NBA 2K15 Gameplay Director Mike Wang took to the Operation Sports forums this month to answer questions about this year's game.
Because that forum thread now contains hundreds of posts, I extracted the most interesting and important questions and answers for this piece.
I broke it down based on topics, including dribbling, player movement, game controls, and more.
Thanks to Mike for taking the time, jersez for starting the conversation, and all the Operation Sports Forums users who participated in the discussion.

“How exactly does someone review a game like NBA 2K15?”
I spent almost a week wrestling with this question. I’m still not sure I know the answer, but I’m going to do my best to find it along the way.
NBA 2K15 plays the best basketball on the court of any video game I ever played.
This fact stands in a stark contrast to the experience of actually trying to play a game in many of the modes.
That part ranges from unplayable to — well, playable, but with a decent chance the game will freeze or drop or won’t count and you’ll have to replay it.
Let’s get into the meat of the review, or as I’ve been calling it in my head, “Treatise on Cognitive Dissonance on the Hardwood.”

I want to state right off the bat I received the game today like most of you. The impressions that follow come from playing a half-dozen quick games, so stay tuned for the full review later this week for more details on game modes and features, as well as more comprehensive gameplay discussion. For now, I'm going to focus on initial gameplay impressions.

How well does FIFA 15 represent real players and clubs?
I wanted to try to answer this question. After all, I’m a realism nerd in my sports games. I always have been. “Do AI clubs and players in FIFA 15 play like reasonable approximations of their real-life selves?”
Let's find out.

Let’s face it. We’ve all had a real lack of college basketball video games to play the last few years.
It’s been six years since 2K Sports released College Hoops; Four years have gone by since EA Sports’ last effort.
Well, Draft Day Sports: College Basketball 2 gives us a choice, and fortunately for us, it’s a very good one. Wolverine Studios released DDS:CB2 in late 2011, and I finally got the chance to check it out recently

The gaming landscape has changed greatly in the four years since NBA Live and NBA 2K last faced off in competition.
NBA Live went on vacation; NBA 2K grew into a juggernaut.
If EA Sports tries to recapture the basketball gaming market out of the gate, it will be like Jose Calderon trying to guard Kobe. To return to relevance, the Live team needs to rebuild brick by brick.
By focusing on delighting one segment of the community at a time, they can win over different groups of gamers and convert them into loyal customers. To optimize this process, EA can focus on gamers who feel that 2K falls short of satisfying their main desires.
Thankfully, EA picked the perfect way to start.
