NBA 2K14 Euroleague Q&A

Q: You have a multi-year global partnership with 14 of the top teams from the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. What is the process in getting those teams signed and are there plans on signing the rest of the teams in the League?

A: We have a positive relationship with the Euroleague, and after seeing the widespread support for global basketball in London last summer, we worked to complete a mutual agreement to include some of the top teams in this year’s title. We then worked directly with Euroleague to capture the authenticity of each team, per our critical standards in the NBA 2K series. We’ll explore the possibility of adding more Euroleague teams in the future.

Q: Will each team have a complete authentic roster or will a few players not be included? If the rosters are incomplete, could they all be added before release?

A: There are 10 authentic players for each playable Euroleague team in NBA 2K14.

Q: Euroleague teams feature a different atmosphere during their games. Will the atmosphere be different from the NBA experience? Will we hear team chants, see flares, etc.?

A: The Euroleague atmosphere featured in NBA 2K14 will accurately capture fans’ enthusiasm and passion for global basketball.

Q: Will each Euroleague team have their own authentic Arena or will they be generic? Same question for player faces.

A: There will be one Euroleague arena that will include the home team’s branding on the court and proper Euroleague court dimensions.

Q: Are those the new generic shoes seen in the screenshots?

A: We’ll have more to share on shoes in the coming months for NBA 2K14.

Q: Is this simply a head-to-head matchup (offline/online) type of thing or will we see it implemented into other modes, like MyPlayer, MyCareer or Association? Maybe an unannounced feature tied into this coming down the line?

A: Right now, the integration of Euroleague in NBA 2K14 will be a head-to-head matchup for Exhibition and Online mode.

Q: With the addition of Euroleague, did any other teams have to be removed? We would hate to see Classic/Legend teams get removed. From what we understand, classic players were contracted from NBA 2K11 through NBA 2K13, has that been extended?

A: You’ll have to stick with us for future news around classic players, but we did not remove any teams as a direct effort to shoehorn Euroleague into NBA 2K14.

Q: Will we see the Euroleague teams on all consoles (current & next-gen) as well as on PC?

A: Yes.

Q: Will we see all of the Euroleague rules implemented? What about the 3 point line? Based off of the screenshots, it appears to be inaccurate.

A: The Euroleague court in game will reflect the proper and authentic Euroleague court dimensions in the final product.

Q: Do you have any information on D-League or Summer League?

A: Not at this time.

honestly I can care less about any other teams that are only for quick play . who cares really !! I want them to stop wasting disc space on worthless **** and make the game of basketball even more amazing then it is . nice touch with the euro league but if it isn't implemented into assoc. or my player no one should care . 2k12 had so many classic teams and no1 played with them . there were like 10 Jordan bulls teams and a ton of missing players. just improve the create system . add a create a team , create a logo , create a stadium and no1 would care about any of this . they'll just create it them selves , and prolly better then you might

U don't care about the classic teams, but I do. Dude there are only 11 relevant teams in the league right now.

my whole purpose to play a game is to do more then just play a quick game . 2k11 and 12 did a great job adding modes to compliment these teams purpose for being in the game . 2k13 only just gave them to you for the sake of you guys just wanting them . I do enjoy the classics being there . but after a few games played I get bored . this is only IMO . please let me know y u enjoy the teams just sitting there with no purpose ?

I doubt ill ever touch these teams especially since they are only head to head

ok I am just gonna be honest here about the inclusion of the 14 euroleague teams ...

it really does nothing for me other than build more concerns about what kind of product I should be expecting from VC when the game of basketball itself is broken , especially on defense..to know dev time is spent in a direction that has no direct impact on NBA basketball ...

now if it was the D league I would be excited to the fullest that would surely carry more weight/ influence in my player and association

I just think that for the euroleague do like FIFA does it and creat two IPs like how they have world cup edition of FIFA and FIFA itself make an NBA game and a eurolrague/Olympic game
I say if your gonna do something do it all the way or not at all

I just hope VC isn't spread too thin to have a solid impact on NBA basketball. even more so when live is schedule to return to market this year

either way I have faith in VC and am trying to remain optimistic about it all but will just have to wait for more details and impressions to surface

am happy for everybody involved that finds this info exciting am glad u have something to look forward to but I will just to wait for mine if so may be the case

The fact that its only for head to head games means I will probably check it out once or twice and thats it. Had Euroleague been incorporated into my player or association it would have my attention,

The reason why I enjoy the classics cause I like to incorporate some of the classic teams into association, so I can be able to mix them with Today's NBA teams and replace a lot of mediocre NBA teams with classic teams.

It's really a bummer that they didn't implement this into any other modes other than Exhibition and Online. My hopes aren't as up as they used to be.

No implementation into other modes? So I guess another year of 2k, another year of no attention to association. Do they realise it is the mode with the most replayability and potential?

# 30 deacon21206 @ 07/10/13 02:05 AM
LOL he said for right now. Not that they won't be, but at this stage they haven't been.

# 31 Guapo516 @ 07/10/13 03:45 AM
I woulda thought this had my player and association written all over it. I'm sure they aren't telling everything but if the euro teams are strictly exhibition use for online offline then it ain't really that big a feature to me.

This needs to be in my player and association either u can be selected to rep the country of your my player in the off season, or players on your your association team can be selected to represent there country and you can choose to play as those teams. Or may be you stink it up in the rookie showcase game and go undrafted and the euro league is your next option.

This feature sounds pretty weak to me

I'll take that as a 'NO' then.

So I assume that the you can have the option for playing Euro rules playing exhibition games? hmmm I wonder if they finally added an option for playing old school rules as well for exhibition games....

So...probably not.

Also, on old school rules being implemented for classic teams, I think they should have it in for current team as well, because people can camp for more than 3 seconds on offense, while defensive 3 seconds in the key is punished very strictly. Just another advantage to the offense, when it doesn't need anymore.

When this was first announced, I had hoped that I'd be able to make a MyCareer player that started out like a Brandon Jennings or make a comeback like a Jordan Farmar instead of artificially inserting that player into the draft.

After reading this Q&A, I realize I may never touch a Euroleague team. It is really a shame, because the potential to create something 1st class is obvious yet it seems they decided the gimmicky would be enough.

This to me is about as useful as the "Dream Team" vs Today's Olympic team, and it seems the same limited thinking that went into the Olympic experience has went into the Euro-league concept.

I was thinking that as well. I was really excited when the Dream Team was announced last year, but I wasn't really expecting to only be able to pit them against the current team on a fictional court without having the ability to edit anything (generic block shoes). There also was not much freedom to create our own foreign opponents for USA to face. It was basically locked in to something very controlled and limiting. As such, it turned out to be one of my biggest disappointments in 2K13 (alongside Dunk Contest and 3pt. Shootout controls and execution).

I guess the good news is at least these Euroleague teams will have proper opponents instead of having a single magical opponent from a different century.
