Thanks to Trojan Man for helping pull this back into focus after every patch sends us all back to the drawing board.

Also, JoshC / tdawg (I highly recommend his XP sliders) / SJH have all offered invaluable expertise and insight into our "collective" processes, which is MUCH appreciated.

As always:

I advise that you use as low a AWR QB as possible...that rating determines how the CPU calibrates its defense against you, so for the sake of pure challenge...less is more...I prefer the 60 - 70 AWR range for my QBs , and never go above 75...

Personally, I've always used rookie QBs or a mediocre player that will be replaced by a drafted rookie after Season One...

Furthermore:

After the recent December patch, Team Default playbooks are actually working quite effectively for the CPU...but generics and esp. customs work EVEN BETTER, with regard to overall challenge from the CPU opponent...

If you plug the set in "as is" and follow those guidelines, the CPU can be a formidable opponent...even on AP...

Well, esp. if you use teams like CLE / CHI / SF / etc...

Enjoy!

Yeah, I played with this a bunch on AM in the development phase....VERY difficult at times to generate a consistent HUM pass rush (which can lead to high comp % for CPU QB), but overall, plays well "as is"...

So going to post this here and in Josh's thread as well as both sets are extremely close...King u know been jumping around between "out of box" and ur set..now if anyone has been like me and jumping between OOTB or different sets..if u come back to this set You MUST delete profile and also must start game then back out all the way save, and reset Madden from the beginning..if not it appears the set does not take effect until u do this..I was lost until I did this thinking this set lost its touch..but it hasn't this set is easily the best their is..in my eyes..also this set is great for Coach Mode and CPUvCPU..which I'm doing now..also as King has pointed out setting ur scheme and player type to balance helps with making it more difficult..thank you King and Trojan..

Thanks for the props, SJH...

I always trust your eye and opinion, with regard to "all things Madden"...

Thanks as well, for the tips on rebooting when moving from one slider set / concept to the next...

Good to know that it's also working "as intended" for Coach Mode...another plus...

Best regards!

Hey King,

I've been trying your sliders on All Madden and really like what I see minus one thing: CPU interceptions. They warp to the ball and make insane picks every game. Any ideas here?

I was also wondering if you had tested Josh's new finding and how you thought they impacted your set.

# 35 KingV2k3 @ Jan 29
The CPU INT thing on AM isn't really possible to weed out with the INT slider this year (they're ALL an interdependent mess), so if you like everything else, I just suggest you only pass to players that are WIDE open...

If that means checking down until the back off by over playing the dump offs, then that's what you have to do...

I was able to get a 95.0 plus rating with Cody Kessler on AM, with this set...so it's possible...

You really have to set up your shots though playcalls throughout the game to open the windows...

The run game / screens / crossing routes, etc...

If you play classic "West Coast", you can open up the Vertical...

I'll bet that in the replays, there WAS a better option available...so learn to hit THAT guy...

Since you've been playing my sets for a couple years, you must be more than capable of all of the above...

You just have to recalibrate what you perceive "open" is, relative to AM...

As far as the latest Josh stuff goes:

Those INJ and Fatigue settings in the MM are going to affect block shed (fatigue is tied to that), so it would necessitate a total rebuild of the holding versus mask relationship this set is based on...

I'm deep in Season Three in my current SF CFM, so it's too late in the cycle for that, for me...

Well, kp88:

"Upon Further Review" and at the recommendation of Trojan Man (who knows this set inside and out), I've decided to give Josh's IBITB setting (50 / 49) a shot...

I HOPE that it'll result in the CPU running the ball more effectively, without overpowering the already stout HUM run...

It'll also be interesting to see if / how it impacts pass blocking...

We shall see...

I'll have to see if I can adjust to the new coverage. Perhaps I had a string of bad luck with difficult interceptions. Sometimes I make tight reads based on momentum and body positioning, and that pretty much always seemed to backfire. It might have something to do with those Eagles recievers though haha! Sean Lee also made one of those old school superman picks, but that might be more of a Sean Lee problem than a slider problem.

I'm definitely curious to see what your thoughts are on the IBITB setting as I haven't tried it yet. I also was worried it would boost user running.

I might also try Josh's new settings, but perhaps on All Madden. I remember using the 1 value in older iterations with surprising results, so I'd be interested to see its effect on fatigue.

As always, keep me posted!

Yeah, only you know what those replays reveal...and that's historically been the case when folks have the issue you described...

The AM windows are really tight and the players close on the ball really fast...so you have to recalibrate your perception of who's REALLY open...

Anyway:

Tried IBITB at 49 and really liked it...

CPU run game was more robust / better ball carrier vision / better pass blocking...

The CPU just played better on that setting...

The odd thing is that I didn't notice anything perceptively better with regard to HUM outcome...

Things looked smoother, but my stats were typical...while theirs were improved dramatically...

Will mos def be sticking with that single adjustment for the time being...

MIGHT take a look at the rest when my next season begins, but right now I'm in too deep to risk a rebuild...

That's why I decided to try the single move...it would reveal it's effect quickly...

Hey there King, I'm really like the tweaks overall. I was wondering if you'd tried All Madden yet, or whether you'd tried making other tweaks knowing they may be more cooperative now.

I have noticed a slight uptick in downfield blocking, so I might go back to giving these a try on All Madden.

# 40 KingV2k3 @ Feb 9
Hey kp88:

I had my yearly fill of AM nonsense in my CLE CFM and won't be going back...the arbitrariness of the AI on that level just drives me nutz...

I'm just playing out my current CFM w / SF with the posted set "as is" and doubt there'll be any updates or additions...but then again, I thought that before the last go round, so...

# 41 KingV2k3 @ Feb 10
Also, assigning custom O and D books to the CPU really ramps up their competitiveness...

Targeting of standout players on O and increased general effectiveness, overall...

# 42 kennypowers88 @ Feb 15
Well, I was able to try All Madden with the new set, and had some decent games with CFM fatigue at 50. It seemed like All Madden amplified the 75 fatigue setting. I never even got to try custom playbooks.

But I've decided to download the patch after reading the notes and impressions. I was curious what you decided King, and whether you had any initial thoughts. I still haven't had time to try it out myself.

# 43 KingV2k3 @ Feb 15
I also decided to DL, based on Trojan Man's impressions via PM and his post in Josh's thread...doesn't seem to require any set adjustment, just boosts CPU run / fixed CPU punts / smoothed out OL & DL interaction, etc...

I hope to have some more concrete impressions after a few played games, though this upcoming weekend...

# 44 kennypowers88 @ Feb 18
Well I got a game and it played very well, but haven't had any success getting custom playbooks to work. The game keeps showing an error. I've followed the directions I saw, but get an error every time. I'll give custom playbooks a shot.

# 45 KingV2k3 @ Feb 18
I'm not sure why the customs aren't working for you, but the generics also don't work too bad, either...

Going to start a new CFM an implement a couple minor changes...

RTP is going to 50 / 50 for the time being and am also going to try to revisit the RBK gameplay slider...

Hum @ 45 / CPU @ 55
