Five Most Anticipated Games Post E3 Stuck
Posted on June 9, 2012 at 10:05 AM.

The heart of sports gaming season is coming fast, as it always begins with the release of NCAA Football in July. Every year, post E3, I try to give my five most anticipated games in our genre on the Saturday after the show.

One note: this list isn't in order of the games I think will be the best, but rather the games which I simply can't wait to play.

Here's my quick hitting list, be sure to share yours!

1. Madden NFL 13 - Real time physics? A self-touted redefinition of the sports game career mode? Madden is by far and away the most intriguing game of 2012. Something tells me it'll be a smashing hit or a colossal failure, with a slight lean towards the former because I'm an optimist.

2. FIFA Soccer 13 -This is the pure "can they really top last year's effort" pick. It's going to be the second year of the Impact Engine, so a lot of the kinks will be worked out. This year's won't be as innovative as last years, but I fully expect it to be 'better.'

3. NBA 2K13 -I think everyone in the room knows what's going on here. The 2K13 team is feeling a bit of pressure no doubt seeing their cohorts on the MLB Franchise pack up and go elsewhere while EA debuts a new (but shaky) NBA game. The pressure will be on to replicate the hype and success of two years ago (2K11) -- the game should still be great regardless, let's hope gimicky isn't the name of the game.

4. Forza Horizon - Obviously there are a few red flags here, anytime a franchise branches off from what made it what it is -- well it can go one of two ways. Either Forza will become a more regular title, with a lot of games using the name and engine in new and exciting ways -- or this initial attempt to branch out will be kind of meh. Either way, October 23 can't come soon enough.

5. The Wii-U - I know. This isn't a game per-se, but I'm really getting a "We want to release a console like the Dreamcast" vibe from Nintendo. And while the Dreamcast really did rock, and since I was one of 30 people to apparently buy it, the rest of you really missed out on a great console that was just too early. I get the feeling the Wii-U could meet a similar fate even despite what will likely be a pretty strong list of games.

Fifa 13 - If it's as good as it looks, I may not need to get another game.
Madden 13 - Looks interesting. I think there is a good chance I'd pick it up.

That's about it. This will be the first time I haven't bought NCAA since '03. I really didn't like the basketball games this year. I bought NBA2k12 and played it for a week at most.

NBA 2k13 for the fact that they've already improved some issues from 2k12, and I liked 2k12 and it was a step up from 2k11. Madden 13 I'm going to wait for the reviews to see if I'll pick it up, its defiantly the most over hyped sports game this year. Live 13 I'm anticipating this game, but only because I want to see if its still terrible after all this time.

1) The Show 2013
2) Madden 13
3 NCAA 13
4 NBA 2K13

But let's face it. Can anybody beat The Show 2012??? Can even The Show out-do The Show??
I mean it's looking like Secretariat at The Belmont. There's The Show... Then waaay back in the back stretch is everybody else.

1. Madden 13
2. FIFA 13
3. Dead or Alive 5
4. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
5. Borderlands 2

I don't think either showed at E3, but I'm excited to see what the Eutechnyx team has done with Nascar the Game: Inside Line and the improvements made to F1 2012.

My list as it stands now based strictly off what I've seen from E3...
1. Watch Dogs
2. Assassin's Creed 3
3. Halo 4
4. Forza Horizon
5. Madden 13 (first year in a long time I've been excited for Madden)
6. SimCity
7. Star Wars 1313
8. NHL 13

Obviously this wasn't a sports game list because, as you can see, I only have 3 on there. NCAA would have been on there before E3, but no Infinity engine has drastically curbed my enthusiasm for the game to where I canceled my pre-order and pre-ordered Madden.

After further review, I'm changing my answer:

1. NHL 13
2. The Last of Us
3. FIFA 13
4. Madden 13
5. Need for Speed Most Wanted 2

i do it like this, i have all my sports games in some kind of rotation, never buy one 2 years in the row.
so 1 year i get, FIFA(/PES), MLB2k and NBA2k
then then next year its time for Madden, NHL and some other game (been Forza, Procycling Manager, UFC Undisputed or any other sports or non-sports title).
only rule, never a game of the same series 2 years in a row due to the low amount of changes and improvements made within just one year. and since im playing sportsgames rather extensively i wouldnt have enough time for 5+X games anyways.

My Top 5 has to include non sports games or it wouldn't be a Top 5 lol.

1. Madden 13.
2. Tomb Raider
3. The Last of Us
4. NBA 2K13
5. Live 13 (was hoping to rank this higher but it's lucky to be at #5 after the OS Preview and Jon Robinson calling it the most disappointing sports game at E3).

What a surprise that a OS staff member finds a way to get hyped and anticipate a EA game and more specifically Madden which has been a failure this generation for the most part. Take a moment to think about that then move on. A guy that does this for some type of profit just keeps on anticipating and getting hyped for proven failures. Something just seems wrong with that picture. Something seems wrong with that picture for anyone steadily getting hyped and filled with anticipation for letdowns to be frank with you.

Moving on, I anticipate success because it has been proven over time that these two products are reliable.

1 NBA 2K13
2 The Show 13 if I decide that the new consoles are not coming for another 2-3 years I will probably just go ahead and waste money on a PS3 for one game since I will eventually want both a PS3 and 360 for my collection anyway.

I am not into soccer or hockey so no hype or anticipation. Sad that football sports gaming is just a afterthought with how stale and uninspiring EA has allowed the games to get and that is the opposite of getting me hyped or filled with anticipation.

Your top 3 is my top 3. Def. loving Madden this year. I'm hoping we are not disappointed. FIFA 13 has caught my eye. And NBA 2K series always gives me months of fun.

Not so sure about NCAA yet.
