First, a reminder that the Week 18 1993 Cowboys/Giants game will be on NFL-N tomorrow night. This game is best known for Emitt Smith playing with a separated shoulder. It's one of the few "Triplets era" Cowboys games that I truly enjoy watching as i've seen it before.

secondly, this is for people that keep saying the Raptors and the Toronto market isn't very good blah blah blah. Forbes recently did their annual NBA franchise valuations and the Raptors are ranked 11th with a value ... Read More

Seems like every team out there are making moves to improve their teams while JP Ricciardi and the Jays are staying put. I've heard Rafael Furcal is on their radar but I doubt it happens. Now i'm hearing Texiera may go to the O's or even the BoSox! The Yankees have made ANOTHER offer to Burnett. It really looks like it's going to be a very long year for the Jays. "sigh"

Hopefully JP can do something he hasn't done before and actually get valuable bargains in free agency or this team ... Read More

OK I know I love Marvin Gaye music too much but this one is worth posting because it was so very rare. Marvin only did a handful of Christmas songs in his career and this one is probably the best of the bunch.

So the first regular season to be played in Canada happened yesterday. I thought it came off well. The fans weren't very loud but they weren't completely dead either. The one thing that disappointed me the most (other then the Bills choking down the stretch) is that the roof wasn't open. That's one thing that needs to be addressed for the future Bills in Toronto games.

As for the future of the Bills in Toronto, well let's put it this way, Rogers Communications vastly over estimated ... Read More

- Interesting MSNBC/WaPo article here about Bush reflecting on his tenure as president. It's a pretty good read but it also highlights the stubbornness of Bush and his refusal to truly acknowledge the many mistakes and blunders of his presidency.

- Am I alone in thinking these two could be related?

The Mumbai terrorist attacks proved once again that CNN is still the most trusted name in news in a lot of ways. CNN is still the first place most people go for breaking news events. Over the course of the Mumbai bombing news coverage CNN led in the 25-54 demo over the three days of coverage and won the Thursday rating overall. FNC still had the most viewers from sign on to sign off but if anything CNN is the first place most people go when there's breaking news of huge import. Yet, I still hear ... Read More

Pictured on the left NDP Leader Jack Layton, Liberal leader Stephane Dion and on the far right Bloc Quebecois leader Gilles Duceppe.

I'm tired of the Weis era. I want his lazy fat arse out of South Bend yesterday. The guy has literally stolen millions of dollars from the school and is pretty much a fraud. His best results have come with Ty Willingham's kids. He's taken the school to a couple bowls (probably undeservedly so) and the twam has been waxed. Weis' big signing in Jimmy Claussen? Well, underwhelming is not the right word to describe what he's ... Read More

So with the Rosie Live! train wreck on TV right now it brings up the fact that the variety format just can't work these days. There's a thread about the show in the OS forums and I made mention that the variety format is actually good but the shows that spring to mind were on TV long before most of us were born.

Now here's why the variety format can't work today, back in the day the format worked great because you had ENTERTAINERS. Today it's far too specialized. Singers are singers, ... Read More

What a striking cover to a recent issue of TIME magazine. I gotta say I don't know if any politician today can live up to those lofty expectations but Barack Obama is probably the best candidate.

I do like what Obama has done so far in his transition and I have a feeling that it's something FDR would do. It's not surprising given that in the preparations to his inauguration that Obama has been ... Read More

Howdy Pardners!

Yep, well as you can see my tastes aren't just for Marvin Gaye. So here's the background, This was a hit song for Barbara Mandrell in 1981 off her Barbara Mandrell Live and reached all the way to #1 on the Country charts and #14 on the Adult Contemporary charts. The song was originally recorded with George Jones but this video is of her performance from the 1981 CMAs where she performs the song solo.

Trivia question for you Americans out here: What's the highest rated sporting event in Canada?

Answer: The Grey Cup

Yes, as strange as it may be the championship game of the CFL is the highest rated event in Canadian sports. It's also an unofficial holiday for most people as it's often referred to as the Great Canadian Drunk.

This year's game isn't the sexiest ... Read More
