Last week, while the Los Angeles Lakers were next door at Staples Center adding another chapter to their illustrious dynasty, the longest-running NBA video game franchise was in the early stages of adding a new chapter of its own. At E3, NBA Elite 11 was introduced in a private booth, and we were there for a hands-on experience.

With Gameflow and Locomotion being the two main features for Madden NFL 11, it’s safe to say gameplay truly is the name of the game for this year’s pro-football title. Gameflow, as promised, does speed up the pace of the game allowing you to concentrate on execution rather than having to call plays. However, we noticed a potential issue with the feature for the defensive team. When using Gameflow, the offensive information isn't displayed on the screen therefore leaving the defense guessing when manually choosing plays. Hopefully that’s an issue that can be fixed in the final build.

As for player movement, the running game is much more intuitive with locomotion. The removal of the turbo button places more emphasis on your stick skills and as a result makes running much more rewarding. Catching animations and general wide receiver play are sure to please most Madden fans. In tight spots, receivers now intelligently react to the incoming pass. Gone are the days where only the defensive back makes a play on the ball or the receiver runs out of bounds on a catch without at least trying to keep his feet in play. Sadly, quarterback sliding is still very visible and the running animations, although fine-tuned, aren’t what they should be. Overall, a rewarding running system should make for a much more balanced football experience in Madden NFL 11.

Lastly, presentation this year has more in-game cut scenes, including players’ game day arrivals at the arena and new in-game replays. Ray Lewis' exuberant pre-game dance routine is also featured in the game. To my surprise Madden NFL 11 doesn’t have the “Lock on” camera that’s present in NCAA Football 11 for CPU games or head-to-head matchups. Player specific cameras are only available for Online Team Play. We will have more on OTP and more Madden NFL 11 in the coming days from E3.

"In a closed-door session, we got our first look at NBA2K11 earlier today at E3. Walking Chase Becotte and myself through the very brief demo was NBA2K11 producer, Eric Boenisch. The major announcement is the removal of Isomotion controls. Although a staple in the series and a well-received feature, the NBA2K11 team felt Isomotion was too limited. However, there’s no word just yet on what new dribbling scheme will take its place in NBA2K11."

In the words of Hall of Fame player and Knicks color analyst, Walt Frazier, "perpetual motion" is a staple in an NBA game -- a game where anything from quick cuts in the half court to players running the floor on the break are just part of what is expected.

And since players also spend a ton of their time on the road during the 82-game grind known as the regular season, constant movement is also a regularity in an NBA player's life. However, there is still a good amount of players in the league who find the time to work on their game -- their NBA 2K10 game.

This season, 2K Sports initiated the NBA 2K ambassador program that supplied more than a handful of players with a personalized NBA 2K10 case that is compact, road ready and just flat out amazing. Lucky guys, no? Here is an official list of the NBA 2K10 ambassadors.

On June 26, 2003, the basketball world ushered in what many believe was the best draft class the NBA has ever seen. Seven years later, three of the top players from the '03 draft class -- LeBron, Wade and Bosh -- have us anticipating another big summer that could change the outlook of the Association.

So through the glasses of the main teams that are looking to make a killing in the free-agency market this summer, let us take a look at how the 2010 NBA free-agent market could change NBA 2K11.

The stars will be out this weekend in Dallas for the 2010 NBA All-Star game. The lights will be bright as LeBron, Kobe and other stars take the court on the biggest basketball stage ever. But for the NBA 2K series, there is always a group of players each year who always seem to put up star numbers despite relatively low ratings. These players are a handful to deal with when playing against the CPU, and you absolutely hate to matchup against them online. So allow me to introduce you to this year’s crop of NBA 2K10 All-Stars.

The MLB 2K franchise is celebrating its 10th birthday this year, and the folks at 2K Sports could not have picked a better cover athlete to celebrate the milestone. Donning an All-Star game and a celebrity name, 2K Sports hit a home run by naming Evan Longoria the face of MLB 2K10. Tabbed for the job just days after winning a Gold Glove award at third base, the good news for Evan seems to be coming faster than a mid-90s fastball -- luckily for us, he’s dealt with a few of those in his career.

Evan took time out of his busy schedule to chat with Operation Sports about contributing to MLB 2K10, his game-day routine and even some music.

It has been an exciting 10 years for the NBA 2K series and basketball gamers alike. After the first installment in 1999, NBA 2K soon became a staple in the hoops genre. The series has provided an enjoyable playing experience for casual gamers while presenting a good enough challenge for those with insane stick skills. The franchise has also been known for dishing out a realistic NBA experience that allows basketball junkies like myself to live out their hoop dreams through our gaming consoles.

With perennial All-Star Kobe Bryant starring as the game's front man, NBA 2K10 aims to accomplish the same goal as its cover athlete: defend its championship crown. But like all things from which greatness is expected, the level of expectations are high. A decade since its introduction, can NBA 2K10 still rise up to the challenge?

I played Virtua Tennis for the first time nine years ago, and I ended up falling in love with it. I would play it in various arcade rooms, spending all the change I had to serve or keep getting served. My addiction only grew when the first console version was released on the Dreamcast. Now, almost a decade later, does Virtua Tennis 2009 still deliver an ace, or is the game marred by unforced errors?

The answer lies somewhere in the middle, but Federer, Nadal or Roddick level this game is not.

With the NBA regular season coming to a close, there has been a ton of hoopla surrounding the MVP award. But, while the winner of the most coveted individual regular season award is a tough call, it is the postseason that has me even more puzzled. With that in mind, I called upon NBA 2K9 to help me figure this mess out. So please indulge me.

I set up the playoffs as a tournament, selecting the teams most likely to make the postseason and seeded them accordingly. So yes, Cleveland has the best record followed closely by the Lakers, while the Bulls and the Mavericks both grabbed the number eight spots in their respective conferences (seems like the Bulls could wind up even higher than that now).

In recent years, one of NBA 2K’s most prized assets has been its interface for online leagues. Although not as popular as the ranked games, true NBA 2K gamers love to play in online leagues. The league I manage, Sim City Leagues, has enabled me to really reap the benefits of the online leagues over the past two years. The league is currently in its 10th season, with each and every campaign being played out as it should be.

However, despite the success of a few leagues, finding a good online league in NBA 2K can be quite a struggle. We have all joined those public leagues that have never even started, let alone been completed. Other gamers have probably been added as "replacements" to leagues, only to get in and have no games to play. And some have even ventured to various forums and started those "looking for a sim league" threads, only to have them bumped all the way down to the second page within minutes.

It is difficult to get in a good online league because there are not many good ones to join. Nevertheless, if there were more dedicated leagues out there, gamers could waste less time tirelessly looking for them. So with that in mind, the following is a guide on how to start up and maintain a good online league.

From clunky cartridges to compact discs, wired controllers to Bluetooth sticks, Goldeneye battles at your mate’s house to online Call of Duty wars -- through the years I have welcomed all sorts of changes in my gaming life. But the one thing that remained constant was Pro Evolution Soccer. It was always my preferred choice when the new footy season came around -- that is until last year of course.

Konami’s winning formula has been tested and surpassed not only by time, but also by the rapid rise of competitor EA Sports’ FIFA series. With a stellar showing this year, FIFA 09 once again raised the bar for soccer games. Can Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 win back the title, or at the very least stay in the top division?
