I've had it with 2K12.
They went overboard with controls this year. I know people want "total control" and all that crap, but it gets ridiculous when there are so many controls and when you think you are doing one thing and the game does something else.
Example: tried to do a simple crossover, my PG did a hesitation move and then a crossover, dribbled it off of Baron Davis' knee an turned it over. Another example, told OJ Mayo to do a right handed layup, he did a reverse dunk over PAU GASOL and ANDREW BYNUM. Looks cool... would never freaking happen.
The CPU cheats. At halftime the Lakers had 9 steals, 5 off of entry passes to the post. My guard threw a little fairy pass to the post, got picked off every time. The also had 8 blocks, 4 were from MATT BARNES, one of which was a Blake Griffin dunk.
They are given superhuman strength and hypnotic awareness. Ron Artest cannot drive past Steve Blake because Blake muscled him back. Blake Griffin can't drive past Pau Gasol because he morphs into place.
Not to mention there was absolutely nothing done to Association. The left the door wide freaking open to EA Sports in my mind, can't wait to see what they come up with after a 2 year cycle.

Sorry if my comment came off as smart you know what. I mean it just takes time to learn the controls and ppl wanna do what they did in 2k11 without taking the time to really learn the controls. Game is great and takes a min to learn controls. Practice more or just enjoy 2k11!!

No, I know the controls, it's just a matter of executing. I'm going to give it some more time, but I'm leaning towards 2K11. I just liked last years control scheme better. This year I think there are just too many shot types and when I'm trying to shoot a drifter he shoots a running hook, it's the little things. I also think it's too easy for the CPU to get blocks and steals, no matter how much I tune the sliders, it's the same thing over and over.

It seems to me like the passing is on delay, when I run a play the "A" button comes up to pass, but it seems like forever to make the pass and the pass gets tipped.

You guys should go check out the TRUTHS sliders on the NBA 2K12 forum. Best I've used so far. And as far as controls practice makes perfect.

The controla and everythinga re fine. and the Ai deosnt cheat.
The game is about total control and playing within ones onw skill level.
play straight up fundamental basketball. if you want to do crossover, combinations etc, play on arcade level. in sim mode- you have to pick your spots, know your players tendencies, know your defenders tendenices, etc.
This game is awesome. 2k11 is good but 2k12 even with some of its issues, is still the superior product.
you can always change your control settings from the total control setting.

You shouldn't have to play on an arcade level to pull off a simple crossover. Sim should be sim, Ron Artest should be able to muscle past Steve Blake not get pushed back. Derrick Rose should be able to crossover Baron Davis and get into the paint. And a simple pass to the post shouldn't result in the CPU point guard doing a rocket jump to knock it down and steal it. And on sim or any other level, Blake Griffin dunks on Matt Barnes, he doesn't get blocked by him...

^^If D Rose could do a cross over and get by a defender every time the game would get boring real quick, don't you think. In addition, Ive seen defenses adjust to DROSE. didnt Miami do that last year in several games during the playoffs.
The passing game, angles and anticipating what the defender is going to do. if a defender sags off of you while you are attempting to make an entry pass into the post, he's going for a steal or a double team.
not making excuses, but smart game play minimizes these so called issues, which I don't think they are.

I don't mean every time, because sure he would start to sag off, but it seems like I never can and with the force field defense I feel like once I'm bumped I've lost control, I can't counter them bumping me. The thing that got on my nerves most last night was weak guys stopping strong guys. Steve Blake muscling Ron Artest, never going to happen. Blake Griffin having to adjust a layup against Mo Williams (who was just standing there). I'm not saying it's a bad game, there are just some issues that I find highly annoying.

you sound like a guy who was getting a kick out of doing euro steps and side hops in 2k11, which is like an automatic bucket, and now 2k12 has made it so you have to learn the game again and your little video game cred/pride has been injured...
The controls and gameplay are just fine, There are subtle changes to association, and aside from the removal of some of the previous online game modes (namely crew games) the online experience is about the same as it always has been, for better or for worse (im not an avid online gamer, but my bro is and thats his ideas for it).
I honestly cant see anyone going back to 2k11 after playing 2k12 unless A) you really miss crew games B) You liked the jordan mode that much or C) you hate losing and find it difficult to win in 2k12 since they removed alot of the cheeser moves from 2k11.

It's not about being able to do them all the time, it's about me never being able to pull off certain moves. You really think Blake Griffin would get a dunk blocked by Matt Barnes? You really think Baron Davis can consistently stay in front of Derrick Rose?
PS. I don't have any video game cred/pride; that would be ridiculous. I have pride in my ACTUAL ability to play and coach basketball and I think I can honestly decide what is realistic and what isn't in a video game.

If you are talking about coaching and playing basketball, why are you concerned with dunking to begin with. I havent had any problems with dunking and finishing around the rim. In fact i edit sliders to make those things a bit harder and more realistic. But if it bothers you so much just adjust the sliders a little. If you run plays (cuz ur a coach or something) then you will get into the real heart of 2k12 gameplay, the play running is extremely deep and fun if you are into that sort of stuff (hey...i am). And crossing over guards is way too easy in the game. They beefed up the interior defense for that very reason, they want you to be able to get to the rim at will with derrick rose, but they want you to learn when you should force the finish vs when you should dish it out.
Honestly if you are talking about playing and coaching basketball, in the nba, even guys like lebron and rose dont attack and dunk every possession. If you are talking about realism, then maybe you should try to play basketball the way it is supposed to be played...smart. If you want to do dunks, change the game to default or casual or customize the sliders you see fit.

Nobody will stop you from going back to 2K11 lol. If you feel going back then go. Most important thing is to have fun playing a basketball video game. For me, 2K12 is the greatest basketball game to date and I love the new controls. I play it daily after work.
