Well, with NBA Elite 11, EA Sports decided to scratch what they did the previous year with NBA Live 10 and go in a totally new direction. To do that, it meant building a whole new engine from scratch. Once release time came for NBA Elite 11, the many bugs and problems with the new game engine was posted all over the internet. Then when you compare that to what NBA 2K11 was offering, there was no way that Elite 11 was going to compete. As a result, they cancelled Elite 11, will not release a basketball game this year either, and are hoping to get back into the market for next year.
