NCAA's Revamped Presentation Forgot About Its Player Graphics... Stuck
Posted on April 25, 2013 at 02:43 PM.

Improved presentation with generic player graphics. Yeah.

In what was an accidental admission of a lack of caring, one particular screenshot from the EA presentation trailer appears to show a stunning lack of care for details within NCAA Football 14.

In the image above you see three Oregon players with completely generic uniforms in the graphic. No actual team uniforms at all within that screen.

There is no excuse for the lack of attention to detail present within this screenshot. This screenshot makes the game appear completely generic and soulless in comparison. It also doesn't help that each player looks almost exactly the same as well -- giving a pretty bad impression when you really look into it.

Perhaps it's merely one of those things where there's not enough power or time, or perhaps this is something that can be fixed before launch. Perhaps it was a simple mistake or bug? But there's no excuse for something so simple being left out of the game at this point or making it's way into promotional material.

If you are wanting better looking sidelines, or a more 'alive' game, it definitely appears that won't be possible on this generation. Despite several improvements, you can see in this screen the sidelines are almost completely empty.

There are other screenshots showing a bit more press on the sidelines, but they still look empty and a chain gang still appears MIA.

What do you think about this? Is this a bad sign or just a big gaffe?

Hattip @MrLux on Twitter for pointing this out.

good job EA

To be honest...it's nothing new. I've come to realize that this is how EA works. They work half-handed most of the time. So there is no surprise from me.

I cant believe any of you would honestly think they would have it like that in the game. Its still 2+ months away. Madden last year had Mike
Vick pic for every player during videos it seemed.

I don't know why you say "it won't be possible" on this gen when it's already been done on this gen. And in the beginning of the gen no less.

DUH! they are not gonna put it in now, this will be a "feature" for next games. Duh!
I think I saw dynamic sidelines in All pro football.... in this generation.... 5 years ago.... At least we got the mascot vs mascot game

How do you get worked up about generic player faces in a game that can't include real players' faces? How is this an issue? It's a big deal that the mandatory fake faces have generic white jerseys on? Wow.

I've come to accept the bare minimum unfortunately. It actually doesn't bother me much

Constantly ringing the bell to get people even more upset at EA. SMH.

The generic face on the right looks like Dennis Haysbert, the actor from Major League, 24 and the Allstate commercials. After having to look at those same faces for years I could care less. Having the chain gang and improving the presentation on the sidelines ranks as a higher priority for me.

Two years ago Ben Haumiller stated chain gangs would be in the game. He also stated the predator dreads would be fixed. Unfortunately he did not keep his words. It is apparent EA does whatever is convenient for their company. There is no excuse for the last gen system to have more features and ability than this generation. EA - If it's in the game it's "NOT" in your game...

Come on, these are works in progress. We are so fickle that we complain when pre-release images lack detail. Then, we'll complain that the graphics don't represent the final game if they are "too good to be true". This is just troll material.

no shocker here. will be interested to see how the final build plays though.

EA's sports games reached their peak with their 13 titles. The 14 titles don't excite anyone. Unles a blog or video blog comes out detailing what they did new to grass lighting etc its basically going to be a tweaked game

there are obvious reasons why everything is generic... the O'Bannon case. It doesn't really take away from anything most of us skip past those screens.

Shocker an EA game that doesn't have the most obvious feature that would complete the game? I mean come on don't they realize it's the little things that make the game? Obviously not, it's the $ that make their games.
