NBA 2K11 ASSOCIATION WISHLIST.
With the announcement that 2K are about to give out some details on the core game modes of NBA 2K11 I thought I would take the opportunity to make a list of what I'm hoping to see in the meat & gravy mode. Association.

Although 2K's big announcement this year is the inclusion of MJ, which I'm pleased to say seems much more than just a gimmick, for myself & many more gamers it will be what Association Mode brings to the table that will determine the long term appeal of 2K11.

Here's my list of hopeful changes for this year:-

1.) NBA D League - I want the same level of presentation in D League games as those in the top flight games. Notably in regards to the inclusion of commentary & cut scenes.

2.) Menu Presentation Upgrade - I am a great fan of the menu navigation system employed by 2K across their sports titles. However while the method is great the visuals are very bland.

3.) Weekly News Show - This could work really well with the NBA Today feature. Although highlights from other games is probably too big a ask, a Weekly Show reporting top games from the week, form players, injury news & the like would bring alot to the broadcast style approach NBA 2K11 aims for.

4.) Hot/Cold Player Tracking - Have a list of form players showing notable stats across the league.

5.) Game Summaries - When looking at other results from around the league rather than showing a full page of individual stats show just the notable statistics from the game.

6.) Score Updates - During breaks in the game you are playing have the commentators update you of any current games in progress.

7.) Revise Player Morale - Too many times I have players who have low morale because of lack of minutes per game only to have the players become excessively fatigued when floor time is increased.

8.) Full All Star Weekend Package

Their are probably other things that I have forgotten to mention but this will do for now. Let me know your thoughts.

If any of you guys, like me, have never been satisfied with the design of the early Light Grey Xbox 360 then can I recommend popping over to:- http://skinsforconsoles.co.uk

These console skins are a great way to smarten up your machine. I was a little hesitant to pay £20 on a product I wasn't too sure about but after reading some positive reviews I decided to take a chance. The full kit comprises of skins for the sides & front panel of the 360 as well as for one controller (additional ... Read More

With years end almost upon us & with no more sport titles releasing until 2011 I thought it time to reflect on the years release with the best 3 & worst 3 sports/racing games of the year.
When considering my choices I like to weigh up not just the quality of the final product but also the level of expectation prior to it's release.

BEST OF 2010:-

1.) NBA 2K11 - Despite the fact that I already expected alot from 2K's basketball game & despite the fact that there ... Read More

Okay Darts maybe not be the ultimate sport for simulating in a videogame but O-Games have done a really impressive job with PDC World Championship Darts Pro Tour. Much improved from their earlier efforts with a superior control system.
The best feature has to be the customizable tournaments allowing up to 8 players to compete together. A great laugh with your mates & a few beers.
Maybe long term the game has limited appeal but for a change from the hardcore simulations this a good ... Read More

Just had a look at EA Sports website. Out of interest I thought I would have a quick look at the NBA Elite page to see if there were any updates. I am a 2K basketball guy but I was just being curious.

Now when you click on the NBA Elite page you are automatically directed to NBA Jam. There is just a small box giving the well read message of Elite being delayed due to the game not being ready.

Surely if EA had any real intention of getting Elite on the shelves at some ... Read More

I'm writing this blog based on my experiences Within Association mode & those echoed by some people on the 2K Forum.

In the lead up to the release of NBA 2K11 we were shown a video where the Halftime show was shown breaking down scores from around the league. We were told that during your association that this feature will occur & be relevant to your current season. However I have played a number of games & the HT show breaks down details of the game I am involved in but there is ... Read More

Cast your way back to the 2K9 series of games & the future for 2K was looking bleak.

NBA 2K9 - Was still the premier basketball title but came under criticism for it's unplayable online mode as well as some graphical issues such as blurred logos on the court.

NHL 2K9 - Was awful. 2K completely lost sight of what gamers wanted from a hockey game & ended up releasing a product that didn't know whether it wanted to be a sim or a arcade game.

MLB 2K9 - Was ... Read More

It seems almost unbelievable that Black Beans WRC 2010 is the first officially licensed rallying game to grace the current generation of consoles. A franchise that was an almost yearly release on the PS2.

Race fans should be quite thankful for Black Bean. At a time when developers seem only interested in the big name licenses with a large target audience Black Bean seem content to keep the racing sim market alive with a healthy dose of variety. WRC 2010 adds to their other 2 racing ... Read More

My buddy & me were up until 4 this morning enjoying a marathon session of FIFA 11.

Without doubt the best in the series. FIFA 11 does all the good things that FIFA 10 did but does it all better. From the improved layout of the front end menu to the exquisite player models & stadiums. Visually you cannot fail to be impressed. It's when the game plays out & the subtle player animations seamlessly string together that you get the feeling this game is another solid step forward from last ... Read More

...BECAUSE IT HAD A RIVAL.

With the surprise news that EA have delayed their NBA Elite title due to the overwhelming negative feedback it has received, I ask you this simple question.

Would EA have released NBA Elite, as it is, if there was no NBA 2K11 this year?

Have we now got the most damning piece of evidence that suggests that developers should no longer be able to sign long term exclusive license deals. Madden is good this year, but there is certainly ... Read More

Got my copy of F1 2010 today for the PS3. First up, if there are any racing fans out there hesitating on buying this game, worry not.

F1 2010 isn't the greatest looking racing game, nor is it the most revolutionary despite it's interactive career mode. Where F1 2010 succeeds is in the accuracy of representing the sport of Formula 1. There have been many great racing games through the years. No one can argue that the Gran Turismo series is exceptional in it's visuals & the simulation ... Read More

Received my copy of NHL 11 today. Officially released in the UK tomorrow but it came a day early. Man am I disappointed. Bearing in mind my expectations of this years game were pretty low anyway that's saying something. Nothing I had seen or heard about this title was getting me excited.

However with so many positive comments from many of the guys at Operation Sports I thought that maybe I would be surprised after all.

Surprised? No. More like horribly shocked. This ... Read More

Okay time to have another console debate. I have both the PS3 & 360 & in general I don't find a massive difference between the two. I think when pushed the PS3 is more capable but as most games are cross platform that isn't very often.

When it comes to buying a game I often rely on the demo experience & feedback from OS'ers to help decide which platform I will buy a game for. Unless, like MLB the Show, a game is released specifically for the US market whereby I have to buy for the ... Read More

First of all I want to state that I am in no way condemning sliders in sports games. In fact slider adjustment has been one of the most important additions in creating realistic sport simulations by allowing players to make adjustments based on their skill set & their personal preferences.

However, what happens when slider adjustments overinfluence the way a game plays out?

This is a problem I find with NHL 10. I find that, depending on the slider settings used, I will ... Read More
