Chris Paul early in the first quarter drove to the hoop, spun, and put up a circus shot that found the net while being fouled, which brought the sellout crowd of New Orleans Arena to their feet. Their adulation turned quickly to worry as Paul did not get up, instead he writhed on the ground in agony. Enter, Goran Dragic, a backup point guard who only averaged around 10 mpg coming into the game, yet you wouldn't think that after watching Dragic command the floor in the Hornets 111-90 win over the West's top team, the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Goran Dragic and Marcus Thornton stepped up for the Hornets as both scored in double figures (16 and 38 respectively), while Goran Dragic also added 13 assists for his first double-double of the season. Baron Davis put 19 points and 15 asts in a loss for the Timberwolves. The loss drops the Timberwolves to 16-8, while the critical win for the Hornets gives them a 14-10 records entering the home stretch of the 2011-2012 season.

The Hornets are currently 13-10 with six games remaining in the now shortened NBA season of 29 games. Their next game is an important one as they square off against the Minnesota Timberwolves who currently are in first place in the Western Conference with a 16-7 record. The Hornets the six seed enjoyed their brief All-Star Break and are now looking to close out the season on a strong note. Their lone All-star Chris Paul looks to build on his impressive MVP resume down the stretch.

The Miners opened the 2010 campaign as winners as they beat Akron 45-14. They came out of the gates sloppy as Joe Dimigglio threw an interception on the first drive, one of 3 Cambria turnovers in the first half. Akron jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the first quarter, however, Cambria rattled off 38 straight points to end the game as their passing attack was too much for the zips. J. Dimigglio tossed 6 Td passes connecting most often with Dezmon Peters (8 rec, 3 TDs) Peters a senior was expected to be buried on the depth chart this year made the most of the opportunity Coach Wilson gave him: "Coach Wilson, came to me and said he was counting on me to start today and work the underneath routes, and that's what I tried to do." The defense was led by Alec Hamilton who amassed 7 tkls, the team's leader for the game. The Miners look forward to their next game against Washington, a team from a BCS conference. Washington should present challenges for Cambria on both sides of the ball.

Hey college football enthusiats, Skippy Lopes here, as many of you know I'm a senior reporter for "College Football Recruiting Monthly", the leading recruiting mag out there. Recently, Syracuse has been ousted from the Big East, and their replacement Cambria College is soaking up the sports headlines. A lot of you are probably wondering about the school's potential for attracting recruits since they are formerly from Division III and have not established rich pipelines in many states. However, Cambria has a lot of positives to offer potential recruits, and I would urge mid-level recruits and even some highly-touted recruits to give Cambria a look this year as they make their decision where to play football in 2011. Now let's get to my ratings:
Academic Prestige B+
An average SAT score of 1250 for the incoming Freshman class this year at Cambria says it all, also this was the lowest average score in fifty years. Pre-med is their specialty, but many of the players opt for business degrees, one of the best undergraduate business programs on the East Coast. Plus they have a great tutor and study program for the student-athlete.
Campus Lifestyle C
Compared to other DI schools, the party scene is average.
Coach Experience B+
Coach Wilson has been coaching the Miners for a quite a few years and has plenty of hardware to be proud of.
Coach Prestige B
Wilson is a winner and this should translate to DI as nobody develops a better all-around gameplan than Wilson, and the Miners are loaded with talent.
Championship Contender B
They could contend their first year in DI as they have the athleticism and discipline to find success. A BCS bowl is not out of Coach Wilson's equation
Athletic Facilities C
An average gym that is need of repairs, and this could also be said about the practice field. But a couple successful seasons and donations by alumni could lead to better and state of the art facilities.
Fan Base B+
Cambria fans are out of control with passion and fervor for the Miners. Alldred Stadium is loud on Saturdays, and Miner fans are not welcoming to visitors.
Pro Factory C+
No pros as of yet, but they have NFL talent waiting to be discovered, and with their move to DI, the spotlight is now on Cambria.
Program Stability B+
This program is as stable as any as the AD lives by the motto, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Program Tradition C
Plenty of tradition from when they played in Division III. Will that success carry over to DI? I say wait to their season opener, but don't be surprised if they run the Big East table.
Television Exposure C
They're not like Notre Dame, they don't have a deal with NBC, but they're not Eastern Michigan either, ESPN will show a couple Cambria games every now and then.

Good news has arrived from Cambria College in respect to their football team. Today, the Miners have hired Mike Leach as their new offensive coordinator, and have also hired Bob Davie as their new defensive coordinator. Jeremy Wilson met with both coaches on Thursday and it took him only a few days to decide they are the right fit for the program, as the school moves up to Division I. Wilson commented on the resume of both coaches: “Both Mike and Bob bring a high level of commitment, expertise, and class to their new respective positions and should have a positive influence in Cambria’s move to Division I.”
Coach Wilson especially connected with Mike Leach as both are offensive masterminds and known for their spread schemes. Leach the former head coach of Texas Tech, brought his Air Raid offense to the national spotlight there and turned Texas Tech into a legitimate Big XII contender, as he had a 76-39 record at Tech. Wilson believes there is a lot to learn from Leach and expects him to command the offense to great heights given his knowledge and the offensive unit’s talent: “Coach Leach understands the spread and Air Raid offense we like to run here better than anybody, and with the skill and speed we have on offense, Coach Leach should have a field day every Saturday commanding this offense.” Also Wilson is in awe of Leach’s ability to successfully tutor quarterback s as evidenced from his time at Kentucky and Oklahoma as the offensive coordinator, and from his tenure at Texas Tech. Cambria’s starting quarterback, Joe Dimigglio set several Division III single season passing records last year, and the strong-armed and accurate signal caller has high hopes for the team’s first Division I campaign: “Were happy to be playing in Division I, but by no means is this going to be a honeymoon year. We understand there are some critics who have no clue why we are in Division I, and some people flat out have never heard of our college or knew that we had a football team. But that will change by season’s end.” Hopefully, Leach can bring Dimigglio along further in his development, and the team can prove their naysayers wrong.
Bob Davie, the former head coach of Notre Dame is well-known for his time at Texas A&M during the early 90’s when he coached the “Wrecking Crew” to national prominence. Wilson hopes he Davie’s can turn around a defense that was suspect to deep pass plays and had trouble stopping the run last season against far inferior opponents than they will face in Division I. Wilson said the unit needs to take a more team-based approach to defense, and thinks Davie can help them accomplish that: “When you look at Davie’s resume, you see a coach who has taken individuals and made them into a collective force on the defensive side of the ball. Last year, our defense didn’t play up to its potential because everyone was trying to individually make a difference rather than play the defensive scheme which calls for teamwork.” Garret Olsen, the Cambria’s star middle linebacker and defensive captain agrees with Coach Wilson’s assessment of the unit’s lack of teamwork last season: “Last season, we were out of position because everyone was trying to make that impact play. We need to learn that in order to make impact plays, we have to follow the schemes to a fault, and that a big play is not the result of an individual, rather it’s the result of the team.”
Both Davie and Leach will have a news conference in the upcoming days. Although, Wilson is not sure the new hires will be able to have their units dominate statistically the first year, he is sure the new hires bring instant legitimacy and credibility to Cambria’s football program.

Cambria College was founded in 1950 and is located in Cambria PA. The school has been a member of Division II since 1965 when the school established an athletic department. They play their home games in Bobby Alldred Memorial Stadium, which can hold a capacity crowd of 50,000. Even though, the school’s student population hovers are 5,000, the football team attracts the interest of the Cambria County and other surrounding counties, thus sold-out crowds are the norm during football season. The Miners have dominated Division II in football for the past thirty years as they have won five national championships, 15 Western Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Titles. Under the direction of Jeremy Wilson, the Miners have won two DII National Championships, 7 WPAC titles, and Wilson himself has won two National Coach of the Year Awards.
Recently, the success of Cambria’s football program was recognized as the Big East Conference decided to invite Cambria College to join their conference beginning in 2010. Cambria will replace Syracuse who moved to the MAC conference to assume the opening left by Kent State who disbanded their football program. Syracuse will remain a Big East member for all other sports. Cambria’s invitation to the Big East comes as a surprise to many given Cambria’s relative obscurity and the fact they have never been a member of the FBS division, normally a prerequisite for promotion to the Division I FCS. However, Cambria is able to recruit great athletes and football players as Wilson has established recruiting pipelines in Pennsylania, Ohio, and West Virginia. Also, Wilson has been able to attract talented football players as many Miners are transfers from big-time Division 1 schools. Wilson has emplaced minimum grade point average for all his players of 3.3 in accordance with the strict academic standards of Cambria College, one of the nation’s premier Liberal Arts colleges.
The Miners favor a spread attack and incorporate a no-huddle offense to wear out opposing defenses. In regards to defense, the Miners play a standard 4-3 defense , yet play aggressive and often blitz their linebackers in hopes of creating pressure on the opposing quarterback. Currently, Wilson is looking to fill two vacancies on his coaching staff, which are the offensive coordinator position and defensive coordinator position. They are vacant because both prior coaches left to take head coach positions at local Division 3 colleges
