Mike Komisarek's season started about as well as anyone could ask. Recording three goals in just over three periods of play. However Komisarek was dealt a minor set-back in the Ottawa game. Komisarek suffered a broken wrist. This after Komisarek spent the rest of the game in the dressing room and was transported to the hospital for x-rays. He is expected to be out a month and is expected to be back to full strength on November 6th. The Leafs will have to go on without their hottest goal scorer at the moment. Their next game is against the Calgary Flames on October 15th.

The leafs welcomed rival Ottawa to the Air Canada Centre for the second game of the 2011-2012 season. The Sens would be facing former face of the franchise Jason Spezza. Spezza, who was ruled out after the Canadians game, told the coaching staff that this was an important game and that he really wanted to be a part of it. Spezza said he was good enough to lace up, so the Toronto staff granted him his wish. The Leafs began the game quick. Scoring four goals in the first period. The first was off the stick of defenseman Mike Komisarek. Who followed his two goal game against the Canadians with a goal of his own. His hot streak was halted, however, by a first period injury. Komisarek did not return to the game and is expected to get x-rays on his hand tonight. That, however, did not stop the Leafs from continuing the pressure on the Senators defense. Netting three more goals to close out the period. 26 yearo old Clarke Macarthur would add the next goal. Phil Kessel and newcomer Rick Nash would follow suit to close out the period. The second period would go on silently with no scoring for either side. However, In the third John-Michael Liles would add a top shelf screamer from the point to close the game out and give the Leafs a 5-0 win. Jason Reimer would halt 15 Senator shots for his second consecutive shut-out. The Leafs have the week off but wil welcome Calgary to Toronto on the 15th.

The puck dropped for the new season in the city of Toronto. Their foe, familiar, Northeast Division rival Montreal. The Leafs would strike early with a break away goal by third liner Fredrick Sjostrom. Sjostrom was able to recieve a blue line pass behind the Canadians defense for an easy breakaway goal in the first period. American defenseman Mike Komisarek would answer with the last two goals for the Leafs. Both slap shots that would find the top shelf past Montreal net minder, Carey Price. Price would receive the brunt of the shots in the game, saving 18 of the 21 Toronto shots. While, Toronto goalie, James Reimer would record his first shutout of the season with 13 saves. Toronto will welcome Ottawa to town on the 8th still with out newly acquired star and former Ottawa Senator, Jason Spezza.
