Madden Game Four: At home against the 0-4 Bears

I'm sure the Bears lack of wins is due to the QB situation which, at the opening of the season, seemed like it could doom the Bears.

I've decided to move Kevin Smith to the starter role.

Early on, that seems like a good move. On his first carry, he manages a seven-yard gain. Madden seems unmoved, however, and decides to go back to the PA pass game. With Jon Kitna (and me) at the helm, that results in little more.

So, after my concern over not changing my scouted players after week one, it seems that it's a moot point as the information I had on those players didn't seem to change whatsoever.

Hence, I am led to believe that the scouting function on Madden does little to nothing, which should be embarrassing for them. Even if it does do something, for it to not be obvious that you're gaining something by assigning a scout to a player is really, really poor form.

It might be notable that in addition to playing on "My Skill," I also let Madden call all my plays. Either that seems fair or I'm mostly just lazy.

Wisely, I also recalled that I was somewhat stupid.

As I should always remember to declare up front, I'm not too skilled on the sticks and don't bother to do a lot of practice. I just like to play the game.

Over the last two years, I've gotten a bit too much into reading about how Madden fails, rather than just jumping in and playing. As of today, I just figure I'll play, flaws disregarded, and see how the game plays out against the reality of the season.
