Madden NFL 12; What are you really expecting..?
Posted on February 10, 2011 at 05:17 AM.
""Jon Robinson: You mentioned the tuner sets that will be in "Madden NFL 12." Can you explain how that addition will benefit gamers?

Ian Cummings: Anytime there's a bug or an exploit after launch, the majority of time you have to patch it. And doing a patch or a title update requires approvals and you need to resubmit the game. The whole process usually takes about four-to-six weeks to turnaround, from the day you make your fix to the day it gets out to consumers. But with tuner sets, it's not every little piece of code. These are small pieces of data that we are able to update in real time. We can do a little bit of testing on our end, then push it out right away. If you think about how roster updates work, that's the way a tuner set would work. Instead of waiting on the turnaround of the approvals, we can apply the fix right away. If there's any type of problem where there are too many fumbles or the offensive line isn't blocking right, tuner sets are perfect because you can make the change, get it in the game in a couple of days, and then gauge the reaction from that and make changes accordingly. It really allows you to go back and forth with the community and make the game better for everyone.""

Now, after reading this crap...! Am i supposed to be getting excited for Madden12; because they are putting in Onside kicks? And adding some tuner sets. look pass the dribble people. Tuner sets are nothing big and huge; they have been around for the last two years, at EA Sports. People need to learn how to look past the garbage and see what they really are doing with the madden franchise.
Let me tell you; it doesn't look great. Let's start looking under the hood; well, well, well, it looks like the same game engine. So what does that really mean! Your getting the same graphics as previous years, the same gameplay as recent years, the same morphing, bugs and glitches; all bundled up neat and packaged for the next sucker to buy for $60 bucks. Oh; might i add, they may throw in some "3D", and some KINECT into Madden12. Oh i can't wait to be pissed off that my Kinect sensor is so laggy, i can't make the precise cutback with my tailback (DARN it). Gimmicks, gimmicks, and more gimmicks; oh, sorry let me be more politically correct; feature, features and tones more features like onside kicks..! Who are EA Sports really selling these game to..? I can tell you, it's not the Hardcore gamer, that helped put Madden on the map! Nope, it's for little Bobby, and Jacob, that really don't know about football and want to learn in a video game, instead of going outside and playing it for real on a field.
Madden11 was the final straw that broke the camels back. It lacked soo much of everything for a video game on the next gen console. " i made this statement, because of some really great games that have been played on the Next-gen consoles; and alot of them are in their second and third year of construction ". We are now entering year "7", seven of Madden on the next-gen; and i can't believe how much fun i have playing Madden 2005 on the PS2, and NFL 2K5...! Is there, or should there be something wrong with that? I can give it to EA Sports and there rendition of Madden 2006, 2007, 2008; were all about the Next-gen "hype", so i thought i was getting a great game; "At that Time". Little did i understand, about glitches, major bugs, and fixes, that plagued these games. Well let me tell you; that crap doesn't fly with me no more; so that's why i think EA is doesn't want to cater to my HARDCORE needs; because i am now educated "just a little bit"; and would give EA Sports an ear full, if they, kept serving me that slop they called football back in 2006 - 2008.
The engine on this game is tweaked out to the max; it's time for something new! You've had since 2008 to start something new, and you haven't done a darn thing about; and now you want US, sorry me, to get all excited like a little boy about to kiss a girl for the first time..? and most of us know how that really went.
EA, it's time for a change. If i see that same running animation, and morphed broken tackles, dudes falling down for no reason ever again; i'll just rent your game instead of buying it; hey, it's football, and i need my football gaming fix.
Cheers

Personally I'm a bit dissapointed on Triburon's way of launching the info on Madden with SOK and tuner sets.

I know it's early, but come on...it's halftime superbowl, and it's there first reveal of information and that's it? I didn't expect a full reveal of franchise mode or something. But really, they could've skipped the Superbowl halftime blog with the information they gave us. Nothing they revealed, told me that this year's Madden will be any different than previous years.

Yeah tuner sets will give them the opportunity to fix issues...but the success of this will be limited to the amount of support. We've moaned about the stat glitch in franchise mode for years now and they didn't fix that...

so personally I'm a lot dissapointed...and my hopes aren't high at all...

ok here the deal i didnt buy Madden NFL 11. Wanna know why? Because i have madden NFL 10! Its the same freaking game! EA has put out an inferior product for a while because they have no competition and until they do they will continue to do so. Why should they strive for excellence when evey year people run like lambs to the slaughter to buy this garbage. If our good friends at SCEA San Diego (the good folks who produce MLB The Show) were allowed to put out an NFL approved game, Madden would ever be forced to produce or go home. But alas they are the only girl at the dance. The exclusivity license needs to go away.

I expect the same thing I do every year. Hope for the best but expect the mediocre.

I trading in my copy of Madden 11 because I realized I already had it. Madden 10. I won't be buying Madden 12 this year either unless the franchise mode it very much like NFL Head Coach 09. I have played that game a lot here lately and I keep finding myself wishing that is how the franchise mode was in Madden. Can't understand why they can have a terrible superstar mode, UT, and other dumb stuff they keep working on and not have a deep franchise mode!!! Old games didn't have tuner sets because they didn't need them.

Honest truth, and this is not a bash....

It'll fall somewhere between a "little better than last year" but not the level of improvement we would've liked.

I'm done buying Madden! Can't believe a freaking BASEBALL game (MLB the Show) blows Madden away and we can't forget the 2K basketball series. MADDEN wake up play these two games to find out how sports game should be made and I agree please get rid of the NFL exclusive license for Madden your nickname is...."Lazy FAT CAT!"

In the NHL series, the tuner sets work really well. You can use any of the tuner sets that are released, so there is usually a tuner set created that works with almost every gamer.

Of course, the tuner sets are only as good as the computer AI of the game. NHL's AI is light years ahead of Madden's when it comes to quality. If Madden had an AI that could compare to NHL, then it would be worth getting excited over. Until then, I will continue to boycott Madden and stick with NHL.

@TheCreep -- Have you played Madden10, and then play Madden11? Or how's about playing a game of Madden 2009 and tell me if they aren't the same bug filled and crappy presented games...yes they are! You may want to call it a new feature from 2009 to 2011; but it's all a gimmick to the hardcore nation that has brought Madden into the limelight. Pro-Tak...please (busted); Gameflow...game what? Oh please...(garbage); where in those games do you find something for the hardcore gamer?
As i stated before; they need to change the gaming engine of the game for it to hopefully shine once again. Enough with the add a gimmick a year crap.
Oh and btw (TheCreep); how much more do you think the dev team is going to add to this years game? Not much at all; to an already maxed out engine; if you didn't understand what i was stating; oh, sorry ranting about.

Not getting too excited for Madden 12 at the moment. I'm sure we will see improvements in most areas but as for any major step forwards or new innovations, I doubt it. Presenation will almost certainly be as bland as ever. How EA have never given this area of the game any real effort is beyond me.

It is funny how people still defend Madden. "TheCreep" Why wait until we know all the details? Just play Madden 11 then add the two things they said would be added. They might roll out online franchise info that tells us "it is now just as deep as offline franchise!" That will be about it. Unless something big happens I am done with new Madden games. Madden 06 "for PS2" is more fun than Madden 11 anyway.

When it comes to Madden you have to view all the info as half empty. You also have to understand that this dev team has had to clean up a mess.
They are on record last year talking how Franchise mode and to be torn down and rebuilt. Okay, Madden 11 untouched 'chise mode is understandable.

Releasing the info they have so far was not what I had in mind. I too wanted something like another guarantee that Franchise mode has been rebuilt.

Again, Nothing against Ian and the dev team. Liked Madden 10! My hesitation comes before Madden was ever sent to stores for the next gen consoles. EA's Jeremy Strausser anserwed questions about Madden and next gen. The possibilities were endless in his explaining EA making a game for next gen. Strausser lied! He's still part of the "think" tank & because of that, doubt will always be there.
He has been there during 06-09 Madden game that were horrible!

Still cringe when playing Franchise mode Pre-Season game and in the 2nd half starters (for the CPU team) are still in the game while I am playing 2nd and 3rd stringers.

I have done all I can by posting in the "Wishlist" area of this board. I'll be waiting for news to come down about Franchise Mode.

Why do people constantly Complain about game flow? it's a great feature, which is an option you don't have to use. If you don't like the game or the direction the game is going don't buy or support the game, simple as that. Everyone talks about the "Hard core Madden fans" that bought Madden to greatness, if you are so hard core you would continue to support the francise, even when it's "Down." If anything you are "Fair weather Madden fans", because true fans never abandon something they are true to. I understand the frustration, but understand history does repeat itself, and one day Madden will return to greatness, along with several other competing companies.
