NFL 2K5 Obliterates Madden 13...and all others
Posted on September 2, 2012 at 08:36 PM.
I'll keep this short and sweet. After spending an extensive amount of time with Madden13 and having played all others, including my favorite Maddens 2005/06, I have come to the conclusion that Madden just doesn't hold a candle to NFL 2K5.

2K5 has now been given the title in my book as the best NFL simulation game of all-time. The level of detail in this game is STILL incredible! The Franchise mode is FAR and away better the Connected Careers (which is a great idea in theory but lacking in execution, presentation is better than any sports game out today, the "physics" of NFL 2K5 OBLITERATE Madden 13's Infinity Engine, which contrary to it's ad campaign, does provide plays that look and feel the same quite often.

The amount of user control on the field is amazing and the spot on commentary is just even more to celebrate.

Each team plays DIFFERENTLY...each QB feels different...each running back....well you get the point...

I could go into explicit detail about each mode or gameplay elements that are still surprising or how much more enjoyable the franchise mode is in 2K5...or how VIP is still something EA has had an answer for....

It is clear that EA Sports is aiming to get gamers wallets rather than your hearts....

2K5...will own your soul...bottom line. I've written numerous blogs on it...I loved Madden when it was great....but Madden does not stand up to a game 8years old...nor is it as deep....nor is it as refreshing...only the graphics in Madden are better.....

2K5 FOREVER.

The best to EA Sports and their repeated 3 year plans and their loyal fans....even the blind ones.

Loving the different opinions...but there is a reason 2K5 (or AP2K8) is used as the measuring stick. Gameplay is the difference maker.

Apart from the overpowered run blocking at times. I found APF 2k8 to be a better, more fluid game. A big improvement over 2k5 was the line play. Nothing comes close to how the trenches played out in APF 2k8. To see William Perry get a good first step and collapse the pocket by driving the centre 4-5 yards backwards (whilst still engaged in one continuous animation) then sacking the qb was a thing of beauty.

I'll disagree about m13 physics, I actually think this years game plays well but it damn sure took em long enough to step up in the gameplay department.
I miss the 2k series, but I would of been extremely happy with M13 if they kept the old franchise and not this CCM rubbish.

Physics - M13
Line play - APF 2k8
Foot planting/locomotion - 2K5 & 2K8
Franchise - 2K5
Presentation - 2K5 EASILY
commentary - 2K5

2k5 - The best ever in terms of gameplay, presentation, immersion. Period.

All Pro 2k8 - Second best, too bad there were no franchise mode or regular fantasy draft - their method of selecting greats was too restrictive

Madden 13 - Amazingly sloppy, buggy, legacy issues, poor presentation, etc. BUT with the "Madden" name, its exclusive partnership with the NFL, the current teams, rosters, stadiums and the smell of a new NFL season in the air, it moves units.
