...OH YEAH!"

I saw an article that speculated this, and it makes sense. Bret Hart's got a DVD, in the Hall of Fame, etc, even though Vince and Bret hated each other. Macho Man must have done something horrible to piss Vince off that badly.

Dibiase and Sunka are in but no word on the other 2. I would not mind seeing Steamboat but I am not a big fan of Tito Santana.

Steamboat would be great. I like Tito. Does he still do the Spanish broadcasts for the WWE?

How can you not like Chico Santana!?

Actually i'd love to see both Tito and Rick Martel in this game or if sales are good enough then in the next one as i'd love to see Strike Force reunited in video game form.

I am wondering if the manager Slick is going to be in the game.

Here are the first names announced

1. Hulk Hogan
2. Andre
3. Bobby Heenan
4. Iron Sheik
5. Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake
6. Big John Studd
7. Junk Yard Dog
8. Shawn Michaels
9. Bam Bam Bigelow
10. Sgt. Slaughter
11. Dusty Rhodes
12. Stone Cold
13. The Rock
14. Roddy Piper
15. Ultimate Warrior

Here are the next ones confirmed in IGN's video

16. Hawk
17. Animal
18. Jimmy Hart
19. Greg Valentine
20. Hacksaw Duggan
21. British Bulldog
22. Bret Hart

With Greg Valentine being in there will be at least 2 tag teams in their with the Legion of Doom and Valentine and Beefcake. If Nikolai Volkoff is in then their would be 3 with Iron Sheik and Volkoff.

I have read in a couple places that Big Bossman, Mr. Perfect, Jake Roberts and The Undertaker are in but they were not in any of IGN's videos. If they are included (which I would not doubt they are) this brings the list of confirmed wrestlers to 26.

# 58 jangotangos @ 02/13/09 12:37 AM
rajah.com has what appears to be the complete roster; it has 42 names, but no Snuka, no Savage, no Steamboat, no Sid.

MAJOR disappointment.

I was suprised by Neidhart, Yokozuna, Mr. Fuji, Kamla and Hunter Hearst Helmsley. The others names I was expecting. The final IGN video will be Monday and then all characters will be confirmed. Should be interesting who the last 10 will be.

Any Bad News Brown, Ghetto Blaster LOL. Demolition? Roster looks good but some names should be there. Can't believe no Sid. No Razor Ramon, Diesel. Ohhh well, not getting the game right away anyways.
