Legends of Wrestlemania Roster Wish List
Plenty of great ideas fail: Pepsi Crystal, New Coke, trading for Victor Zambrano, the original Hulk movie and…Legends of Wrestling. The concept was sound, but the gameplay did not come through. Now with WWE Legends of WrestleMania releasing in time for WrestleMania XXV, a do over is upon us.

We can go over The Rocks, Hulk Hogans, and Steve Austins forever, but they’re the obvious choices. I’m going to go over the wrestling legends who haven’t gotten their time to shine.

Randy “Macho Man” Savage

Apparently Vince McMahon doesn’t think highly of Savage, but that shouldn’t stop Yukes from including one of the most decorated and charismatic wrestlers in WWE/WCW history. “The Macho Man” won the WWE title at WrestleMania IV against Ted Dibiase and again at WrestleMania VIII against Ric Flair. His rap career wasn’t as big a success, but Randy Savage is definitely a legend of WrestleMania.

Brock Lesnar

He was only in the WWE for two years, but the mark he made was undeniable. Originally managed by Paul Heyman, Lesnar tore through the WWE in his rookie year, winning the King of the Ring, the WWE Undisputed Championship, and the Royal Rumble. He’s only 31 and he has moved on to the UFC, but a WWE return is not out of the question. Lesnar’s WWE run is highlighted by his WrestleMania XIX match with Kurt Angle.

Bruno Sammartino

Most young wrestling fans don’t know what he looks like, let alone his name and credentials. Sammartino held the WWWF title for over 10 years in two different reigns, by far the most ever. He left the WWE for good in 1987, competing in a battle royal at WrestleMania 2 at the age of 52.

The Ultimate Warrior

The Ultimate Warrior is one of the most elusive and enigmatic characters in the history of the business. With a real name of Warrior, the artist formerly known as Jim Hellwig has left quite an impression on the industry, influencing current stars like Batista. He defeated the immortal Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VI in Toronto, becoming the first man to hold the WWE title and Intercontinental title.

Yokozuna

Upon his arrival in the WWE, Yokozuna was unbeatable. He defeated Bret Hart at WrestleMania IX in Las Vegas, before losing the belt the same night to Hulk Hogan. He further cemented his legacy when at WrestleMania X, he beat Lex Luger to defend his WWE title. Though he lost to Bret Hart later in the night, Yokozuna’s WWE career was a successful one. He passed away in 2000, which is all the more reason why WWE fans should be able to play as him in Legends of WrestleMania.

Here is a list of some other wrestlers from WWE, WCW, and ECW who have appeared in recent WWE games or should definitely be in this game as well.

Mr. Perfect
The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase
Taz (ECW version)
Bam Bam Bigelow
Bret Hart
Owen Hart
Mick Foley
Eddie Guerrero
Rowdy Roddy Piper
Dusty Rhodes
The Undertaker
Shawn Michaels
Goldberg
Sandman
Sabu
Tommy Dreamer
Terry Funk
Ric Flair
The Road Warriors
The Iron Sheik
Vader

There are plenty of wrestlers who can be a part of this game, some I listed, and some I missed. Who do you think should be in Legends of WrestleMania? Who do you think is overrated and shouldn’t be in the game? Be sure to let me know!

Oh,and on the whole managers thing. I just wish that the manager could become involved in and turn the tide of a match. I remember they did that on Champion Wrestler,an arcade game back in the day. If you picked the wrestler who had the manager,if you pressed a certain button combo the manager would get in the ring and hit the guy with his cane. Good stuff.
I saw in one of the writeups where Bobby Heenan got on the apron during the Hogan Andre match.

Shouldn't realy do this, but OK. From the new Observer newsletter:

Quote:
Vince McMahon pulled Foley from the “Legends of Wrestlemania” videogame I believe this past week or the week before. There were several names for whatever reason that he wouldn’t allow to be featured in the game, but videogame world sources indicated the two THQ was most unhappy about not being able to feature were Foley and Randy Savage. We know Hulk Hogan will be one of the key featured guys in the game, and from the process of elimination, if Foley and Savage are the two they are most unhappy about not being there, that locks in Rock as being in. The key three would be Hogan, Rock and Austin, and since Austin is with the company right now, he was always a lock. I’d presume Bret Hart would be as well.
Hopefully, the CAW system will take care of that.

why are some of these people want ECW/WCW wrestlers in the game? Thought the game is called "legends of WRESTLEMANIA" not wrestling. Like Sting, sure hes "the man" but has he ever been in a wrestlemania event? same goes for mikey whipwreck, tommy dreamer and other non wrestlemania eventers, but up to you people

Tommy Dreamer has actually been in a few Wrestlemanias.

Ok, this may not make sense to some of you, but, being a wrestling fan, this game will only stipulate WWE wrestlers from the past along with the gimmicks at the time. Meaning, no WCW or ECW wrestlers. If you haven't watch each wrestlemania and there is what could be in this game. I'd love to have sting vs. flair but it can't happen here because it's strictly WWE. So if you make your "wish lists," they could only be WWE which sucks :/

Several of those you mentioned were never in a Wrestlemania and Tony Shiavone (thank the Lord) was never in the WWE/F.

Actually he was.

You probably have a mental block to it though. He was ostensibly hired to take over for Gorilla Monsoon but he bombed big time. I think it was 1990 or so when he was hired. He was around for close to a year. His most infamous moment was the entire SummerSlam card that year where he totally bombed and Jesse Ventura openly mocked the guy for nearly 3 hrs straight. This was the SummerSlam where Mean Gene said "F%&^k it" backstage after a prop fell.

Anyways Vince quickly realized that Tony's style didn't fit the WWF brand and Tony basically did dark matches, video tape matches and the occasional Superstars/Challenge.

Good call, SPTO. It was 1989. That Mean Gene "Eff it!" backstage thing is priceless. It's on youtube if anyone is interested.
