Directv is releasing their new package "Directv Now" today and I would love to read some reviews if anyone here has the package.

Perhaps somebody could educate me on exactly what this is. As a current DTV subscriber, I can already stream channels live on their main website.

Is this for people without who don't have cable and would like a cheaper alternative?

I just read up on this a bit and it seems like DTV is trying come up with a rival PS Vue. The introductory offer is super low at $35/month for over 100 channels and that shoots up to $60/mo if you miss the promo. Also, HBO is only an additional $5/mo. I think it's $11.99 with regular DTV, so that's a plus.

Where they lost me though is no DVR function. Aside from sports I really don't watch anything live, so a DVR is a must for me. I guess I'm going to stick to my $150/mo DTV for now, but I'm always on the lookout for another alternative.

Not sure if the article above stated, the promo they are doing but if you sign up for 3 months you get a free apple tv, the 4th generation 32gb. So $105 for an apple tv and 3 months of trying out the service not a bad deal.

I'll pass. No DVR feature is a zero buy for me. I don't ever watch anything live. Sling is supposed to get DVR feature soon...
