OS Roundtable: If You Could Add Just One Feature to NBA 2K15...

If you could add one feature to NBA 2K15, what would it be?

James Kerti: I'd most like to see a new, revamped "Player DNA." Too often in the NBA 2K series, it feels like AI-controlled teams and players don't play to their real-life strengths. Nailing that aspect of the game would increase the realism factor while also leading each game to take on its own unique strategic importance. I feel that in NBA 2K14, as a general rule, the same principles and strategies work in every game. Having to gameplan separately for each team and superstar you go against would add significantly more depth to the experience.

Jayson Young: NBA 2K15 will be missing out on a huge opportunity if it ships without cooperative 5 vs. 5 online leagues similar to NHL 14's EA Sports Hockey League.

NBA 2K14's current 5 vs. 5 mode, The Park, just has so many design issues, from long wait times, to reduced court dimensions, to outrageous player attributes, that it's not much fun to play. Putting 5 vs. 5 games back inside NBA arenas, with players who aren't rated 99 in every category, would improve the experience tremendously.

Give this new mode an "online seasons" structure similar to Madden NFL or FIFA Soccer, allow friends to join a permanent team, give club owners the ability to design a custom court and unique uniforms, track and rank league-wide statistics for every participating player, and NBA 2K could go from being one of the worst cooperative sports games to one of the best.

And please, make "ratings only" shooting an option for these 5 vs. 5 matches, so that input lag will stop interfering with NBA 2K's online fun factor.

Matthew Coe: If I could only add one feature to NBA 2K15 it would be the re-introduction of an offline Association mode on XBO and PS4. Without this mode and only MyGM's flawed base in the game, 2K14 on PS4 hasn't had the same replay value as 2K basketball titles have had in previous years to me. It seems like 2K is moving away from offline (no local roster saves, always online) Association mode and towards the MyGM, MyCareer, etc modes that require a connection to 2K's servers for VC tracking.

I think it's a huge mistake to ignore the many, many devoted gamers who have enjoyed this game with both OS community made and home made rosters and have spent countless hours editing the game. The push to keep connected to 2K's servers and use "official' 2K rosters, combined with no Association mode, has been a real kill-joy for me.

Glenn Wigmore: I have to agree with Jayson's sentiment for five-on-five online team play, as that just seems like such an obvious missing puzzle piece for the NBA 2K franchise. I honestly can't count how much enjoyment NHL and FIFA have given me from the team-based action. In those games, everyone gets to play a role and work towards a common purposel. The "seasons" element gives your team a small goal to work towards as well a long-term goal.

Basketball is a sport with so much creativity and co-op possibilities that it's a shame to see NBA 2K hang back in this regard. People love to go wild with custom appearances and uniforms for their player/team in FIFA and NHL, and it only seems like a natural fit for the NBA brand. I've enjoyed being able to play co-op with friends against the AI, but the chance to play against full human squads is even more enticing.

Chris Sanner: The question says one thing, but I actually have to very easy additions. First, the menus in NBA 2K14 are the worst in any major sports game and perhaps video games, period. There is nothing good or redeeming about them. I literally am still finding new things in them because there are options buried deep inside of them and in places which make no logical sense. They just need to be fixed.

Secondly, the obvious answer is to eliminate VC from modes not named MyPlayer. I should not have to earn points to set my lineup ever. So in light of the other great answers given, those two 'features' are the two must-haves and easy to implement features in NBA 2K15.

I just want CPU vs CPU back in GM Mode

I'm a offline player, Association return with working 32 team control and good free agent/trade logic would be most wanted. Add more commentary to that also.

Separation of MyPlayer for online and offline. I don't want my experience to be limited offline because my created player could mess up some leader-boards.
Playing offline I should be able to create a career long off the bench role player or if I choose, the second coming of Michael Jordan without having to grind for VC/points.

i would add a pre-season to the my carrer mode. that way your player is not incompetent when the season starts. most players have a offensive game coming into the nba.

Intelligent CPU trading

and if thats not posible then sort sort of override ok or declining cpu to cpu trades

why would any team trade say a star young cheap PG when in playoff contention for 2 backup pf's when they already have 3

Create a player and export teams ... SAVE MY FILES IN THE HARD DRIVE (but that should be an obligation)

I will not buy another NBA 2K game until I have full edit options back for my GM/Association mode and can save those changes locally.

I would love to have the ability to split double teams similar to how guards do in the NBA.

5 vs 5 mode similar to EA games would save the game from all the other problems it has. It has worked for EA for years. And unfortunately 2K14 next gen is filled with bugs and holes.

If you could coach in nba 2k15... I would love it! Calling up plays, and then trying to get your players to work. That would be insanely awesome.

First off, they need to get the D-League back in. Why did they spend all of this time putting in European teams when no one really uses them except in exhibitions? Plus, D-league affects all game modes and would be really useful in Franchise. Along with that, I'd love them to add custom plays again, like in the 2k college hoops series. That probably won't happen, but a man can dream, can't he?

A Proper and Present Create A Player is essential to roster makers.

I wanted a next gen console since the announcement but with a few things taking up a bit of my time, I'm not too fussed... And I'm glad i didnt get one considering the mess that is 2K basketball.

It feels like 2K is doing everything in their power to control the user via an online connection. They've taken away some features and added a couple without consumer interaction., at least not at the same level it once was, and the end result is a stale game, according to some of the older 2K loyalists. And we're talking about next gen!

Firstly, get rid of both always online and VC, you ****** m************ so our offline experience isn't ruined!

The one thing i'd like to see back, is an updated CAP! You know, something similar to last gen (yes an older game) MLB The Show.

I'm calling it now, Live will be better in two years...
