Cover 3 Part 2

In this second installment of the Cover 3 defense, I will focus on the 4-3 defensive front.

Your standard Cover 3 play. Feel free to shift and crash the defensive line any way you like. I recommend to the left and show blitz to put the SS in the box. Also user control the Strong Safety.

Rather than flipping the play, I suggest going with the Cover 3 Buzz as an alternate look.

Another solid cover 3 look that rotates assignments. Feel free to flip this play. It's also good to build blitzes out of.

A Cover 3 Soft CB Blitz. Flip to send the other CB instead. There are afew things I like to do with the CB Blitz. Sometimes I like to send it when the offense is on the far left hash mark to compress the distance the CB has to run to the QB. However, most QBs are right handed and are more comfortable scrambling away from the blitz to their right, so depending on who I am playing against, I will actually flip the play and blitz off the right side. The goal here is to force the QB to scramble against the grain, and because the offense is on the left hash mark, he has less room to move around in. Reverse that idea with a lefty.

A Cover 3 Soft SS blitz. It's a good idea to show blitz here. Because I tend to call the basic Cover 3 hard and show blitz, I find this to be a good play to mix in and keep the offense honest. Flip to send the FS.

Another good play to keep the offense honest. Use the "Show Blitz" feature and user control the SS.

Also, flip the play to send the Will. There is a 4-3 Odd Will 3 Fire, but I don't like it as much as flipping this play.

Finally, tell the Mike to blitz and drop the Sam into coverage to create a Mike Fire 3 [not found in Madden.] In this case I suggest you control the Sam.

Now coming back to the cover 6, here are some blitzes I would create:

Will Fire 6 - Blitz the will, drop the CB into a yellow hook zone and user the Mike.

Mike Fire 6- Blitz the mike, drop the flats CB into a yellow hook zone and user the Sam

Sam Fire 6 - Blitz the Sam and user the flats CB.

CB Fire 6 - Blitz the flats CB and user the Sam.
