No big deal to most, I'm sure, but I feel like I need to share what I consider to be a momentous accomplishment in my gaming history.

Today, I finished a season of a career mode in a game other than football for the first time since I began playing video games, well before such game modes even existed.

Now, I don't play every game. Were I to try that, I'd be even less successful in making it through the opening month of any season. I just don't have the time available ... Read More

This matchup dealt me the most BS results to date.

When I played as USC, I absolutely dominated BC for most of the game, but suddenly, Joe McKnight (I know he wasn't going to play for real) decided to fumble on three consecutive carries, each of which was returned for a touchdown, turning a sure-fire USC cakewalk into a 42-32 loss. I think Matt Barkley also had a fumble returned for some distance leading to an easy score and also threw a pair of picks, for which I'll take the blame. ... Read More

I was pretty excited to play as Pitt. Their freshman RB Dion Lewis is a certified stud. I think Bill Stull also puts up decent numbers, but I am fairly okay at the passing game, especially compared to my running skills. I get excited when I get to control a highly-skilled runner.

The result, of course, was less than compelling. Somehow I managed to score 30 points, but gave up 51 to North Carolina! I know Butch Davis has that team on the rise, but I don't get the impression they're ... Read More

Both virtual games were boring.

The actual game was boring.

The match-up even sounded boring.

As a MAC guy, I've seen Ohio. Frank Solich seems to be a very capable coach. I just don't think they're too fun to watch.

Marshall was a .500 team, I think. Who's excited about that?

I managed a victory as Ohio, winning 38-33, but fell when I played as Marshall, 27-24.

Like the real game, they were both close, but that somehow ... Read More

I was the loser on both sides in this contest, but I have to blame Corso a little bit. He really didn't give me much to work with, particularly with the SMU offense, which is far too prolific and interesting to run the garbage Lee always wants you to run. I probably need to just get better about maybe using a different play on the same page sometimes, or use some audibles a little more often.

SMU 38, Nevada 31
Nevada 34, SMU 26

SMU did not have the freshman QB who ... Read More

I like the new rosters.

I also like when I win one game and lose the other. It's not that I like losing, but it makes me feel like there is some balance to the game settings and that I'm neither good nor bad enough at the game to make the ratings and all that irrelevant.

So, you can take from the above that we had a distinct winner in the Poinsettia bowl and that winner is Cal.

And, that counts for little in the real world since Cal absolutely self-destructed ... Read More

Another victory for me in my Bowl Nerd season!

Of course, this elevates me only to 2-6, but still...

Yeah...

Another major misfortune of not doing a little work on the depth charts is that I played with Lyle Moevao as the Beaver starter at QB as opposed to Sean Canfield. Well, it wasn't misfortune for me, as I was able to use him and the Rodgers brothers to take BYU down by a 34-21 tally.

I really liked using the three players mentioned above, ... Read More
The funny thing in this pair of games was that I managed to score 21 points with each team against the opposing defense.

Unfortunately, I surrendered 31 to Middle Tennessee and 35 to Southern Mississippi.

While USM Damion Fletcher is a pretty decent back with which to run, the MTSU offense, on the whole, is a lot more fun to operate. Dwight Dasher is a very mobile QB and can cause a lot of damage. Also, I really like getting the ball to Desmond Gee and letting him run ... Read More
This pair of games was the first in which I actually managed to win one of the two match-ups, which led me to believe that the team with which I managed to win, Rutgers, must be a heck of a lot better than the one I beat, Central Florida.

I played first as UCF and lost 27-14. I did read a (very) little about this bowl before playing the game and learned that their offense relied fairly heavily on running back Brynn Harvey. Since 'Ask Corso' loves to run the same four or five running ... Read More

My first game of the series featured two teams I've not seen play all year and, hence, had no idea what to expect.

Actually, I take that back. I saw part of a Fresno game at some point and was very aware they had a killer running back by the name of Ryan Matthews.

Unfortunately for them and me, I'm awful at the run game and was mostly unable to exploit that when controlling the Bulldogs.

Wyoming 31, Fresno State 24 (OT)

Now, I have to say that ... Read More

I love football. I really, really love football, you know?

College football is a blast. I enjoy playing the game to the point where I don't really notice the blemishes on which so many people focus.

I use my DVR to record games and then click through them like game tape using the 30-second skip function, so I can squeeze in three to four games in the time it would normally take to watch one.

For whatever reason, however, I never really thought to marry my ... Read More

I honestly hate coming to these forums to read about the upcoming football games, only to see them overrun with a bunch of whining.

I shouldn't let it bother me, but it does.

My gut feeling is that kids are far too used to getting whatever they want from mommy and daddy that they think they're entitled to similar treatment from the rest of the world.

I mean, an Xbox 360 plus a fresh copy of a Madden game would cost even the best shopper a few hundred bucks. ... Read More

That just was getting too ridiculous. Three TDs surrendered in 25 seconds is maybe partially me sucking, but there's also simply something wrong there.

As much as I hate playing the game without sliders, I also hate the search for the right set.

I broke in the new machine by spending most of the day trying to get my datel transfer cable and xplorer to work so I could have names on the back of the jerseys.

It was quite the task, but ultimately, I succeeded.

Then, I did some research on sliders as I never really dig the games right out of the box. I came up with Playmakers' AA sliders from that season. I usually play on Varsity due to my general lack of skill, but since those seemed to be pretty good, I figured ... Read More

I haven't played too much video games in a few weeks as my house got burgled and the 360 got snatched with the television and a handful of games.

The replacement sits in the living room, where it's been now for a few days just waiting to be connected and fired up.

The wife is out working on a project, leaving me home alone for my first potential gaming in a little while.

I can't believe I didn't just start playing a few hours ago when she left. Oh, how I've ... Read More
