I'll be diving into 04 more on my channel and site once my current 06 dynasty is over. 04 has some cool things going for it. I especially like the fact you can't create playbooks, you have to use a team playbook which alters your strategy which is neat, similar to Madden games. The playbooks are actually more unique from one another compared to 06 where all teams that share the same formations share the exact 18 plays. Many formations have two sets of plays depending on the style of offense.

04 has it's limitations compared to 06 obviously due it being older, but I've always liked the feel of it. It's a tad more offensive oriented which is my preference.

So what are the biggest selling points to start playing 06 vs 07? They seem similar minus the jump the snap and kick camera. When I was a kid, 07 was my absolute favorite to play. Also, I’m wanting to do a road to glory type play and then jump him into the corresponding madden. So would it be better to do 06 NCAA plus Madden, or 07 NCAA plus Madden?

I haven't played enough of '07 to give a detailed answer, but the main thing for me is the kicking game. I really hate stick kicking, which, IIRC, was introduced in '07. To me, kicking with the X/A button method was much more challenging, and rewarding when you hit big kicks in big moments.

As far as transitioning Road to Glory/Race for the Heisman to Madden Superstar, I always go with '09, as it has the first (and possibly best) occurrence of super sim. Having to watch a defense that you're not playing on isn't very fun to me. Of course, now with the use of emulators, you can use turbo to speed up the play when you aren't on the field, making your wait go by faster, somewhat.

Two points, if you do give the '09s a try: 1. Onside kicking is way too successful in NCAA '09. So, if you get near a situation where one would occur, I'd stop the sim and play it out. 2. I hate the camera angle in '09 Madden's Superstar mode, so I always note down the attributes in my players senior season in college and create him in Madden Franchise mode as a free agent, allowing a random team to sign him, which feels like getting drafted anyway. One thing - you might want to lower some of their attributes, if you want them to have to grow into being a starter/top player. Of course, this might lower your chances of getting signed. It's just something you'd have to play around with.

Thank you for such a fast response man. I did not expect one to be honest. My thought is this: I really only played ncaa growing up. I played a little of madden. I hear 06 is the best ncaa(I think 07) and that madden 08 is the best madden of all time. Ncaa 08 wasn’t great imo. But I want to use the vision cone regardless, and that was in 06-08. Best feature EA ever removed for simulation enthusiasts. So, with 07 being my fav ncaa, I chose madden 07. I didn’t even realize 09 was on ps2. But it’s really between 06-08. I just don’t remember ncaa 08 being very good.

Hey, you're welcome, on the response. I could talk these series all day, every day, especially NCAA. I've played pretty much every NCAA a lot, except for '07, '04 and '03. I have played them, just not near as much as all of the other years. I remember liking '08 pretty well, but I actually played it on the 360. I have it on PS2, but have only played it a handfull of times on that console. So, much like '07, I don't feel too comfortable giving a big opinion on it, for PS2. I have played Madden '08 quite a bit on PC, and have had a lot of fun with it. Pretty sure I played '06 and '07 when they came out, but not really since. I vividly remember that Shaun Alexander cover, so I know I played it for a little while. Back in the days when Bama wasn't that great, Shaun was one of the best players we had in that post Stallings/pre Saban era. So, it was a big deal to us for him to be on the cover.

Yeah, after much consideration, I’m going to roll with NCAA and Madden 07. I know 06 is really good, I just think 07 is a tad better on both. But, anyways, War Eagle sir. I miss those not so great Alabama teams. Specifically, that Iron Bowl winning streak

Truthfully, I just hope Auburn begins to compete again, the SEC is best when all teams are competitive especially the Iron Bowl.
