GAME 4
DETROIT COMPLETES THE SWEEP IN "WILD" GAME 4.
My wings came into game 4 looking for the sweep against the Wild. Minnesota has not found any depth scoring and have struggled putting up Goals in the series.
In the first the only Goal came from Wild Defense Tom Gilbert, the former oiler joined a 2 on 2 rush to make it a 3 on 2 and received a pass from Setoguchi before snapping past Howard. Detroit only registered 3 shots on goal in the first stanza.
In the 2nd period Pierre Marc Bouchard scored at the 6:34 mark on the PP. Detroit answered less than a minute later as Darren Helm took the puck away from Jared Spurgeon and sped in on a breakaway before connecting with the back of the twine to make the score 2-1 heading into the 3rd.
Early on Ryan Suter scored to give Minnesota a 3-1 lead but Detroit would storm back again. After Datsyuk won an offensive zone face-off. Zetterberg passed it back to Carlo Calaiacovo who snapped a quick shot from the point that deflected in off of Mikko Koivu's skate. Martin St. Louis restored the 2 goal lead as he one-timed a shot in the slot and found the back of the net. With 4:37 remaining the Detroit 1st line found the twine as Henrik Zetterberg finished of a great passing play by Datsyuk and Grabovski. Grabovski, who came on as the extra attacker, would knot the game at 4 with a deflection that sent Game 4 to OT.
In OT chances went both ways before the game winner was scored by a slapshot from Sami Salo! Detroit takes the game 5-4 in OT and swept the Minnesota Wild in the first round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs!

LATE GAME HEROICS LIFT DETROIT
The Wild looked to come out strong after dropping Game One 4-1, They did just the oposite as Detroit center Pavel Datsyuk scored on the first shot of game to make it 1-0. Devin Setoguchi however, tied it up with a booming one-timer just a minute and a half later. Minnesota gave up the next goal as Grabovski scored his 3rd goal in 2 games at the 11:32 mark. Detroit held that lead until the break and outshot Minnesota 13-9 in the opening period.
More of the same in the 2nd period as Mikhail Grabovski gave Detroit a 2 goal lead on a powerplay marker at 15:55. Five seconds later M. Koivu caught Detroit off footed as he danced through two defenders and sniped a shot over Howard's shoulder to bring the lead to 1. Elias restored the two goal lead at 13:06 with a Power Play marker, only to have Martin St. Louis second of the playoffs cut it back down to 1 three minutes later. 4-3 Detroit at the intermission.
Detroit struggled early in the 3rd as they took penalty after penalty. After killing off 3 straight man advantages for the wild Detroit found themselves in very delicate situation. Daniel Cleary took a checking from behind major penalty. Minnesota finished on their opportunity by scoring two goals to take a 5-4 lead. M. Koivu scored his second of the game and Parise scored his first of the series. With only 30 seconds left it looked like the Wild would tie the series, until with just 19 seconds left, Damien Brunner one-timed a shot over Niklas Backstrom's shoulder from a beautiful saucer pass by Pavel Datsyuk.
Then 17 seconds into Overtime Mikhail Grabovski intercepted a outlet pass and scored the game winner on a partial breakaway to notch his fifth of the series and 3rd of the night. Detroit Leads 2-0
