The Top Five Finishers to Apply in WWE '12

In a wrestling videogame, few things are more satisfying than applying your favorite superstar’s finisher to win a match.

Since I have the privilege of reviewing the game this year, I thought I would share with you the top 5 finishers I love to apply in WWE 12.

5. Wasteland – Wade Barrett

Now that The Barrett Barrage is in full swing on Smackdown, it's time to lay waste to some blokes. See what I did there? The Wasteland is a high impact move that has earned Barrett the fear and respect he so deserves.

4. The World’s Strongest Slam – Mark Henry

Not since the likes of Brock Lesnar has someone bulldozed his way through the WWE like Mark Henry. The World’s Strongest Slam has been his most devastating weapon. It has enshrined many superstars into The Hall of Pain including the likes of The Big Show, Kane and some poor unknown sound technician. After 15 years toiling in mediocrity, Henry and his World’s Strongest Slam are unbeatable.

3. The GTS – CM Punk

You’re getting sleepy, very sleepy -- OK, at least some unlucky opponent of CM Punk is dozing off. When you are “the best in the world,” you command respect. Nothing does that like the threat of a knee to the face. While simplistic, you have to admit it looks freaking cool. And it’s CM Punk. What more needs to be said.

2. The Skull Crushing Finale - The Miz

The brash young superstar from Cleveland has certainly made a name for himself in the ring and out. As one of the WWE’s most marketable superstars, Miz also has one of the most marketable finishing moves in The Skull Crushing Finale. If you like your face driven into the mat with no way to brace yourself, then you will love this maneuver. When The Miz delivers this jolting finisher - it's game over.

1. The Cross Arm Breaker – Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio Burst onto the scene by humiliating one of the WWE’s most beloved superstars, Rey Mysterio. Del Rio put the “little Chihuahua” out of commission with the brutal cross arm breaker. Once you are in, good luck getting out. This could be one of the most effective submission maneuvers in the business (I have always been a sucker for the submission), and has helped Del Rio already become a two time WWE Champion.

Honorable mentions:

The LaBell Lock – Daniel Bryan

This is a new and an old school submission maneuver. This can’t be good for your shoulder and face. That’s for sure.

Cross Rhodes – Cody Rhodes

An up and coming superstar, with a somewhat unique finisher. Cody Rhodes’ Cross Rhodes is a modified cutter DDT.

The Zig-Zag – Dolph Ziggler

The Zig-Zag is a lightning fast move that can be hit from virtually anywhere at any time during the match. I just wonder if he introduces himself before it’s delivered.

Well, there you have it. My top five finishers I love to apply in WWE 12, plus a few honorable mentions to boot.

What about you, OS? What are your top 5 finishers you like to apply in WWE 12?

The Rock Bottom, with wake up taunt, is easily my favorite.

I like the Killswitch myself, AKA Unprettier

for the life of me i cant work out how to do this new submission thing this year. Is their a certain technique or do you just mash buttons like a ******?

getting back to the finishers I still love the F5. I'm pretty much playing 90% of my games with Brock Lesnar

You just hit A/X repeatedly.

Punk does have the Pepsi Plunge, but I doubt anybody in WWE would take that bump.

Then there is the Anaconda Vise.

Plus how close it is to the Pedigree and I doubt Trips would allow that. As well as Punkster saying how bad it was on his knees.

I just don't like how he puts guys on his shoulder, you're thinking this devasting slam or something is coming (if you didn't already know the move) and then a knee finishes it off? It just looks really weak because most of the time the guy's legs are on the ground by the time he gets kneed so it doesn't even look like a move that should finish you. I just think for someone as big as CM Punk has become, his finisher should be cooler.
It's better then other big stars, The Rock just slams you down with one hand or drops an elbow on you. Hulk Hogan drops a leg on you. Cena lets you fall 6 feet to the mat. Austins stunner had people's legs hit the mat way before they got stunned, you think they could've stopped that. The point is, it's hard to get a finisher that looks deadly that's actually really safe because since it's their big guy, it has to be done every night essentially with no error.

Just wondering if you have WWE 12, have you seen a version of the Pepsi Twist in the game?

I don't want it to seem like i'm picking on just CM Punk, the reason i brought up his finisher was because it was mentioned in the article.

And no, bdolski i haven't bought the game yet, i'm gonna wait for a price drop but my brother has it and i've played it but not as CM Punk so i don't know if the Pepsi Twist is in the game.
The Rock Bottom was great because of Rock's athleticism, and the ability for his opponent and camera angles to sell the move. Austin's was great for many of the same reasons. And yeah, it's great that neither move requires a lot of risk, given their stature (at the time).

Agree that Cena's AA and Punk's GTS finishers are weak. I like their submission moves though. Cody Rhodes has a pretty good one.

i think no 1 is the lamest on the list... i think wrestlers from decades ago was already using that move... but it looked cool compare to hogan's... lol

The F-5 has been, and always will be my all time favorite.

# 13 TheVinylHippo @ 12/16/11 06:50 PM
On the CM Punk thing, I'd like to see him use the Koji Clutch as one of his finishers. I think Punk's had the GTS for so long that he might as well keep it.

As for WWE '12, my favorite finisher is the Skull-Crushing Finale.

# 14 RazorFang @ 12/17/11 05:10 PM
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't Jeff Jarrett have a finisher much like the Skull Crushing Finale?

# 15 st0rmb11 @ 12/18/11 12:01 AM
Wow, that list contains 4 of the worst (in my opinion). Wasteland is a pathetic excuse for a finisher. World's Strongest Slam is weak. Skull Crushing Finale is like many other finisher's I've seen. and The Cross Armbreaker is the same move that countless "technical" wrestlers have used for years.

Not that anyone asked, but this would be my 5 (in no particular order)

RKO (with the wake up taunt)

Killswitch (or as I still call it, Unprettier. why did he change the name of it?)

Kane's Chokeslam (with wake up taunt)

Pedigree

Sweet Chin Music

They have the same common purpose to slam someone on their face, but they are different. The Stroke was more of a reverse Russian Leg Sweep and the SCF is a full nelson facebuster/crusher.

Not to get too technical, but it didn't start as the Unprettier, either. When he was with the Brood, it was called the Impaler.
