Product Placement in Games, has 2K Gone too Far? Stuck
Posted on February 14, 2009 at 12:09 PM.

What do you think about the above image? Has 2K gone too far with Pepsi products in MLB 2K9? Is this sort of thing a good or bad thing for sports gamers? And does it ruin the sense of realism?

My answers are, in order. Whoa, is that Pepsi One Ballpark? Yes, they have. It depends on how the developers implement it and yes, if it's done like above it will help ruin the sense of realism.

I'm all for companies using real life sponsors and making money off of them, but the above image is just obnoxiously bad.

What do you think?

its bad enough that it is pepsi, but seriously, the advertising whores are in full effect now. saw guitar hero world tour with "dynamic ads" ...there was a huge mcdonalds "dollar menunaire" or whatever right next to the stage.

if that doesn't scream "sell-out!" i don't know what does.

Thought you might be interested. Pasta found some articles by other game mags on the subject: Kotaku and 5WG
