It was a good year for The Show as it continues to be the best console baseball game on the market. And as you’re likely aware, it’s really the only console simulation baseball game on the market. So let’s discuss the most popular modes and what they offered us in 2016, with some hopes for 2017 as well.

Mike is back with episode two of the Expansion MyGM vBlog -- this episode talks about how franchise modes can better utilize graphic design and present news in franchises even better.
Beyond that we get a look at the Grackles roster as it comes together in the expansion draft and we debate a few decisions on the roster as they come up in our first stages of our expansion franchise. Also, we dive into the expansion/relocation and team design engines.
There's a lot of good discussion in this one, give it a watch and add your own thoughts on how games could improve graphic design and present in-game news better!

Earlier this year in an Operation Sports feature titled, “Fact or Fiction: 2016 Sports Gaming Predictions,” I said “NHL 17 will be a sports game of the year candidate in a big way.” With Madden, The Show and NBA 2K showing relatively standard -- yet still very good -- improvements this year, NHL 17 arguably has made the most progress of any of the major sport titles for consoles; it’s a much improved and complete game this year compared to its predecessor.
One of the game’s deepest enhancements has been the expansion of available gameplay sliders. There are far more sliders available in this year’s edition compared to '16, and perusing the slider sub-forum on Operation Sports, I was curious as to how folks were handling this year’s new edition (bad pun) when it comes to adjusting gameplay.

Madden 17 is easily the best Madden ever made, and the numerous threads and stories already floating around Operation Sports -- mine included -- have been praising the game even before its official release. So how can Madden 18 be an even better experience next year? First and foremost, I think it starts with Connected Franchise mode.
So here's my top five things I'd like to see in Madden 18's Connected Franchise mode.

During the NBA 2K17 community event, the one item that was to remain under a strict embargo was any discussion about the new MyCareer mode.
After last year's Frequency Vibrations MyCareer story presented by Spike Lee, the NBA 2K team was focused on ways to improve the game's most played mode, and Jeff Thomas, VP for Visual Concepts, was ready to share all that is new this year in MyCareer.
As you likely know by now, on September 9 The Prelude will be available as a free download. Players can begin their MyCareer 11 days before the full release of NBA 2K17, and you'll be able to play a significant amount of MyCareer leading up to when you'll declare for the NBA Draft and start your NBA career.

I had the chance to visit the studios at 2K this week and get an advance sneak peak of NBA 2K17. For full disclosure the trip was paid for entirely by the folks at 2K.
The first thing I want to tell you about NBA 2K17? It has nothing to do with the game itself directly, and everything to do with the people who work on this game year-round.
The wonderful folks at 2K Games, and specifically the team members I met in San Francisco on Tuesday afternoon -- Ronnie, Jeff Thompson, Erick Boenisch, Mike Wang, Ryan Peters, Chris, Czar, and many others -- are folks who are incredibly passsionate about their craft and the game they are producing. They were very welcoming and displayed a lot of that passion while describing what NBA 2K17 is bringing to consoles this year.
While I plan to dive a lot deeper into the topics I'll share below in the coming days, I wanted to at least get some of the nitty gritty out for folks to see and to begin discussing...
