Season 1: Road to the Cup: Round 1
Posted on February 17, 2014 at 05:26 PM.
Unfortunately, Morgan Rielly fell out with a concussion and is suffering from the aftermath and it may sideline him the entirety of these play-offs. Rookie Jesse Blacker has been called up and slotted in at the 3rd pairing alongside Mark Fraser to fill in.

(1) TORONTO VS. (8) OTTAWA
Round 1: Game 1: Vs. Ottawa Senators
Final Score: 6-1 Toronto

Not an overly exciting game as things got ugly towards the end of the 2nd period. Toronto walks all over Ottawa in a 6-1 win. Goals came from all the usual suspects with Kadri leading the charge with a pair. Others came from Tavares, Van Riemsdyk, Kulemin and Lupul. Drew Doughty chipped in with 3 helpers on the night. Colby Armstrong replied for Ottawa. Toronto takes a 1-0 series lead.

Game 2: Vs. Ottawa Senatora
Final Score: 7-3 Ottawa

The Ottawa Senators rolled into Toronto and rolled over the Leafs to tie up the series at one apiece. The final score showed 7-4 in what was really an even more dominating performance than the score showed. Scoring for the Senators was the top line of Michale-Spezza-Ryan who all had two goals apiece with the 7th coming from young gun Conacher. Replying for the Leafs were Ekman-Larsson, Kulemin, McClement and Van Riemsdyk. The series will now shift to Ottawa for the next two games.

Game 3: @ Ottawa Senators

Final Score: 3-2 Ottawa

A hard-nosed affair ended in glee for the home fans. With the score tied 2-2 with just 22.7 seconds left, Senators winger Cory Conacher managed to grab a rebound and slide it in under a sprawling Jonathan Bernier. The rest of the Senators offense came from their big line with Spezza and Michalek both finding the back of the net. Okposo and Lupul scored for the Leafs in a losing effort.

Game 4: @ Ottawa Senators
Final Score: 7-5 Toronto

In another weirdly high scoring game the Leafs were able to tie the series up 2-2 before heading back home to Toronto. Kulemin led the way with 2 goals while Bobby Ryan was able to keep the scoring touch of the Senators top line alive as he netted a hattrick. Hopefully the goalies can take control of a game soon and grab some confidence between the pipes.

Game 5: Vs. Ottawa Senators
Final Score: 6-3 Toronto

Coming off a big road win and tying the series the Leafs carried that momentum into Game 5 where they took a 3-2 series lead with a 6-3 victory. Joffrey Lupul led the way with a pair of goals for the Leafs who look to take the series down in Game 6 on the road in Ottawa.

Game 6: @ Ottawa Senators
Final Score: 4-1 Ottawa

The Senators didn't plan on ending their season early and especially on home ice. Everything went to plan and they carried a 2-1 lead into the 3rd period before icing it with two 3rd period goals. Colin Greening led the offensive charge for the Sens with a pair of goals. Game 7 is necessary as the teams are dead locked 3-3.

Game 7: Vs. Ottawa Senators
Final Score: 5-2 Ottawa

After coming into the play offs as the Stanley Cup favorites, Toronto has been dispatched in 7 games by the Ottawa Senators in a 5-2 loss. The offense was simply snake bitten for the final two games and the goaltending was simply not up to snuff. The off-season will bring some change no doubt to this franchise as they move forward wondering what went wrong.
