The NBA 2K series' longstanding issues with floor spacing and player movement have become more exposed by this year's 10-player Pro-Am mode. In this mode, your 99-rated, 40-badge MyPlayers can sprint across the court quickly enough to double team a big man on the block, then swerve back out to the three-point line just in time to contest a kick-out jump shot.

Traditional power forwards like Carlos Boozer, who love to patrol the mid-range area and post up outside the paint, haven't gone completely extinct, but they're becoming increasingly rare in today's NBA as executives continue to draft and sign power forwards who can stretch out defenses with the threat of their 3-point shot.

However, big men like Boozer, whose shooting is only reliable from mid-range and close-range, can still be effective offensive weapons in NBA 2K16, so long as you match them with an appropriate playbook and freelance offense.

Which players would you expect to have the highest-rated cards in MyTeam three months into NBA 2K16's lifespan?

Michael Jordan? Magic Johnson? Larry Bird? Oscar Robertson?

Wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong.

Try J.R. Smith, Jamal Crawford, Luis Scola and Ty Lawson.

These are just a few of the ridiculously rated diamond cards (the tier assigned to players with a 95 or higher overall rating) who can currently be used in MyTeam's Gauntlet mode, and will eventually be included in throwback packs, like Crawford was last Thursday.

Mario Tennis
has been a staple of Nintendo's Sports Gaming lineup for years now, with each iteration being an almost guaranteed hit with quality gameplay and modes. However, Nintendo moved this year's Mario Tennis release up a few months, and it sadly shows with a game that wasn't quite ready for prime time.

Ones And Twos Is An Imbalanced Scoring System

After two years of ignoring one of MyPark's biggest issues, NBA 2K16 finally smartened up and changed the Park's scoring system to a normal NBA style of two pointers and three pointers. For some reason, though, The Gauntlet remains stuck with the old, unbalanced scoring setup.

Scoring baskets by ones and twos rewards reckless outside shooters who chuck up contested bombs all game long while penalizing players who are efficient scorers from mid/close range.

The Gauntlet needs to adopt the standard scoring system to decrease the value of outside shooting and make dominant post players/mid-range specialists worth having on your team. Right now, superstar perimeter players like Grant Hill and Michael Jordan, whose only weakness is poor three-point shooting, are less desirable cards than one-trick ponies like Steve Novak or Hedo Turkoglu.

"Black Friday" circular ads are already surfacing on the Internet, so if you're planning on purchasing NBA 2K16 during the Holiday shopping season, and you're looking forward to taking your created character into multiplayer matches, know that whatever you spend for your copy of the game, it won't be enough to compete online -- at least, not right away.

NBA 2K16's Pro-Am and MyPark modes are built on competitively unbalanced and psychologically manipulative grind-to-win/pay-to-win models -- the kinds you'd expect to find in a free-to-play mobile app, not on a $60 Blu-ray disc. If you want to keep up with the majority of Pro-Am/Park players, who are presently rated in the mid-80s to high-90s, your avatar must choose between slowly earning or outright purchasing six figures of in-game currency just to raise your player's overall rating from a completely inept 55 up to at least the low-80s.

When Damjan Rudež rose off the bench and eagerly began his four-and-a-half-minute shift during the Minnesota Timberwolves season opener, I knew exactly why head coach Sam Mitchell had sent him in: to shoot the rock. The 6-foot-10 reserve forward from Croatia -- who was a "DNP Coach's Decision" in the second game this year -- probably checked in and out of the LA Staples Center without being noticed by most television viewers and audience members. But if you've taken NBA 2K16's MyTeam mode online, you probably recognized Rudež's name and face immediately because his 85-rated standing shot -- plus hot spots in the corners and at the top of the key -- make him one of the best perimeter threats in the "bronze" tier, which is limited to athletes rated below a 70 overall.

After last year's game inexplicably omitted the ability to simulate to your next shift, NHL 16 at least brought that feature back from last gen's Be A Pro mode. But EA Canada still has not improved the series' annoyingly long loading times between shifts. You can expect to waste 10 seconds staring at a black screen every time you step off the ice, which adds up to about 3.5 minutes of in-match loading per game if your coach is giving you 20 shifts a night. I don't understand how a game like NBA 2K16 can get my character out of his seat and onto the court in only a second or two, while EA Canada's hockey title continues to trip over the same technical hurdle.

Overhaul The AI

In a year where FIFA 16 and NBA 2K16 both made tremendous improvements to their on-field/on-court AI, it's sad to see NHL 16's CPU skaters still aimlessly wandering at times.

AI teams still struggle to gain possession inside the offensive zone, mostly due to poor decision making coming through the neutral zone. On many shifts, they will either hesitate and zig-zag around the red line before launching a futile dump attempt, or they'll skate the puck in a straight line down the side boards where you can easily crush their oncoming forward with a check.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 looks, runs, and plays like a pre-alpha build of a game that might have been ready to release sometime in the spring or summer of 2016. Its framerate is choppier than most extreme sports titles on the PlayStation 2. Its 20-person multiplayer sessions contain more ghosting and warping than an original Pac-Man cabinet. The entire package is missing many essential options and features from the first six Tony Hawk games that rightfully belong in any modern revival.

Even if future patches miraculously resolve THPS 5's numerous mechanical and technical malfunctions, the game still won't be worth buying, due to unpatchable problems like blasé skate parks, unbalanced level designs, repetitive single-player missions, an inefficient matchmaking system, and a lack of compelling multiplayer modes.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 would be a disgraceful piece of software to ship on the PlayStation 4's launch day, much less coming 22 months into the system's life. I did not think I'd ever play a game on this console that was worse than NBA Live 14, but Activision and developer Robomodo have somehow managed to score lower than EA Tiburon's own disastrous comeback attempt.

Baseball fans, don't be sour. Look above, and feel the power! It's a new day on PlayStation 4, yes it is! For the first time in the platform's short history, Konami is bringing one of their two Nippon Professional Baseball games to PS4. Power Pros 2016 is targeting a Spring 2016 release in Japan on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, and that's all we really know about the game right now, based on an official press release that contains one teaser screenshot.

A new version of Pro Yakyuu Spirits is also being made for iOS and Android, and that product is far enough along in development that Konami has posted a pretty detailed trailer to their Japanese YouTube channel:

Pro Yakyuu Spirits Ace should be available on phones and tablets sometime in 2015, according to the above video. Konami's also uploaded lots of in-game screenshots and a few paragraphs describing Ace's game modes on its Japanese webpage.

Visual Concepts Community Managers Ronnie Singh and Chris Manning just finished streaming some head-to-head gameplay of NBA 2K16 on the company's official Twitch channel. Their match between the Los Angeles Lakers and Toronto Raptors was played on Superstar difficulty and default Simulation sliders.

If you didn't get to see the event live, click here to start watching the archive. The actual broadcast starts at timestamp 5:46. If you don't want to spend an hour-and-a-half watching the whole show, here is all of the new information that was announced:

Notes
  • NBA 2K16's Play Now leaderboards will reward users who don't always pick the most talented teams. Previously, the leaderboards were mostly just determined by total wins and total losses.

  • NBA 2K16's online servers will be turned on "late tomorrow."

  • The "Momentous" trailer will be officially released tomorrow afternoon.
My Career
  • All existing NBA 2K16 My Career save files will be deleted from the 2K servers sometime tomorrow.

  • My Career will once again have unlockable endorsements from actual companies like Kia and Gatorade.
Gameplay
  • You can now select which side of the on-ball defender's body your screener will come to.

  • The ball handler will have access to four signature dribbles by holding down the R2 button.

  • Prerecorded player interviews will occasionally be shown during stoppages in play.

  • There are new shooting follow-through animations that give you natural visual feedback on whether or not you're taking good/bad shots, which is helpful if you like to have the shot meter disabled.

  • The new defensive meter will light up whenever you are in a good position to contest a shot.

  • Manual instant replays now have several new options that are designed to help NBA 2K's video editing community.
