I don't know why quite yet, but with auto flip on, the CPU is much more deliberately hitting holes committing to one cuts. With it off, I've seen more instances of the cpu hitting a wide lame and then for no sensible reason cut hard into a defender. Quite literally tackling himself...That, and holding L1, at any point. This I feel is OP snorting steroid hotrails off of OPs balls. Try it, pick the MLB and hold L1, amd watch everyone laser to the ball and insta shed. Don't touch it and routinely get scorched when you should.

Hey Tony:Yeah, I have auto flip on, but that's also user preference, along with XP sliders.
Game is pretty stable, so I don't THINK variances with those options will skew the core result.

Haha, never realized.It’s a shame, seriously. Gameplay is really really good, but those gameplans man.
HB1TD has some books for defense online, they look promising but now that I know it affects wheater I’m worrying if it also has negative impact on gameplay. With EA you never know.

When you use two profiles / two controllers / custom books, the weather is the same every game. Sunny / Clear / etc.
No rain / snow / etc.
Been that way for as long as can recall.

I'm back to using the team default books since the latest patch . Defaults are still less than ideal, but the run v pass splits are solid and you don't shut off weather by using two controllers.
I just wish the D Books didn't dial up so many more blitzes than you see on Sunday.
If sabo had PS4 books up, I'd be using them, but that's not the case this year.

I feel zone blitzes are a sound call on 3rd and long as long as your corners are solid. That wasn't and issue when you made it but, something to think about now. Good post though.

That's a good perspective. I decided to just play MyClub on PES Lite for now but the sale is still going so I might pick up full PES. Playing 1 season with a different team like you do is probably what I'll do for ML. It just annoys me when retired players return through the youth squad so it kills all immersion for me when you plat multiple seasons.

I bought FIFA 18 during the sale due to temptation too, and I am very far from impressed. PES the past couple years has been fantastic (Unless ML is important to you, in that case you indeed made the right choice in not purchasing) but as good as the gameplay is, it isn't very deep or polished in any other aspect and therefore gets stale after a while. I hadn't played FIFA in a long while so I was kinda interested to see how it was. FIFA is still the polar opposite of PES in my opinion; a good amount of modes to choose from, a better career mode and all around more polished, but the gameplay is very stale and boring. played 12 matches and they all felt exactly the same and uneventful, most ending 0-0 or 1-0 with barely any shots. Even with it being (slightly) graphically superior to PES, it looked much less realistic and was much less fun. I'll play around with it a little more, but at this point I am probably going back to PES 18 soon, and I wish I would've saved my $25. PES is definitely worth it in my opinion at $20, even if you are put off by the underwhelming ML. I bought it at $45 on my PC and $25 on PS4 and am happy with both purchases. I usually just have fun playing one-off league seasons and seeing how good I can do with each team, so ML being somewhat poor doesn't phase me. Can't really go wrong with PES at $20 in my opinion.

I don’t disagree with that point @Chiefaho, but I still do think the negativity has tilted to the way overboard territory and has diminished the community as a whole the last few years. It has made’s it’s way into the 2K and Show forum two fold. That is disappointing. Far more than how Madden or NHL plays IMO.

I believe the falling off with this website has a lot to do with the falling off of sports gaming as a whole. As you said, Visual Concepts and Sony San Diego deserve praise for their games, and I would personally add Konami to that list with the past couple PES iterations being very fun. I agree that some people on here go a little overboard with expectations even with the well made sports games like The Show. However, I believe EA deserve every bit of criticism that is thrown at them. EA are obviously the biggest sports gaming developer/publisher, and they have been putting out completely uninspired products for a long while now, solely milking ultimate team modes for as long as possible without any innovation. You can tell that the high-ups at EA don't have any real passion for the sports that they emulate, they only care about the $$$. Sadly, EA basically own American Football, Ice Hockey, and for the most part Soccer and as such have effectively killed off the community of gamers who love those sports. I know many people who have completely stopped playing Madden, NHL and FIFA because they can't take the neglection shown to these games. On the upside, I also know plenty of people who don't even like baseball, yet play The Show because of how well kept and innovative a product it is. I myself have barely any interest in the sport, yet have been playing The Show since 2016 because of how fun the game is. If some new developers who have an actual passion for these sports could start working on some new games and give EA some much needed competition, I think this website would come back to life in a big way.

Hey King! Hope all is well. What are your thoughts on xp sliders affecting gameplay? There was some interesting dialogue around this topic in Josh’s slider thread. I’ve been using your sliders with 15 acc clock vs 20 and default xp sliders. I may plug in tdawgs xp sliders and see if I notice gameplay changes but wanted to get your expert thoughts first. Good stuff, bakersville...I just updated the set to this change: Facemask at 45 / 50 based on my experience and confirmation by Trojan Man...
However, good tips on Game Speed and Thresh, those are a couple things I planned to look at next...

Wow. I am gettig some great gameplay. I felt like something was off with the speed animation fluidity after the latest patch so I tried slow gamespeed in main menu, franchise setup, and cfm and really like how its playing. Couple other minor tweaks.
Gamespeed: Slow MM/cfm setup/cfm
Penalties: Same as Kings OP Except facemask left st 50. (Important to turn off off pass int as King suggests)
Speed threshold: 45 MM/cfm After several games of seeing to many rbs go the distance outrunning secondaries (which should rarely happen) I made this change and love it. It gives just enough spread in speed to make the difference between a lb and wr, and rb and cb, noticable. Another nice perk to a 45 speed threshold is it makes qbs more effective at getting outside of the pocket by making them pull away from some of the dl pursuit, reducing sacks and leading to more excitement when a qb breaks contain.
Then use Sabo custom playbooks for offense and generics for defense.
Some very tight, hard fought games. The cpu running game has been tough to slow down, pass completion % have been very good too. Only thing I may toy around with is JoshCs gameplan suggestion, to further boost the cpu offense in the red zone. All credit to King.

It's worked for me for years, so I'm betting that it's still viable...
Rjrosco posted that it's working for him, so that's extra incentive...
Let me know if you decide to give it a shot in the meantime, etc...

I'm seeing really great results King. Some of the best Madden I've played... Bravo.Good to hear about the added bite of All Madden. Maybe I'll use that come playoff time. Have you tried All Madden? They supposedly made quite a few tweaks, but I haven't tested it myself. It's not out of reason to believe thaf whatever they did to All Madden would effect the split setup as well.

I'm in Season Two with CHI and the Bills' Tyrod Taylor ran 8 times for 74 yards and scrambled himself into numerous positive plays...
McCoy went 18 for 144.
In this game, the CPU had plenty of bite...
However, you're right on the $$$...
If you or anyone else wants a little more challenge out of the posted set, simply setting the MM and / or Opening Sequence to AM, will ramp things up even further...
The game played great (IMHO) up to and including patch 1.04, took a dump for 1.05 / 1.06 and now appears to be back to "1.04 Plus" status...

Hey King, man this edition has been frustrating as but after 1.07 Iam finally seems seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.The patch seemed to make the ap setting a little easier imo, however this is only after two games.
I then tried the split level sim expert, am main menu, am start up cfm, then ap inside cfm and have really liked the results personally. All sliders default, I will have to try your penalty sliders to see how they effect the game, especially opi.
Think I will be signing out as well after 1.07 finally getting some good results and can finally get a cfm going.
Always a keen observer of your sliders, appreciate mate.

I'm going to get to take a look tomorrow...
They did this last year...
Opened the game up to no defense / arcade style for their tournament and then restored / improved it afterward, for us sim versus CPU guys...
Let me know what you think, but it looks like we are back in business!

Thanks for weighing in bakersville!Yup, the two patches after 1.04 blew this up, so I'm HOPING this supposed "Sim / Thanksgiving Patch" returns things to some degree of functionality for this set...
In the meantime?
1) I've never had much luck with edits, but that's not to say it won''t work...khaliib (who's the "go to guy" on such things) actually recommends lowering THP for the USER...
His assertion is that the reduced velocity results in more variety / less accuracy...
Once again: not much personal experience on that from my end, but there ya go!
2) You're right on the $$$ re: QBA slider...on AP it just makes them dumb, along with the OL...
3) Out of the Box suggestion: you can also try changing the level to All Madden in the Main Menu...
In the past, the "split levels" have brought about some really satisfying results...

I'm going to have to wait for this patch and see if this thing is salvageable...
If not, StefJoeHalt had a really solid All Madden set in the Slider Forum for Coach Mode, that also plays great in HUM v CPU context...
