This may be the game where Texas State is favored most this season. Georgia State is 2-4 and on paper they don't match well at all with the Bobcats. It may be a blowout, but let's wait and see. It would be embarrassing to get upset with so much confidence.

San Marcos, TX -- Texas State found their winning ways again as they won their first conference game this year, pulling away from the Warhawks in the second half. But while it was still close, we hear there were words between head coach Dennis Franchione and offensive coordinator Sean O'Bradovich again regarding going for it on 4th down. Again, I wouldn't put too much thought into this. An offensive coordinator will always want to go for it, and sometimes you've gotta get the three points or even punt or else it can come back to bite you.
The ULL game could just be a blip on the radar as TX St is now 5-1. That's impressive no matter how you slice it.

The Bobcats have done a complete 180 as once they were wondering if anyone could stop them, to wondering when they will get their first conference win of the season. This week they face a formidable opponent in the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. Sitting at 2-3, the Warhawks have the ability to shake Texas State's confidence even more.

Lafayette, LA -- The Bobcats may put up points, but they can't stop every other offense from doing the same. The Ragin' Cajuns of ULL put and end to Texas State's winning streak by giving them a dose of their own medicine, dropping 41 on them.
The Bobcats stopped ULL's opening drive of the game, but squandered their first possession. On the first play of TX St.'s opening drive, quarterback Jordan Moore threw an interception which would result in 7 points by the Cajuns' offense. From there, it was a back and forth which the Bobcats had experienced before, but Moore's second interception and ULL's persistence to score was too much for Texas State to overcome.
There seemed to be some friction between Bobcats head coach Dennis Franchione and offensive coordinator Sean O'Bradovich, as a critical 4th and 2 situation left O'Bradovich overruled by Franchione to settle for a field goal.
"It was just a typical bumping of heads in the heat of the moment", said Franchione when asked about the incident. O'Bradovich echoed Franchione's sentiments when he was asked the same question.
Regardless, it was Texas State's defense who came up short on this one. We knew the Bobcats weren't invincible, but it's still a kick in the gut to an otherwise exciting season.

Conference play begins for the Bobcats as they face the Ragin' Cajuns of ULL (3-1) in the boggy, swampy town of Lafayette. This could be an even bigger challenge for Dennis Franchione and company than Texas Tech. They need to keep in mind that anyone can knock them off of this high right now.
Bobcat quarterback Jordan Moore is leading the country in passing yards and Texas State is number one in the nation in passing offense. It's hard to imagine anyone can slow this offense down, but if anyone can do it in the Sun Belt, it's ULL.

Texas State improved their record to 4-0 as they completely dismantled the Wyoming Cowboys. There really isn't much to say about this one, other than this game putting Bobcats quarterback Jordan Moore in a big lead for passing yards in the entire country. Terrance Franks had his own day in the sun as he ran for four touchdowns. Other than that, this was never really a game.
Conference play starts next week and the Bobcats couldn't be in a better position. I'm pretty sure none of us can wait for TX St to wreak havoc on the Sun Belt.

The Bobcats are riding high from their win in Lubbock last week. But it's time to get back to work and handle business against their next non-conference foe, Wyoming. This has the makings of a trap game of sorts for Texas State. Wyoming is 1-3 and the Bobcats start conference play the following week in Lafayette. They cannot look past this potentially dangerous passing game that Wyoming is capable of performing.

Lubbock, TX -- Another opponent, another defense caught off guard by the high flying Bobcats pass attack. Texas State got the ball first and scored with relative ease on a touchdown pass to Brandon Smith. When Texas Tech got the ball, they squandered their opportunity and went three-and-out. So the Bobcats turned right around and drove the ball downfield until Terrance Franks ran the ball in from the TX St. 2 yard line. Down 14-0, the Red Raiders must have felt too much pressure because they couldn't get anything going yet again. They punted again to the Bobcats who had a chance to go up 21-0. But quarterback Jordan Moore threw a pick six and made it a game again.
From there, it was a back-and-forth scoring spree and the game was too close for comfort for the Bobcats. In the 4th quarter, they finally got the stop that they needed and answered with another touchdown to make it 38-24. Texas Tech would score again late in the game, but it was too late.
This is a very special win for Texas State as they've rarely started the season 3-0 in their entire history. And to do that against a Power 5 Conference school makes it that much more enjoyable. Right now it's good to be a Bobcat.

Texas Tech is 1-2, but they've faced much better competition than Texas State has. It will be interesting to see how the Bobcats handle freshman phenom quarterback Baker Mayfield. This will be the first team this season that can run offenses right alongside Texas State and put pressure on Jordan Moore to keep up the pace. Should be fun to watch.

Since there isn't much other news this week, let's update you on the Bobcats recruiting trail as of late. The team will need to fill voids on the defensive line, quarterback, fullback, and punter next year due to players at those positions leaving. As it currently stands, Texas State has already received a commit from a 2-star prospect, fullback Wesley Garner. A 5'11" 234 lb native of Vivian, Louisiana, Garner's biggest strength is in blocking. The Bobcats new scheme employs a lot of I-formation runs, so Garner's talents will serve this team well.
As far as notable players targeted, the Bobcats have their eye on quarterback Ben Barrett - a 3-star prospect, Andy Mason - a hard hitting 3-star caliber safety, and wide receiver Anthony East - an intriguing 4-star prospect that could really make waves for this team in the future.
We will keep you updated on further recruiting news throughout the season.

San Marcos, TX -- Texas State had some trouble stopping the Prairie View A&M Panthers in Bobcat Stadium last night, but it didn't matter as the Panthers couldn't keep up with the Bobcats track meet style offense. Down 14-0 early, A&M finally found their legs and starting putting up points. But it was too late. Bobcats quarterback Jordan Moore tied the school record for touchdowns in a game with four, and running back Terrance Franks scored three of his own.
We all know it's not going to be this easy. But it's nice to see Texas State winning the games they're supposed to win in big fashion. And let's not forget, this is exciting football. There were plenty of empty seats in San Marcos last night, but that won't be the case next time.

This might be the week we see more of the talents of running back Terrance Franks, as A&M has a rather weak front seven. Franks did well against Southern Miss, grinding for over 100 yards and scoring two touchdowns. So the Bobcats have strengths on the ground as well as in the air.
