Blake Bortles seemingly had a handle on the Philadelphia defense at one point in the game. Up 21-7 entering the fourth quarter, all the Jaguars had to do was run out the clock. Bortles threw two costly interceptions though, including a pick-six with 48 seconds left in the game.
The Jaguars defense was impressive, forcing two Nick Foles interceptions. But it proved to be irrelevant as Bortles couldn't manage to hold on for the victory. In the post game press conference he was quoted as saying, "Obviously my performance was less than stellar, and I'll be working to improve as time goes on."
The other faucets of the team's game seemed to come together. Benjarvus Green-Ellis managed to put together a decent game, running 16 times for 101 yards. Paul Posluszny and Asante Samuel both grabbed two interceptions and Justin Blackmon caught a pair of touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Jacksonville did look impressive and will hope to refine their play against Washington next week.

Jacksonville enjoyed the opportunity to tinker with their roster during the pre-season. After charging to 3-1 behind strong running back play, it appears Blake Bortles will man the controls heading into Week 1.
In a surprising turn of events, Toby Gerhart was cut after an uninspiring outing in their pre-season opener which spurned a slew of free agent signings to compete for the job.
Storylines to follow:
The Curious Case of Benjarvus Green-Ellis:
Green-Ellis won the starting job in a competition that included Michael Bush, Willis McGahee, Ryan Williams, Denard Robinson and Storm Johnson. It'll be interesting to see if he can carry this momentum and have a good showing in Week 1.
Frosted Blakes?:
Blake Bortles was given the starting job despite lackluster play during the pre-season. If things go south for him early in the season, will Henne's number be called?
Allen "The Hitman" Hurns:
The wideout was viewed as a "diamond in the rough" during pre-season showing great glimpses of play making ability. Teammate Willis McGahee gave him the nickname "The Hitman" after famed boxer Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns. This was prompted by a scuffle that occurred during a training camp scuffle that saw Hurns deck kicker David Akers. Can he land a knockout punch to Philadelphia's defense?
Jacksonville showed heart in their pre-season outings, but as we all know pre-season isn't a good indicator of how the regular season will go. There's a lot of talented young blood in the lineup though, and they're looking to shake things up.

Below Gets the Best of English, 35-24
The Media had deemed this game the "Clash of the Titans". On one side you have Jack English, the phenom from Stanford, the man that's supposed to raise the bar for the gold standard of quarterbacks in the NFL. Then on the other side you have Biff Below, the golden boy from Florida. He was supposed to be the biggest bust since Ryan Leaf and cost Lou McCullen his career in the NFL.
These two quarterbacks have breathed new life into an otherwise lifeless rivalry. Lets face it, nobody really cared for this rivalry. The last game that people stood up and took note of was the "Miracle in the Meadowlands", and that was years ago. Jets and Dolphins fans alike needed a reason to get excited about this rivalry, and they got it.
In my opinion, they didn't disappoint, either. It was a close game up until the end. Pundits everywhere said that this game would come down to a single, cataclysmic mistake that would swing the pendulum of victory to one side or the other. That pendulum swing came in the fourth quarter, as usual.
As the third quarter came to an end, fans everywhere were ready to chalk this up as a Jack English victory. The Dolphins walked into the third with possession of the ball, and a ten point lead (24-14). But after a Dolphins three-and-out, the Jets luck turned around as they turned the next ten minutes into two touchdowns, taking the lead 28-24.
Jack English would have none of this though. Marching his offense downfield, English managed to get his team down to the Jets 10-yard line with 2:33 left in the game, this is when things took a turn for the worse though. At this point, English dropped back, whirred a beauty toward the endzone, and watched in dismay as Juran Riley tipped the ball right into Mack "Truck" Johnson's waiting hands to ostensibly put away the surging Dolphins.
Below would take this opportunity to drive downfield with a series of long passes and score a quick touchdown as time expired to assure victory for the Jets.
It's interesting how even though the Jets are playoff bound at 9-2 and the Dolphins are most likely going to have the first pick in the draft this year at 2-9, we can still get excited about a game like this. Jack English hasn't had the wild success he was expected to have in his first year in the NFL, but give him some time and watch the Dolphins become contenders within the next few years.
On the flip side, we see Biff Below who has had the wild success that Jack English was supposed to have! He's captaining a talented and young team that can most likely look forward to frequent playoff visits, and hopefully a Super Bowl win. One thing we as NFL fans can look forward to, though, is the rivalry between these two quarterbacks and teams.

Jets Edge Past Patriots in Final Seconds, 28-25
Biff Below has been the topic of discussion here in New York over the past few months. In recent weeks he's been called the "Messiah of the Meadowlands". Below had been putting up good numbers and impressing players, fans, and coaches alike around the league. But with all this praise and whatnot, one question remained:
Can you beat the Patriots?
Well, it wasn't clean by any means, but yes, yes he can. It took a last second fourth quarter pass to wideout Peter Bayless to seal the deal, but he got the job done, he toppled Tom Brady and the Patriots.
The Pats proved worthy opponents to Below, as they managed to sack him six times and pick him off four times, but Biff Below wouldn't stop raging ahead. The quarterback threw for over 450 yards, and stimulated the otherwise stagnant Jets offense.
The Jets can now look forward to going into their bye week with a win under their belt and the lead in the AFC East firmly in hand. At 4-1, this years Jets are looking nothing like the troubled team of 2008.

Potter Runs Over Falcons on the way to a Week 3 Victory
Biff Below was the talk of the town last week over his superhuman performance against the Cleveland browns. This week, however, a new star emerged on the Jets offense and grabbed the spotlight for at least this week.
Don't get me wrong, Biff Below had a decent game. He went 19-30, throwing for 200+ yards, a rushing touchdown, and a passing touchdown. So he did his part. But the real story, at least in my opinion, lies with Chuck Potter.
Potter isn't the kind of guy you expect to hog the spotlight. He's merely a roleplayer on this Jets team. He's their pass-catching double threat back, and has managed to do well as such. But today he got to stretch his legs a bit, and boy did he ever. Potter rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on the way to a Jets victory over Atlanta 31-13.
"I was happy with his work on Sunday," Coach McCullen said after the game, "he was red hot, so we just kept giving him the ball, and he didn't disappoint."

Biff Below = The Future
(Jetsblog.com)
by Ryan Martin
Last season I spent all season singing the praises of one quarterback by the name of Biff Below. Now, this Below guy was coming out of Florida, and he was being touted as the biggest bust of the draft. Analysts said it would be career suicide to pick Biff Below. Funny how these last two weeks have turned out though, huh?
Now, you could make an argument over the first game about Below throwing two interceptions and whatnot. Let's keep in mind that this was his first official NFL start. He hit some snags, but overall, it was just as good a game as any game Kellen Clemens or Chad Pennington had last season. Plus, he brought us to within eight points of beating one of the best teams from last season. I'd like to point out, as well, that we were on our game-winning drive until Jerricho Cotchery fumbled the ball away, resulting in a Bills touchdown.
As far as the second game goes, though, I won't listen to any arguments. The Browns may not be a top-tier team, but that is irrelevant. Below tossed for over 450 yards and 6 touchdowns. And NO interceptions. Did you read that? None. Not even one. He found his rhythm early and simply couldn't be stopped. The Browns kept it interesting by taking us into overtime, and Vernon Gholston managed to scoop up that fumble and let Biff Below lead the game-winning drive.
Say what you will, but this guy gives Jets fans like me some serious optimism.
