Over the years 2k and its MyCareer mode have shown us what a career mode in a sports video game should be of course its not perfect but its one of the best out there right now. It also has the potential to be so much more here a few of my ideas for improving MyCareer mode.

Rookie Showcase or Draft combine? Many are torn between the Draft combine and rookie showcase. The Draft combine was a longer process which turned many people off because it took longer to get your player on an NBA roster. The Rookie showcase allowed people to just jump in and get on a team immediately. I think that they should be optional players should be able to choose to attend the Draft combine or Rookie Showcase after creating their players. If this is not possible expand the Rookie showcase to up to 3 games at least playing in more Rookie showcase games should be optional if you are not satisfied with your draft stock.

The Draft high pick, 2nd round, undrafted? Since 2k12 we have always been guaranteed as a 1st round pick. In addition to predraft interviews we should be brought in for workouts. It would add to the experience if we weren't a first round pick and fell into the 2nd round or even go undrafted there should also be a commentary during a draft analyzing each teams pick whether it was a good fit or not. There should also be trades during the draft so even if you get drafted by a team there is a chance that you could end up getting traded.

Making an NBA Roster Summer league, Training Camps, Preseason. The summer league would be a good place to raise your attributes while playing in games as well as trying to earn a spot on a roster if you are an undrafted player or 2nd rounder. Training camp can help determine if you make the team or go to the D league. The preseason can be used to determine minutes if you play well you could end up the starter.

D-League call ups and send downs. Over the course of the season determined by our play we could be sent to the D-League. Many times we are on the bench and do not get a lot of playing time the D-league could help you develop if you are a backup for a star player and not getting enough minutes like playing backup for KD or CP3.

Coaches and their system. Playing on each team should be different a coach should try to fit you in their system and make you a different player. Playing on a team that uses the Triangle offense would be different than one that uses the Princeton offense.

VC This has been a major part of MyCareer mode but is harming it since it has a vary large presence. Im not sure what can be done with VC but I think that to add some realism players should earn money like in 2k12 but can buy VC with it similar to buying SP in 2k12.

Agents, Fame, Endorsements. These are big things in MyCareer and should be expanded upon. Fame should depend on where you get drafted and what team you play on and how you play. If you have a good couple of games you can end up getting instant fame like linsanity. If you are a high draft pick you get higher expectations placed on you but get many endorsements. If you are a lower draft pick you have lower expectations but get fewer endorsements. The market where your team is located in also can impact your fame if you play on a team like the Lakers or the Knicks you will be well known and more popular but there will be more pressure to win instead of being on a team in a smaller market like the Kings or the Grizzlies where there will be less pressure to win. Each agent should be different one agent would get you better endorsements while another would get you a better contract in free agency.

Retirement and Beyond At the end of our careers give us a last game environment and maybe show us getting our jersey retired. Another thing would be after we retire let us make our players coaches. Coaching in the NBA or D-League as a Head Coach or assistant, Setting up Practice, going over game film, Creating a playbook/ discussing minutes and strategy with my assistant, Discussing trades with the GM, Addressing the media about rumors and so on. Many times in MyCareer after you retire you get well nothing... At least let us make our players coaches so the game doesn't sit there gathering dust.

ETC Free Agency should be improved we should have offers from interested teams that give us more money or can choose to start negotiations with other teams not interested in us. Make the negotiation similar to MLB The Show we should choose the amount of years and money and they can counteroffer of course with a better agent the higher the chance you get what you want. If we are a star let me have a special like "The Decision". when we sign a contract with a new team or get traded show us in an introductory press conference showing us wearing our new jersey and asking us questions on how we feel about the new team, city, and teammates.

I really like some of your ideas on how to improve the mycareer mode. I myself have been lobbying to return to the draft combine as it just feels more authentic. However, the casual gamer wants to just get in and out as quick as possible, and companies always seem to target the casuals. And by the way the reason we do not see draft day trades is because the draft and career mode is tied to the actual current rookie class and where they were selected.

They need to add couch co-op. I'm not buying until they do. Why would I want to play a sports game by myself, or with a faceless competitor?

You have a nice list of ideas, but I'll never play any of them until offline single-player returns.

My suggestion? Don't have freaking Ludacris do all the voice work for our player. I cringe every time the game sets up these "scenes". They are sooooo akward and corny.

-maybe have a variety of voice choices for your my player...or have a different tone...it would really add to the variety of the mode-
-have people from different parts of the world to read lines for my player...that way you can have italian, german, russian, australian and many other accents from around the world/black and white (what better way to market to the global bball fans)
-also have accents from different parts of the USA....down south alabama/louisiana/west coast/new york/chicago/texas...all them folk talk different it would be cool to select your voice accent...and have many choices..maybe they could be stored on a server to save disk space...(
-if they don't think about getting some more variety in the voices, then they should forget about making anymore script for that one guy-its outdated
-100% full face editor...kinda like MLB the show..every minute detail...from the looks of The Show's first PS4 launch, they have this full face editor feature(so we know it can be done)...A.K.A. more face options please-
-if you have a rival like that guy #99...maybe you can edit his name and his looks/number...that way not everyone who posts videos on youtube has this same guy as your ONE rival....and who in the NBA wears #99....NO ONE...
-the cutscenes need to be...well less dramatic all the time...drama doesn't always equal realism...it needs a balance-

the game is a graphical masterpiece btw...just some ideas from me...free of charge of course...
