NCAA's Revamped Presentation Forgot About Its Player Graphics... Stuck
Posted on April 25, 2013 at 02:43 PM.

Improved presentation with generic player graphics. Yeah.

In what was an accidental admission of a lack of caring, one particular screenshot from the EA presentation trailer appears to show a stunning lack of care for details within NCAA Football 14.

In the image above you see three Oregon players with completely generic uniforms in the graphic. No actual team uniforms at all within that screen.

There is no excuse for the lack of attention to detail present within this screenshot. This screenshot makes the game appear completely generic and soulless in comparison. It also doesn't help that each player looks almost exactly the same as well -- giving a pretty bad impression when you really look into it.

Perhaps it's merely one of those things where there's not enough power or time, or perhaps this is something that can be fixed before launch. Perhaps it was a simple mistake or bug? But there's no excuse for something so simple being left out of the game at this point or making it's way into promotional material.

If you are wanting better looking sidelines, or a more 'alive' game, it definitely appears that won't be possible on this generation. Despite several improvements, you can see in this screen the sidelines are almost completely empty.

There are other screenshots showing a bit more press on the sidelines, but they still look empty and a chain gang still appears MIA.

What do you think about this? Is this a bad sign or just a big gaffe?

Hattip @MrLux on Twitter for pointing this out.

Same old faces we have seen for 4 years too. I always love seeing three of the same faces on different players.

I fail to see how this is an issue? It's a college football game made by the same company that is being sued for having players Jersey Numbers, Height, Weight, and sometimes Hometown (or somewhere in the vicinity). Why would they have 1000's of different faces for players? That would leave EA open to even more lawsuits. Besides are you really going to be that upset when for 95% of the game you will see there helmet and not their face anyways..

People get bent out of shape for the wrong reasons.

take it with a grain of salt, the game is still months away from release...

Doesn't the game go gold at the end of May beginning of June? That's not a couple months.

But what I don't get is even without the player likenesses and lawsuit. Why can't the uniform colors at least be correct? Does that make a player too life like to have a freaking Oregon jersey in the Oregon overlay.

1000 different faces of random people. I don't care about likenessess of current players. Just that I don't have two running backs that look exactly like my middle linebacker and my safety!

Not bent out of shape but when you scroll through the heisman winners and you think you see the face of your running back and it is the same face as other dudes from a different team.....it lacks immersion.

Some people care about uniforms, others about stadiums, I care about a bigger representation of player art. Presentation is rather dull because of it.

I don't blame them. For Dynasty mode, the players look all the same. It looks ugly how 2k does it for Association. Half the players generic and others real after 3 years. I don't like that. They don't even own the rights of the players. They would have to pay them to actually put the real players in the game and you know EA don't like to pay. They only collect paychecks. Still buying the game. I wont complain because atleast we have a NCAA Football game unlike NCAA Basketball.
